Posted: 14 Jul 2017 08:32 PM PDT The classiest radio host in the atomic wasteland. I just love when he says "People often ask me if there 's a Mrs. New Vegas. You're her. And you're just as beautiful as the day we met." [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2017 01:19 PM PDT http://i.imgur.com/8HS9k0z.jpg (the face isn't exact but I'm not the best artist in the world, okay) So when I came up with my vision of my Fallout 4 character two years ago, she looked like my drawings on the left. I posted some comics way back on this subreddit some of you might remember. But we all know when the game came out the customization options weren't the best, and there was no colored hair or long hair. Well, I really wanted my character to have that hair color, and when the first (really broken) hair dye mod came out, the colors weren't what I wanted. So I took matters into my own hands, did so googling on how to retexture, and made my first mod, Zella's Hair Dye Collection. Then through messaging various mod authors, I learn about alpha in textures so I could make non-hideous moles, mashing up hairstyles to create different ones, and weight painting. Modding eventually became something I spent hundred of hours on. My first hair mod was of making some mashups of vanilla hairs, and I'll always be grateful to the guy I messaged over and over with really noob questions, because that was a major learning experience. After I made that mod, I was pretty motivated, and though I didn't have the skills or knowledge of how to make my own hairstyles, it became my goal. Months later helping with Commonwealth Cuts made me pretty familiar with how custom hairs are made, but I still didn't have the skills to make one. But, in my first year of college I learned some 3D programs, so I relied mostly on that knowledge to make my hairstyles, as legit no one has a good tutorial available. I made a couple test hairs that looked bad, but after I sorta knew what I was doing I made my first hairstyle. Then, over the next two months I made four more (the one in the picture is my fourth). So now many mods and two years later, I have a character that looks just like how I first envisioned her. :) My hair mod is ANiceOakTree's Hairstyles. - XB1 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2017 05:13 AM PDT This video takes a look at what the main plot would have been in Van Buren, Interplay's cancelled version of Fallout 3. While none of the content featured in Van Buren is absolutely cannon, this video is a good starting point for those who wish to learn more about what could have been. TL;DW: The video tells you Van Buren would have taken place in 2253, or just 11 years after Fallout 2, in the Great Midwest Commonwealth. The player (titled "the Prisoner") would have woken up in an unfamiliar prison facility. During, an attack on the prison would be taking place, led by a Dr. Victor Presper. After escaping through a hole in their prison cell, the Prisoner would be free to explore the wasteland (albeit constantly being pursed by the prison's robotic caretakers, who wish to return them to the prison.) The Prisoner would eventually discover that they have contracted the New Plague (a pre-war bioweapon developed by the Enclave, and the virus that FEV was intended to cure). The robotic caretakers of the prison are simply trying to quarantine the player in an attempt to stop the plague from spreading. Unfortunately, the robots' efforts are rendered futile as any location already visited by the Prisoner have already been infected. To analyze and possibly treat the New Plague, the Prisoner would have to find information located inside of the aforementioned prison facility. However, the prison is in a state of lockdown due to the recent attack, and in order to gain access to the information the Prisoner would have to bring 7 of the escaped inmates (including theirself) back to the prison facility. After doing so, the player would discover the true reason behind the prison and the attack on it. It turns out that, through extensive research, the mad scientist called Presper, disgusted with what the world turned into after the War, discovered the history of New Plague and its genocidal potency, and also discovered a viable means to cleanse the world. Using the quarantine prison, the prison's advanced A.I. named ODYSSEUS, and a connected ballistic satellite, the way to human planetary domination and order became clear. He needed to get to the ballistic satellite and use the nuclear weapons to clean the filth and wretch that currently have occupied the surface. Presper and his followers released the New Plague virus in the remote areas near Boulder and Denver. It was close enough to the quarantine prison to spur ODYSSEUS into action, but not near enough to cause huge populations to start a general panic. Once enough people were infected and ODYSSEUS "arrested" enough people to just about fill up the prison, Presper's men would stage an attack on the prison which would allow everyone to escape. This event would start a countdown of sorts for missile launch on the ballistic satellite. ODYSSEUS would assess the viral spread, try to gather up the escaped prisoners, and, once 90% of the prisoners had been retrieved, launch nuclear missiles to "clean & prevent" any further infection. By the time this happened, Presper had planned to be on, and in full control of, the ballistic satellite and reprogramming targeting solutions to clean the areas he wanted. Humans of his choosing would wait out the second nuclear holocaust in the Boulder Dome, until the day came where he declared the Earth safe for pure blood humans once more. The Prisoner would then be able to repair and then use a spaceship to infiltrate the ballistic satellite. From there, the Prisoner would decide which course to take. Would they buy into Presper's vision of a new, better world, or would they put an end to Presper's plan by neutralizing the scientist and stopping his missiles? Alternatively, the Prisoner could use those missiles to settle some grudges of their own. The video then goes on to talk about how there seems to be a general misconception about the storyline in Van Buren. New Vegas did take some clear inspiration from Van Buren, but for the most part the events in New Vegas would have occurred after the events of Van Buren. In many ways, New Vegas represents the storyline that would have been featured in the version of Fallout 4 that Interplay was planning. TL;DR: The player is sick and in quarantine. The player escapes and infects many. The player wishes to have a better understanding of the cure and through doing so finds out a mad scientist is responsible for getting people sick in order to for most people to die. The player confronts the scientist in space and either a) teams up with the scientist and most people die or b) stops the scientist and (at the very least) some people die. Regardless of where any of this sits in the cannon, it's interesting nonetheless. I believe every fan of the Fallout franchise should take the opportunity to learn more about the entries of the series that never got to be, as many elements of these games eventually make their way into the newer games. Need an interesting build for Fallout 4. Posted: 15 Jul 2017 11:51 AM PDT Long story short my internet is out for the next week. So to occupy my time I want to revisit fallout 4 with a build I've never played before. Done stealth and a lazy science build. I have season pass so anything requiring dlc is fine. Thanks! Posted: 14 Jul 2017 09:37 PM PDT Man, am I moved. That's probably the first time I've been in tears over a Fallout game. While I found a few of his caches and terminal entries in previous playthroughs of Honest Hearts, I admittedly didn't pay much mind to the story behind it all until now. Witnessing Randall Clark's legacy in not only his terminal entries, but also the cunning of his traps and the kindness of the Sorrows was a great example of how this years-old game surprises me to this day. If you haven't read his story, you can read his entries here. [link] [comments] |
Fallout New Vegas and the death defying characters in it Posted: 14 Jul 2017 10:53 PM PDT Now I was thinking about how Joshua Graham is an insanely hard core character, for surviving being burned alive and tossed down the grand canyon. Then I remembered how the courier themselves got shot in the head and lived anyways, and I started thinking about how alot of characters in the main game and dlc have defied fate. In the main game we have House who created a machine to keep himself alove indefinitely. Then in dead money we have your 3 allies who each went through a sort of hell, Dean becoming a ghoul rather than succumbing to radiation, God/Dog who survived after the death of the master, and ate a bomb collar, and punched a bear trap (I'm pretty sure he also headbutt a nuke or something with the way he is), and of course Christine who got lobotomized in Big Mt. and then mutilated by an auto doc. Then in old world blues we have a the whole think tank who transferred their brains to robots just to keep sciencing. And lastly we have lonesome road with none other than ED-E who was meant to be decommissioned. The whole game is filled with characters who not only refuse to die, but keep fighting despite the shitty situations they find themselves in. [link] [comments] |
How the FUCK do you get past the Tanker? (Fallout 2) Posted: 15 Jul 2017 02:58 PM PDT I'm out of ideas. I have Enclave Power Armor, Rocket Launcher, Sniper Rifles and 3 companions but the area where there are like 30 wanamingos, centaurs and floaters is near impossible. Not only do they quickly swarm you, but also despite doing no damage to you they are extreme bullet sponges which makes things extremely frustrating. Killing them all would realistically take IRL hours [link] [comments] |

[NV] So my girlfriend was talking to Veronica.. Posted: 14 Jul 2017 10:34 PM PDT She got about half way through the conversation and stopped. She looked at me and asked. "I really like her but what if she finds out I'm Brotherhood of Steel?" [link] [comments] |

Fallout 3: Radio pauses during dialogue? Posted: 15 Jul 2017 10:58 AM PDT I originally played Fallout 3 on my Xbox and never had this problem. It's annoying as hell, hearing the music suddenly stop whenever I try to talk to someone. Is there something I can do about this? [link] [comments] |
Siding with the Railroad and... [SPOILERS] Posted: 15 Jul 2017 03:37 AM PDT Desdemona needs huge amounts of manpower to pull off the attack on The Institute. Really? Then why is there no option to use the massive army of the Minutemen that is literally at my disposal? It seems sort of backwards, even if Des does believe that the Minutemen won't bother saving Synths, because even then she could use all her heavies and agents to take care of the synths while the MM destroy the Gen 1s and 2s. Need some advice for "Nothin' but a hound dog" Posted: 15 Jul 2017 10:06 AM PDT I'm currently on the new Vegas quest "Nothin' but a hound dog" and I'm not sure whether to obtain Lupa's brain, Rey's brain, or Violetta's brain can anyone tell what would be best? [link] [comments] |

Finally finished a Fallout game Posted: 15 Jul 2017 03:30 PM PDT I've played fallout 3 and new vegas and loved them both but I could never get myself to finish the main storylines. Every time I'd get into the mid level 20s through mostly exploring and ignoring major quests. Inevitably I'd burn out and look for a more immediately satisfying game. The freedom to do what I'd wanted ended up being too much and my character would drift aimlessly from one ultimately minor location to another. When I came back a few months later, I always felt so disconnected from that character that I'd have to make a new one and always try to make it way too perfect. I'd have to perfectly clear every building and location methodically, missing out on as little as possible. FO4 was about to be more of the same. Had it on Xbox last spring and the exact same thing happened. Several reboots never really getting anywhere. Probably last played this precious October. Switched for a PS4 in spring but didn't pick up fallout again until May. Same exact thing but tried survival mode which I loved but I quickly realized that I didn't have the time to play it the way I would want to. Set it down yet again. Finally on July 1, I fired up my survival character lvl 25 and decided to change the difficulty back to Normal and almost completely eliminate unnecessary exploration and focus on only following quest and side quest markers one after another. Surprisingly today I just finished up the institute quest line at level 54 and I have to say I'm really happy that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing so much more of the story and characters that I'd ever previously been able to and I'm looking forward to plowing through the dlcs. It's a feeling of finality and accomplishment that usually eludes me as an admitted habitual video game bailer. I always felt like I could only enjoy open world games when I see every single thing there is read every lore book listen to every conversation and follow the perfect questlines and I realized today that the imperfection of my playthrough made it way more enjoyable. The same exact problem crops up for me in all open world games, GTA, the witcher, skyrim, horizon zd, mgs5, etc. I'd all but given up on ever progressing very far. I'm proud of myself for pushing myself through and hopefully I can keep it rolling into some of the above listed. [link] [comments] |
Quick question about Ms. Piper Posted: 15 Jul 2017 03:29 PM PDT I skipped the flirt options in previous conversations because they were in red, and I knew it wouldn't work. All I get is a romance option,. Did I break the game? Or... I needs halp [link] [comments] |

A Random Thought About How You Enter New Vegas Posted: 15 Jul 2017 10:17 AM PDT So, I can understand the gameplay reasons behind wanting a complication to slow progress, but isn't it odd that you can't enter New Vegas without the requisite caps, or sneaking your way onto the monorail? You have the Platinum Chip that Mr. House has been seeking for decades. Victor has been tailing you this whole time so he knows you have it, or at least knows it's likely that you have it. And yet, Mr. House won't allow the mailman to deliver his mail? Why doesn't Victor vouch for you at the gate or something? [link] [comments] |
