I really dislike these early game metas.

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:57 AM PDT

Many people are ok with it. They like short matches. Alright that's fine too, but I know there are people like me who enjoy longer matches. I like playing hour long matches. I love building up the whole match to the last few epic and explosive battles. With early game metas however, by the time team fights start happening, things are usually very one sided because one team won the early game. I really think that is an issue, where the first few moments decide the flow of the whole game. Here's to hoping for the return of a late game meta.

TIL I am actually garbage at this game. You can place two Sentries wards at a time.

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:24 PM PDT

Somehow I thought that you can only place one Sentry at a time. I have only been placing one Sentry at a time for two years.

There is suddenly no wonder why I lose most my games.

Anyone else have a revelation like this?

Cu Chulainn + Aphrodite trick

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:52 PM PDT

Just realised, since Cu Chulainn's passive transform mp5 into hp5, if you kiss him with Aphrodite, he gets the buffs from healing items like Lotus Crown, Celestial Legion Helm, etc. 24/7. This makes the duo pretty strong!

MOTD Idea - Smite: Battleground of the Dogs

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:10 AM PDT

5v5 Conquest with only good boys available.

Gods: Anubis, Erlang Shen, Skadi, Scylla, Fenrir

Everything else normal.

Either that, or just replace every God in the game with a dog version I think that would be really nice :)

Tyr - A Comprehensive Guide

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:06 AM PDT

Let's start with what to build if you are playing Tyr in solo lane:

  1. Bluestone (if you don't build this, stop playing Tyr)
  2. Bumbas (this is only if you plan on soloing your blue buff instead of going for 1st wave)
  3. Warrior Tabi (the power is better than attack speed since Tyr's basic attacks are fairly slow)
  4. Breastplate of Valor (Physical protection, Mana, 20% Cooldown)

From here on it gets situational.

If you are laning against a guardian or mage, it is better to pick up a Magical defence item before Breastplate.

Some further options are:

  • Gladiators shield (the passive works well with Tyr's abilities and having more cooldown is great)
  • Bulwark of Hope (the go to Magical defence item, the health shield passive is one of the best in smite)
  • Pestilence (basically a magical defence item that reduces healing, will help against most solo laners as it reduces their sustain)
  • Jotunn's Wrath (Power, Penetration and 20% Cooldown, this plus Breastplate of Valour is the quickest way to max cooldown)
  • Winged Blade (Slow immunity and health as well as crowd control reduction)
  • Stone of Gaia (Knockup, pull, grab immunity plus % of max health per second)
  • Spirit Robe (Protections, Cooldown, damage mitigation, Crowd control reduction)
  • Hide of the Urchin (Health, protections, ability to stack extra protections)
  • Shifters shield (Works well with Tyr's stance switching - Extra power and protections)

Relics - Always Teleport and Blink

For a jungle build, you will probably want:

  • Bluestone
  • Bumbas
  • Warrior tabi
  • Jotunn's Wrath
  • Hydras lament
  • Spirit robe
  • Titan's bane
  • Shifters shield

Abilities

Passive - Unyielding

Stuns, Taunts, Fears, Intoxicate, and Mesmerize cannot affect Tyr for more than 1s.

Notes: Crowd control reduction stacks with this passive

Ability type: Buff

1st Ability - Fearless

Tyr charges forward, immune to knockup, damaging enemies.

Assault Stance: Tyr pushes all enemies along with him, hitting them 2 times and knocking them up in the air.

Guard Stance: Tyr hits each enemy only once, passing through them.

Damage: 40/90/140/190/240(+50% of your physical power)

Ability type: Dash

Radius: 12

Cooldown 15 seconds

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana

2nd Ability - Power Cleave

Tyr makes a massive melee attack, hitting all enemies within a 180 degree cone.

Assault Stance: Enemies that are knocked up in the air are knocked away.

Guard Stance: Tyr heals himself for each enemy hit (max 3).

Notes: Casting this will immediately interrupt Fearless.

Damage: 80/115/150/185/220 (+65% of your physical power)

Healing: 25/45/65/85/105

Ability Type: Cone

Cone: 180

Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds

Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana

3rd Ability - Change Stance

Tyr changes between Assault and Guard stances. Changing stances refreshes the cooldown on Fearless and Power Cleave.

Assault Stance: Gain Physical Power.

Guard Stance: Gain Protections.

Assault Stance: 10/20/30/40/50 Physical Power

Defense Stance: 10/20/30/40/50 Protections

Ability Type: Stance Change

Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds

Ultimate - Lawbringer

Tyr leaps through the air, bringing indiscriminate justice upon all enemies in the target area, and slowing them. Notes: Tyr is immune to crowd control while leaping.

Damage: 150/225/300/375/450 (+120% of your physical power)

Slow: 25%

Slow Duration: 3s

Ability Type: Leap

Radius: 30

Cooldown: 90/85/80/75/70 seconds

Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana

Abilities - Levelling

Your levelling order should be something like this:

  1. Power Cleave
  2. Fearless
  3. Power Cleave
  4. Fearless
  5. Lawbringer
  6. Power Cleave
  7. Power Cleave
  8. Fearless
  9. Power Cleave
  10. Fearless
  11. Fearless
  12. Change stance
  13. Change stance
  14. Change stance
  15. Change stance
  16. Change stance
  17. Lawbringer
  18. Lawbringer
  19. Lawbringer
  20. Lawbringer

You basically want to max your Power Cleave first for sustain, then max Fearless for the extra damage. Save your ult for either initiating or escaping. Prioritise the extra power and protections from stance switch before you level your ult further.

If you are playing Tyr in the jungle, i'd suggest maxing your fearless first for the extra damage.

Abilities - Combos

  • Fearless into Power cleave in Assault stance is your bread and butter combo. You can delay your power cleave for added CC when knocking someone up in order to push them further (2.3 sec CC and 70 units), or you can immediately go into a basic attack (2.2 second CC, 60 units and an AA).
  • Your Power cleave can be used to cancel your Fearless early so remember this if you are dashing to catch up to an enemy.
  • Tyr's fearless has a radius wider than it appears so you can catch people at the edge with a fearless that they might not be expecting.
  • Try to use auto attack cancels as Tyr's attack chain is 1/.5/1.5 damage meaning you can use Fearless, Power Cleave, AA, Stance switch, AA, Fearless, AA, Power cleave, AA
  • Backstepping with Tyr can be huge especially if you are being bullied out of lane, so make like you're running away, back step and catch the enemy with a fearless under tower.
  • Another combo is to use your fearless on guard stance to dash through someone, then cancel with your power cleave and immediately switch stance and fearless them again.
  • Tyr's fearless is one of the strongest CC abilities in the game it takes priority over most enemy dashes except for Hercules, so try not to get caught by his driving strike when you are trying to fearless.
  • Tyr's fearless is one of, if not the best buff secure in the game.
  • Make sure your sensitivity is high enough to be able to blink and change direction for a sweet 180 Fearless.
  • If you're playing joust or arena and want to practice blink Fearless - pick up upgraded Hand of the Gods as a training wheel in order to blink, stun and then fearless.
  • At level 9 once your Power Cleave is maxed, you are able to fight the enemy in their own minions as you will be healing for 330 hp. Before that focus on clearing the wave and try to only use your abilities when necessary as Tyr has a lot of mana problems early on.
  • One of the biggest tips for Tyr players is knowing when to use your fearless, be very careful especially with gods like Nox and Poseidon that you don't fearless someone out of Nox's 2 or the Kraken.
  • Tyr is a sleeper pick when it comes to Awilix and she is able to pull someone out of your combo
  • You can play a lot of mind games with people by holding your fearless, people will usually panic if they see a Tyr behind them, sometimes just by even showing up behind someone they will pre-emptively beads, meaning they are a sitting duck for the next time you want to go on them.

Laning Phase

  • Tyr is especially weak early game, since you no longer come into the wave at level 2.
  • Options are to either play it safe and lose some minions under tower and wait until you are around level 4 before being able to be a little more aggressive.
  • The option I am going for currently is the bluestone bumbas start where you immediately clear your blue buff and then head to lane. This works well on Tyr because his stance switch is available at level 1, meaning you can double proc bluestone on power cleave.
  • After surviving the first few levels, mid game is where Try really comes online, his sustain is better than pretty much every other god at this point, however for the max amount of sustain, you need to be hitting at least 3 targets with your power cleave. This is why at level 9 you can afford to fight the enemy solo lane in their own wave. You can usually save your fearless for the enemy solo laner at this point because you can both clear and sustain from power cleave more than the minions can poke you.
  • Late game you want to work closely with your team, try and dive the backline in order to fearless the mage/adc out of position either into the rest of your team or so they are unable to contribute to the team fight.

Pros

  • High single target damage
  • High CC
  • Probably the best passive in the game.
  • Good mobility
  • Stance switch gives 5 abilities
  • Very tanky

Cons

  • Needs cooldown
  • Mana hungry early on
  • Difficult for new players - the combo takes practice
  • Cripples and silences are your worst enemy

If anyone has any more tips or advice then let me know and I'll add it in.

Anyone ever thought about the Neith in the corner of the Chests tab?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:42 AM PDT

You can see the Neith with a bubble next to her with some text, did it ever occur to anyone if we could spice it up or put a different artwork ? Like putting a chibi Neith with possibly custom designs for every chest that matchest the text in the bubble they put in?

Just an idea but it would probably just waste time for the artists xD.

9 circles of hell compared to the various hells of smite

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:59 AM PDT

1st circle (Limbo): These are the unfortunate players that are stuck in the infinite limbo that is called "Matchmaking"

2nd circle (Lust): This is for the players who sadistically laugh spams after every kill, this also includes players that hit so hard that it could be considered r---

3rd circle (Gluttony): This is for the players that get fed early game and snowball till late game wherein you can't even do anything because of their sheer power. These are the types to say "I carried" and doesn't thank their team for helping them get fed. Are also excessive kill stealers and don't thank their team for the kill

4th circle (Greed): This is for the players that go dive in 1v5 trying to get a person who is super low expecting you to back him up, but just dies and blames you

5th circle (Anger): This is for the players that rage for the few minutes because your' team gave up first blood even though you guys caught up on gold

6th circle (Heresy): This is for the players that build whatever they want and expect to do good with the build

7th circle (Violence): This is for the people that go dive in 1v5 (similar to greed) but with no motives and wins the fight and makes the enemy team drop their jaws and surrender

8th circle (Fraud): This is for the people that spam VEG VEG VEG at the start of the match just because they have X on a god and utterly feed and make an excuse "I was lagging" because they're ashamed of their loss

9th circle (Treachery): This is for the people who say VAA VAA but is no where to be found on the actual team fight

There yah go folks

Edit: /u/TheRobidog thanks for the idea ahahha

Breaking out of CC early since the 4.11 patch?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:44 PM PDT

Hi guys over the past week or so I have been playing smite as normal but noticed some issues regarding CC. The problem is some gods are breaking out of cc without the use of beads or any other cc immunity? At first I thought it was just me but my mate started noticing the same thing like an Athena walking out of a level 20 Anubis wrap without any sort of cc reduction in her build, a few other examples I have seen is today while playing a game as Nike I walked flat out of a Ymir freeze all game for free with no escape or reduction, everyone else on the team was getting frozen for the normal time but I just walked away. Strange I know. Also seen people walking out of Daji chains without cc immunity? I'm not sure if I am just seeing things! My ping is a steady 30-40 as I thought that could have been the problem but no spikes. Anyone else seen anything similar of late?

A suggested buff for Izanami

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 03:32 AM PDT

I think Izanami has the potential to be a great god in both duo and mid if played right, but she has a pretty big weakness. Her leap. The delay on it is so bad and so easy to punish it just makes it unfun to play her sometimes. I understand that it gives her a stealth afterwards but I rather want my ESCAPE ability to be fast and reliable, especially on a god that has no real self peel.

So this is what I suggest: Make the delay on her leap faster but remove a few seconds of stealth. You can get out of a sticky situation faster but you have very little time to make a decision on where to go if you're getting chased down. I bet you this will put her in a WAY better spot. This is just my opinion on Izanami, she's my favorite hunter and I feel like she is struggling to keep her own against gods like Cernunnos who pretty much has the same kit as Izanami just better. It makes me sad
