Seriously, we don't need to be notified every single time someone mentions this game.

I am enjoying the summer update, but it's 1320 B.C., should we really be talking nukes?

The summer patch altered luxury resource generation!

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 04:49 AM PDT

In Civ 6, each designated continent gets 4 unique luxuries assigned to it. This unfortunately included whales and pearls. So a continent that got assigned one of those would have less bountiful land tiles and the whales or pearls would clump all around that continent.

I'm happy to say that this has changed! Sea luxuries now spawn around all of the continents and do not appear to count towards the 4 luxuries. I first noticed by checking the database and seeing new tables for "sealuxuries." I tested it in game after.

Giving every Civ a unique Palace model?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 09:15 AM PDT

Shalom /r/Civ! This is something I've been thinking about for a while now, and with the addition Nubia, we now have another Civ with a unique model for the palace. I think it would be really cool if evey Civ, or maybe even every leader, could have a unique palace model.

Not including City-States, America, China, Japan, The Kongo Poland, Australia and Nubia all have a unique palace model. I've made a few suggestions for other Civs below. Note that the suggestion doesn't have to perfectly match the model, but rather what the model could be based on.

Arabia - Something like the Cairo Citadel, seeing as it was fortified by Saladin.

Aztec - Keep the current model and change Brazil's instead

Brazil - Something similar to the Paço Imperial in Rio de Janeiro, which would have been Pedro's city residence

Egypt - Keep current palace and change Sumerias

England - Buckingham Palace, which was, and still is, the residence of British Monarchs starting with Victoria

France - Depending on the leader could go with either Versailles or something similar to Chateau de Chenonceau or even something based on the current Chateau model.

Germany - Not too sure on a specific model to base it on but something with features from buildings like Speyer Cathedral, Maria Laach Abbey or The Aachen Cathedral. Although I will confess not too sure on this one

Greece (Pericles) - Something based on a reconstruction of the Athens Acropolis

Greece (Gorgo) - Another Acropolis looking building, although there isn't much in the way of Spartan palace architecture, at least when I searched.

India - Keep current palace and change others

Macedon - Really don't know for this one, most of Pella is a ruin. Something based on what's left of Pella?, really unsure tho

Norway - Something that uses Stave Architecture, not necessarily a real building

Persia - Something based on Apadana. Yes I know it's an ingame wonder but the Chinese Palace looks like the Forbidden City so it should be ok. Again, doesn't have to be an exact replica, just inspired by.

Rome - Keep the current model and change others

Russia - Hermitage. Probably one of the most iconic Russian palaces and the same wonder argument applies.

Scythia - I believe they were Nomads, so a traditional palace may not work but something like an Elaborate Tent as seen in Age of Empires 2 might work, not sure again though.

Spain - Something architecturally similar to Alhambra

Sumer - Something like a more elaborate Ziggurat, again no specific building to base it on.

These are just my thoughts, I'm by no means a historian so please correct me if I made historical errors. I just think this would be a neat idea for Civ 6 to make each Civ feel just a bit more unique to play.

Retiring the RestartButton mod

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 08:09 PM PDT

I got home from work today to a new Civ VI patch, expecting that would mean another hour or so of tediously updating and re-publishing the RestartButton mod.

To my surprise, Firaxis implemented one in the game! I like the save and load settings feature that went along with it too. Great work guys, and thanks for continuing to improve the game for us.

Started up a new game as ya boi Peter and after 2 early wars with China and Sumeria (separately) I have declarations of friendships with all 5 AIs. Anyone else noticing happier AI?

Civ 6 Summer Patch First Impressions / Analysis

Summer update makes it impossible to start games

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 01:58 PM PDT

I dont have any mods but since the summer patch I can't start any games... Instead of the normal loading screen there is only "Start Game..." and I return to main menu 2s after. So, I can't play the game anymore. Any solutions for this specific problem yet?

(Loading games still works, I just can't start any new games...)

General

✔ Not being able to save advanced settings options - Added the saving of game setup configurations to reuse when starting future games

❌ Cross-platform Multiplayer

❌ "Alert" option for units sometimes not working - when I'm "waking" a unit from "alert" I can't attack instantly, I have to move unit first.

❌ No map with a record of players' controlled lands is shown after winning the game

❌ WASD to control camera? Please? (DIY by /u/Xacius)

❌ Add "AQUARELLE FOG OF WAR" option (sepia and subtle colors or something) - terrain is often too difficult to identify (maybe something like this)

❌ No "hall of fame"

Possible wonder overhaul

❌ Future Tech and Social Media should auto-repeat once you have researched all the other items

UI

No restart button in game menu - Added Restart button to regenerate the map

✔ One click to repeat last trade route - Trade Route chooser automatically selects previously completed trade route, Additional improvements to the Trade Route chooser

City attack button is hell on Earth (prompt me when a city could bombard an enemy! - Added a turn blocker notification when city ranged attack is available)

❌ No Civilopedia in main game menu (can be changed by mod 1, 2)

❌ No "Back" and "Forward" button in Civilopedia

❌ No details about Unique Unit and/or Unique Building on loading screen (although this might look ugly on lower resolutions)

❌ Some notifications can't be dismissed by first mouse click

❌ City production queue (might be deleted by devs for purpose) (can be changed by mod - CQUI)

❌ Ordering trading routes, ideally by multiple criteria (can be changed by mod - CQUI)

❌ Show us how a city's religious population will change by spreading religion

❌ Notifications about wonders being built by AI often can't be dismissed for good

❌ Noticeable delay on screen with dialogue options when being addressed by the AI (in V it was instant)

❌ Right-click or something to research halfway (can be changed by mod -1)

"Foreign advisor" for CIV VI InfoAddict for V

❌ Minimap overhaul (Please, just do it! from) ✔ We can resize it now, still pretty crowded

❌ Being paranoic about their agenda,

❌ Add bribing the AI to declare war (or make peace) with another AI/s,

General overhaul (?)

It-would-be-really-cool-if-some-of-those-will-get-implemented-or-modded-to-game section:

✔ Districts take too long to complete - Reduced the cost of the Aqueduct by 30%, and Sewers by 50%, Reduced cost of all other districts by 10%, Increased the discount for districts you have less of from 25% to 40% Increased costs of district buildings by 10% (except Aerodrome buildings), and increased per settler cost bump by 50%

💬 AI on King difficulty and higher: auto-upgrade all AI units not in player territory upon research completion

💬 Show effect of civic changes before changing (money, science...)

💬 Barbarian spawn: an alert that needs to be dismissed or a lens option to show all camps

💬 Showing adjacency bonuses after districts are built and the current effects of regional buildings

💬 Demographics option (similar to CIV V)

💬 World map in more sizes. Although this might be problematic because of the memory issues

Worth to play the game after the summer patch?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 04:47 PM PDT

Maybe it's a bit soon to ask, but in your opinion, has the latest patch fixed enough of the game's flaws to be worth coming back to play it?
