| Destiny Summer Showdown - Season 3, Challenge 3: "Your Legacy" Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:48 AM PDT Happy Hump Day, Guardians! Last week's challenge was absolutely incredible. I tasked you with racking up as many kills as you could in a single Patrol activity and you annihilated my wildest expectations. /u/BlazeBoss17 knocked out 10,000 kills in just under 8 hours, blowing the entire subreddit and some folks at Bungie away. This place was the talk of the town for your efforts and I salute you! Today, I'm issuing a different sort of challenge and I've brought along some friends to help me with it. Between now and Tuesday the 27th, your task is to create a Destiny emblem and the accompanying lore for that emblem. It must be original artwork and original lore content. Simple enough, yes? Ready? But Woodhouse, what about those friends you mentioned? Ah yes! Since this challenge isn't in-game and cannot be scored, we're going to need some judges. Normally, I call upon my fellow mods to assist me in judging the subjective challenges, but I felt that some expert opinions were needed for this one. MEET YOUR GUEST JUDGES!/u/PlainBen/u/NFSgaming/u/DEADPOOL-52When the entries close at 10am Pacific on June 27th, our three talented guest judges will each select one of your submissions as their winner. What do the winners get? In addition to the exclusive Destiny Summer Showdown champions' flair, Regal, the winning emblems will be turned into user flair later in the year. To submit, leave a comment that contains a link to your original emblem and a blurb about the lore connected to your emblem. You will be judged on the quality of both your artwork and your writing. GO!Yoooooo! /u/NFSgaming has graciously provided an awesome template for you. Check it out![link] [comments] |
| Introducing Destiny Raid Report Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:00 AM PDT My friend RedSox007 and I love raiding in Destiny. We wanted a site where we can get an in-depth look at raid statistics, so RedSox007 put together a website that is purpose-built to accomplish just that. Here is an example for ProfessorBroman: https://raid.report/ps/Professorbroman Features:
Green dots correspond to completed raids and red dots correspond to unsuccessful runs. Hover over a raid's dot to see its duration and how recently it occurred. As a raid gets older, it fades to white. A raid dot's height corresponds to its duration, with faster raids appearing higher. Click on a raid's dot to see its post-game carnage report. Check the FAQ if you are interested in more details. We are also working on a player rating system that will be coming soon. Developed by RedSox007 and BlazeBoss17. P.S. If you are on PS4 and want to go for some speedruns, send me a PM. [link] [comments] |

| What's The Most Stupid Thing You've Done In Game Recently (Or Ever)? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:31 AM PDT One of my least proudest moments happened over the weekend. I'd accumulated 300 Glass Needles and thought I'd try to roll a T12 capable arc armor Armamentarium (stats for 100% are 61/61 on a 400 copy). Off I skipped to the Exotic Kiosk and bought a spare copy to pump the needles into. I was understandably unhappy that 250 Glass Needles later (and at least 8 hours of farming for the Glimmer) I hadn't even seen one stat of 61. Then the cold, hard realisation struck me - I hadn't infused it from it's original 320, and at that Defense level it could never show 61/61 even if the roll was T12 capable. To really stress how dumb I was, this was the cost of my incompetence when using those 250 Glass Needles:
And do you know what was the icing on the cake? Distracted by the knowledge of my stupidity, when using my remaining 50 Glass Needles, I managed to accidentally reroll the wrong Armamentarium, and turned my previously 100% T12 solar armour copy into a steaming turd... I hope everyone had a much better weekend than I did! :D [link] [comments] |
| Destiny Legal News - Celebrity Edition No. 1 Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:26 AM PDT Lawyer guardian here, I plan on resuming with Vol. 5 sometime in August, but I know that in the meantime some of you have a fever and the only prescription is more Destiny Legal News (probably not though). So we got a couple of guest writers who did some fantastic field work and write-ups to help fill in the gap. Big thanks to /u/Myrddraai and /u/casmith07 for their contributions: Destiny Legal News - Celebrity Edition No. 1 Edit: Staring at a typo on page 2 that I can't correct until I get home from work and slowly going insane. This is why I need a full-time editor. Trall =/= Thrall. [link] [comments] |

| So you’ve reached 400 and are now ready to take on the 390 raids. Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:53 AM PDT So you've reached 400 and are now ready to take on the 390 raids. But chances are you still need to take care of a few things if you want to go into them completely prepared. Many times in recent memory people have asked me during raids what weapon they should be using, and most of the time that weapon has yet to be obtained. So, before heading right into a raid just because you reached 400 light, go grab a few of these must-haves. I've made a small simple list that will give you a well-rounded layout for just about any of the raids encounters, including challenge mode: Hunters: Fully Leveled Nightstalker – those tethers provide lots of orbs and a damage buff that comes in very handy for the quick-burn boss encounters. Warlock: Fully leveled Sunsinger – Nothing ruins an encounter more than hearing Nolanbot nonchalantly state "Guardian Down", but immediately seeing that same guardian activating self-rez radiance means the encounter can proceed as planned – just activate that radiance quickly before the rest of your team starts KOing themselves. Viking Funeral and touch of flame for damage buffs too! Titan: Fully leveled Defender – your team will always want blessings/weapons bubbles. These are advantageous in pretty much every raid encounter, plus you fully regain your health and shield upon activation (even with Presence of Crota!). Weapons: Take the time to obtain these exotic weapons; it will make everything go much easier for both yourself and your team: Gjallarhorn – still one of the most useful rocket launchers in the game. Never leave the tower without it. Sleeper Simulant – Take 6 of these to the Warpriest or Atheon, you can easily kill each in 1 damage phase. Black Spindle – Gather 2 friends and head on into the "Lost to Light" mission. Proceed through, being sure to take that left turn at Albuquerque to get onto the fallen ketch. Take 10 minutes to kill all taken (blights die first, then adds, then focus on boss after that) to get the black spindle. No reloading if all shots are precision! Wonderful DPS! Raze-Lighter – Close quarter encounters (deathsinger challenge, siege-engine, confluxes) show this exotic's true worth. Young Wolf's Howl is NOT a substitute; don't even bother with that thing. Dark-Drinker – Still the best for Aksis. Now, before everyone starts yelling "But Datto showed how the warpath does more DPS…"; remember, these recommendations are for newer raid people. It's far easier to just get inside a weapons bubble and start spin-killing Aksis than it is to find a good spot to warpath him to death while still catching all damage buffs. [link] [comments] |

| A Hunter Solos Enraged Oryx, The Taken King Posted: 26 Jun 2017 10:04 AM PDT Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5NORjHX6bQ This is a demonstration of a Hunter soloing Oryx, the final raid boss from the King's Fall raid. I had completed this solo on a Warlock and Titan previously, and wished to complete the trio :) Huge shoutout to Esoterickk for his completion first and laying lots of groundwork for the run. First thing's first - Why wait until enrage? I had spent a few hours practicing the strats, and at first I was completing the first 5-6 phases WITHOUT enrage. I noticed a few key things that eventually led to waiting for enrage: 1) The non-enraged rounds tend to be "messy." 2) The vessel is random and can steal bombs. 3) If a bomb is stolen, you are forced into an early shade round. 4) The non-enraged shade rounds are significantly more difficult than the enraged rounds, due to more thrall inside the bubble. For the reasons listed above, I chose to wait until enrage. It created a much more designed, routine, and rhythmic fight. You'll notice I don't wait the FULL 15 mins and only for about 12-13 mins. This is because the very first phase never proved a problem. Oryx would always enrage on phase 2 then. What's different during enrage? 1) After slamming down his fist, Oryx immediately opens his chest for the clap. 2) After initially stunning his chest, he regains his favor much faster and returns to his spawn point. Overall, everything just moves much faster and more aggressively. Why does enraged Oryx create better rhythm for the fight? After Oryx slams down his fist, the first Ogre spawns seconds later. Simultaneously, this is when Oryx begins opening his chest. These synced events provide a perfect opportunity for the Hunter's bomb damage. By placing 2 tripmines in the puddle and standing ready with a final round shotgun shell, the Hunter can instantly kill the Ogre. Immediately after, Touch of Malice's final round is used to stun Oryx's now opening chest. By standing close enough to the Ogre puddle during the insta-kill, you will be simultaneously detonating the bomb as you stun Oryx's chest. Then it's a simple reload of Touch of Malice, a few shots into Oryx's chest to keep it open, and sword block to block both the bomb damage and Oryx's fire. This insta-kill/detonate/stun/sword-block sequence is performed 16 different times for the kill, all without any room for error. This is what makes the run challenging; it's long and requires lots of intense concentration and reads. As with any normal Oryx clear, the first 7 bombs of damage trigger the AoE damage from Oryx; everything after that is a shade phase. Therefore, you are required to solo the shade (without a sniper) at LEAST 8 times during the run, flawlessly. I had to do it more than 8 times due to unfortunate circumstances that you'll see in the run. Why do you only detonate 1 bomb at a time? A max recovery Hunter build is the only build that can survive a SINGLE bomb with a sword block using this strategy. If you stack 2 bombs or more, they will kill you. A Titan is able to survive 4 bombs because of an Armor of Light bubble. What were the most difficult challenges during the runs? 1) The vessel being a dick. In order to stun Oryx with ToM, you pretty much need close to full health. The vessel would many times shoot over toward you right as you are about to insta-kill the Ogre/stun Oryx. This caused many wipes for me. I learned to carefully read the vessels position and abandon my post if he was anywhere near. 2) Light Eater Knights. These guys were basically a miniature version of the vessel. I always had to know which ones were alive and where they would be at the start of each phase. 3) The Shade of Oryx. It took a little while to get used to soloing the shade consistently with Touch of Malice. It requires a good balance between final round firing, reloading, and utilizing the healing perk within the gun (3 kills = health regen). 4) The pure length of the solo. It's just a long fight and it can be difficult to stay focused during the entire duration. Even though it's a long fight, it's worth the watch. It's very fast paced, and there are lots of butt-clenching moments/saves. You won't be bored! Hope you all enjoy the exciting run! Challenge yourself if you wish! See ya soon! | Is anybody sick of the "Gary" "Jokes" Posted: 25 Jun 2017 02:43 PM PDT At first it was hilarious in the trailer because of the juxtaposition of having this big intimidating character and then having Cayde mess up his name, but as the head of Activision showed us Cayde is funny because he is Cayde and the line fits in the situation. Especially since we know more about Dominus Ghaul and how legitiemently good the writing is to his character; Bungle designed one of the most intimidating characters in media so it feels lame calling him Gary and also kinda makes an amazing character a joke. Also it's just repetitive TL;DR Gary joke was charming when Cayde did it do to comedic set-up, but is getting repetitive and sorta ruins a really well made character but if you like the joke that's fine. | The one Destiny 2 improvement I don't see anybody talking about Posted: 25 Jun 2017 07:16 PM PDT The ships actually looks really nice and not like hot garbage. http://i.imgur.com/uAOlsFc.png http://i.imgur.com/pvCGS4s.jpg I'd hope I'm not in the minority in thinking Destiny 1's ships mostly looked terrible save for some of the raid ships and a few of the rarer designs. | Crota glitches enough without you red barring Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:46 AM PDT (Vent Post) So I got drug into a Crota run last night and was basically placed on 1st sword because no one else wanted to go first (no clue why, it's the easiest). 5 of us were green bar, one was red. We end up getting Crota down to the R, and then things started to jump all over the screen (for 3 of us). The red bar insisted nothing happened for him, the lobby was fine. This happened 2 more times and the group blamed it on the fact that I wasn't doing nearly enough damage first phase (even though I was dropping him below the comma with a weapons bubble and one of our hunters ran teather). The red bar decided to restart router and modem to see if he could better his connection (even though he and his friend insisted it wasn't him) and we tried again 5 man while he was gone, first try we wrecked Crota in 3 swords (2 full rounds and then finished him in the start of the 3rd). TL;DR - If you're going to red bar, own up to your connection issues and don't try to blame it on someone not having the skill for the job. [link] [comments] |
| What's the oldest weapon that you have? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 10:43 AM PDT Mine is the Tlaloc, even tho I main Hunter I just never thought about dismantling it even tho I never use it when I'm on my warlock since I got it on the launch of TTK Edit¹: remember that all will be gone in 2 and a half months [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:43 AM PDT I made a series of Destiny gunslanger crucible montages over the years. This one was my favorite, but I never shared it. Also apparently I found out that title is probably the least original for a gunslinger montage in the history of Destiny lol. Hope you enjoy anyway. I have another throwing knife montage in there that I think is alright. I hid the sub par older ones hah. [link] [comments] |
| We've theorized a lot about new elemental subclasses. What if we get SIVA instead? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:59 AM PDT SIVA is going to be present in Destiny 2, as seen in the guided games trailer. The description for a strike reads something like 'SIVA corrupted Fallen are hanging out in this ship. Go kill them'. And since SIVA somehow empowers guardians during the Aksis fight, does it make sense for us to eventually use that to our advantage? I think YES! I think it'd be fucking cool as fuck if we could cast SIVA nano mites in place of grenades, corrupt enemies, whip stuff with SIVA tentacles or spawn a fucking swarm that hunts down bad guys and disintegrates them. Maybe with the Rasputin DLC? SIVA has some connection the the Warmind, doesn't it? [link] [comments] |
| Question for someone who stopped playing a while ago Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:17 PM PDT I'm interested in getting back into Destiny and possibly getting Destiny 2 as well. However, the last expansion I played was House of Wolves. I dont really wanna buy the new expansions so i was wondering how far below max level (looks like it's 40 now) I'll be able to reach. Also any general tips to get back into it/level up quickly would be appreciated. Also another big question I had was about PVP, is there a good video or article or something talking about what weapons/stats are ideal? I remember when I got off handcannons were awesome but not sure if that's still the case. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

| The perk for Celestial Nighthawk should have been on a set of gloves. Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:11 AM PDT Just thinking about the recoil on a normal hand cannon then one empowered by light of the traveller to deal 6x a normal shot... you'd need some steady ass hands. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:05 AM PDT I went to EBGames in Australia and asked if they had anything Destiny related and the guy behind the counter said sure... figures... socks... I pre-ordered these and told him I love Destiny so much I made a podcast about it (Destiny Addicts Podcast)... He then went on to tell me he loved it as well and there was actually a Destiny 2 Onesie that he and a friend had pre-ordered if I wanted it... ADD IT TO THE LIST! I can't seem to find it online but my god... that's going to be my new "uniform" in D2! Not sure if it is public knowledge... I have proof on the receipt if you need it uploaded. It is $68 Australian. [link] [comments] |
| Handcannons, how do I use them? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:42 AM PDT Hey guys, ive tried them handcannons in PvE and PvP (Im still lvling, currently 35) and they dont seems to do any dmg? Like sure a single shot deals more damage then my Scout rifle or a singlee Pulse rifle shot, but with like 9 shot per magazine and slow shot attack speed I cant really clear the enemies fast enought So I always switch back to other weapons, which is sad since I LOVE pistols/handcannons normaly. Does it get better? Am I doing something wrong? [link] [comments] |
| Ok, lore masters, my wife is pregnant with our third son and I need some name ideas. Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:04 PM PDT I was lucky enough to marry someone who will tolerate my obsession and I was even more lucky to name my first two sons after video game characters but I'm struggling to find a third name. I really like Cayde but she says it's too plain in comparison to the other two sons names but Pradeyth is too far out there. [link] [comments] |
