Siltbreaker: Act I - Map (with secrets)

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 03:49 AM PDT

Siltbreaker: Make the condition for 3-stars "0 Buybacks" instead of "No deaths".

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 06:40 AM PDT

You know that you messed a chapter only if you are forced to buyback. But if you are able to clear a section with less members or if the team manages to revive a teammate during the hard fight it should be rewarded instead of getting punished for it.

Allow Siltbreak users to play eithier an Adventure mode or Challenge mode.

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 06:23 AM PDT

Adventure Mode - Less intense, explore the map etc..

Challenge Mode - Timed, speedruns etc..

Courier still puts items into your backpack even though there is space in your inventory (it depends on the order of the items in the courier) - oftentimes very annoying, please fix

3 star speed runs destroying replay value of Siltbreaker

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 01:37 PM PDT

The star system requiring you to complete sections in under a certain amount of minutes is complete killing the replay value of the game mode when playing with pubs. Half your team wants to speed run the first section and the other wants to play it slow to get gold. This applys to all sections but is most noticable on the first as people abandon after first death... Valve please remove the time requirements!! It's splitting the player base and causing bad games.

The current biggest problem with Siltbreaker is that you have two different types of people playing on the same mode - people who want to finish it and people who want to get three stars on every zone. And this issue simply comes down to the rating system and it's implementation in a campaign mode.

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 05:14 PM PDT

While the rating system works well in a wave based event, where the main aspect of the event is to try and improve each time you play, the addition of it in a campaign mode feels very much out of place.

In order to do well in the campaign (i.e. attempt to reach the end of the campaign) you have to kill every mob, search every nook and cranny for boxes and chests, and ultimately try to die the least amount of times possible. The rating system proves to be completely counter intuitive to the main aspect of the campaign, as it makes you rush through each zone as quickly as possible forcing you to miss out on vital items and gold.

The worst part is that it also affects what heroes people pick at the start of the campaign, since heroes with Crowd Control (CC) abilities are the most picked by people who wish to ace the zones quickly. And it's always impossible to tell what intentions the people your playing with have, until you're either in a lobby or in the campaign itself. Either of which wastes quite a bit of time when just trying to play a simple mode.

Ultimately the rating system either has to go or be improved upon to feel more fluid with the campaign. Replacing the time requirements (and perhaps the death ones as well) would most likely get rid of all the issues that are happening with the campaign. At least then there would be a possibility of similar goals when getting paired with rando's.

In it's current state it puts a huge strain on a otherwise fun event.

What if the Siltbreaker missions were each separate "games"? Like how the tutorial missions in reborn were laid out over a map?

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 10:51 PM PDT

Basically as said in title. Separate each mission into a separate game to play. Only allow a mission to be played once unlocked.

Other options if Valve really wants to keep how it is currently:

Allow saving of games and have the game saved each time you find a new checkpoint.

Allow players to start new games up to the farthest they have reached, with an average amount of gold and xp given as compensation for skipping earlier missions. Sure people doing speed runs might have fun doing the whole thing but others just looking to complete it might not want to keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Valve, can you PLEASE change back health bars for normal dota

Posted: 09 Jun 2017 06:25 PM PDT

I understand the reasoning behind removing them for siltbreaker, but it fucks with the base game and shouldn't REALLY be a problem to fix since you're all about removing/nerfing things for siltbreaker only today.

Epicenter stage changes according to teams networth difference

I just wish we get a solo Act in the future

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 09:45 AM PDT

I want to clarify that I really like what they've done with the campaing. It's not easy, and that's the best part. But at some point seeing your 3 star run gone because of teammates (even friends) gets too frustrating.

Act 1 is designed for 4 players and I dont expect Valve to balance a solo mode out of it, not at all. But maybe for next BP we could get a gamemode where you don't rely so much on teammates...for that we already have goold old doto.
