This EAC bullshit is getting out of hand

Posted: 14 May 2017 03:17 AM PDT

Recently my friends and I have been having really bad server issues while playing. There is a delay while buying items, using abilities, etc. Often, I get sent back to the home page with the EAC error message popping up. We're all from the UAE, in case that's a factor.

EDIT: Holy shit, some people actually do not believe me. Gonna go grab some video brb

EDIT2: Footage captured, now editing/uploading. Also, this doesn't happen every match. I've had 1 Arena and 1 Joust match wherein I had little to none issues.

EDIT3: http://image.prntscr.com/image/6ac8b5a2925745c7b7e8db4e29c8eb88.png Here's the EAC error screenshot which happens at the end of this video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd6BToxdFhE&feature=youtu.be

EDIT4: Thanks to the guys who gave a technical explanation to the issue! It's now made apparent that EAC may not have anything to do with it. However, from my memory, my friends and I have all never suffered from rubber-banding or other ping issues simultaneously before this month. It can't be our internet provider's fault as some matches we played together are perfectly fine. I'm guessing that these issues are due to Hi-Rez's servers more than anything. (I didn't play much when EAC was implemented. My friend did and had a lot of issues the first week, but every week later he had no issue. I was able to play a week without errors but mid last month to now stuff was fucked for my friends and I.) I was wrong to believe that EAC was the cause, but as someone who doesn't completely understand how game servers work it is understandable, considering that such issues never happened prior to it. If y'all want proof of a good match I played before, I can upload one of the few captures I have.

If you don't play support, learn how to build it incase you're forced to.

Posted: 14 May 2017 09:56 AM PDT

Breastplate first item into void stone just ain't cuttin it in ranked.

Get your auras online first. Thebes, Sov, Heartward in whatever order necessary. If you feel like you're getting blown up build mark of the vanguard after boots.

Auras give too many team protections to avoid building them. CDR is too overvalued early game by the inexperienced support.

You can get your fair share of cooldown through cdr boots and a spirit robe late game. You also are left with at least 2 item spots to build situationally.

The biggest problem with Cernunnos

Posted: 14 May 2017 12:15 PM PDT

If it's your first time in Solo, don't panic: be confident in your skill.

Posted: 14 May 2017 10:33 AM PDT

Before I trasform this in something like a philosophycal argument n shit like that, I think the best tip about Solo you can give is: be confident, even if it's your first time.

Yeah, you may be in a bad matchup, yeah you may be not that confident on the God you picked, but play your game. Not saying go mental, but if you see an opening, go for it. If you think you can rotate and help pick up a kill, throw the wave away and do it.

When I started playing Solo I was scared and it heavily brought down my game and impact on the fights. A lot of my friend who tried the role told me the same thing: I'm scared of 1v1'ing, I'm scared of getting ganked, I'm scared of rotating when it's not needed and losing farm.

Yeah, those things can happen, but you should try it. In Solo you're alone pretty much for the majority of the time. Be confident and do your thing. You get ganked? It happens. You rotate at a bad time and lose farm? No worry, just go back and farm.

I know this may sound stupid but I wanted to share my idea on the role and, why not, in life too (I went philosophycal and shit anyway sigh). GLHF.

Will Hi-Rez ever stop dragging their feet and fix Cern?

Posted: 14 May 2017 04:20 AM PDT

Duke Sloth recently made a video on why he hates Cernunnos, and it seems to ring true with a lot of the community, as well as my own opinions.

This god is not only given too much, but he is a lazy design. Rather than a god with their own unique abilities that synergize together, Cernunnos has a bunch of stuff thrown into a single ability, and the rest of his kit seems disjointed, lackluster, and uninspired. Most of these effects on his first ability hunters need to buy, but Cern gets them for free, and he can use them freely (no mana cost) while the rest of his kit is just there to take up ability slots it seems.

I highly recommend Duke's video on the subject (strong language). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ohaErlgBLs

Why is the fantasy schedule still being updated 5 mins before a game starts? Presumably, these games are not being organised the morning they happen?!?

Posted: 14 May 2017 10:24 AM PDT

Seriously, this has been going on for most of S3 and all of S4 (at least), what is going on? Who is responsible for keeping the schedule updated? Why is it not just part of the process of organising matches that the fantasy schedule is updated as soon as it is drawn? Why does it take 3 days after a game is finished for the results to come in and FP distributed?

I don't mean to give an unconstructive rant, but this seems like the easiest thing in the world to organise. Does no one at Hi-Rez have the attention span to keep track of it? Feels like it is just being forgotten until someone panic-updates at the last second.

7 handicaps if you are doing something in customs or are smurfing to help out a friend

Posted: 14 May 2017 12:37 PM PDT

So recently I was rewatching a few old smite videos, and saw a smurf in a "petting zoo" sort of way. He'd clear waves, and kill people he thought were smurfs. However for the most part he wouldn't kill his enemies... on purpose, most of the time... point is unless the enemies were truly inept he wouldn't try to kill enemies. Heck in one way he took herc (who at the time had mitigate wounds that healed for 120% of the health taken) mystic mail and hide of the nemean lion. Then just stood there and hit 3... and somehow kept killing his enemies because mystic mail/nemean lion damage along with minions. So here I thought of giving some ideas for fun handicaps to give yourself.

  1. Ability Only: not using auto attacks as ability based gods: So yeah this may not seem so terrible. However you'll quickly realize early on you need auto attacks to finish off wave minions, to take down towers faster, or just to output some damage while waiting for some abilities to come off cooldown.

  2. No Abilities: Not using abilities as hunters: So kinda like the first one. You lose a lot of the aoe and wave clear, but it can make figuring out how hunters can work without using abilities. I'd usually just say using means activating an ability so with passive abilities like cernunos' 1 (although it'd be stuck as lifesteal) you could find decent ways to do interesting things.

  3. The Pacifist: basically don't attack/aim at enemy gods. Still ok to clear waves and attack towers. However the main idea is to not attack gods, Kinda like the example of hercules killing people through pressing 3 and standing still you just kinda see how long you can survive or see if you can manage to get the enemies to kill themselves through your build or the environment.

  4. Exceptionally weird builds: You just make a build that makes almost no sense. For example auto attack bacchus. It'll put you on an overall lower powerlevel than you would normally have, but it may be decent to combine it with another handicap depending on the skill of your allies or enemies.

  5. Denial: The main idea of this handicap is kinda like the Pacifist one. The way it works is that you simply just clear out the enemy jungle and just try to deny the enemy their farm/kills.

  6. Overprotective: You basically attach yourself to an ally and will stay with them. If anything comes to harm them then go ahead and attempt to murder whatever is trying to harm your ally. If they die either attach yourself to another ally or just wait in base.

  7. Only Big Spender: Basically the idea is that you do not buy any items unless you can buy the tier 3 version, and usually the more expensive items that are at least 26k gold in cost. At then end you'll have a ton of really powerful items (that have like no synergy) however it'll take you awhile to get there.

So those were a few handicaps to use for fun. Anyone else have any other fun handicaps/playstyles for when you are either doing something fun with friends or when your enemies are just exceptionally bad.

Gaming and Reaction Time Survey, Year 12 Assessment Task... Help Me Pls... D:

Posted: 14 May 2017 04:14 PM PDT

I think this community is seriously overreacting about Cern.

Posted: 14 May 2017 07:59 AM PDT

Like seriously y'all are crazy. There are posts saying to take away the damage on his ult, remove the root on his 2, and lower the area of effect on his ult even more. Do you guys seriously want to turn Cernunos into the new Raijin!? I personally never found cern to be that hard to deal with. Sure his 2 is hard to avoid completely but the root itself is easy to juke. As for the ult, there is a thing called beads, not to mention the fact that there are many gods who have some kind of CC immunity in there kit. Plus in terms of spl performance I'm pretty sure he only won like half the games he was in. I think right now that cern is like the Au Kong of ranked. Op until you guys learn to deal with him.

[GOD CONCEPT] Iris - Goddess of the Rainbow

Posted: 14 May 2017 08:52 PM PDT

I feel like this goddess has been done to death, but I wanted to share my take on it! I know Iris is a popular pick to take Nu Wa's old passive, so I originally wanted to make her a pusher like Old Wa, but decided to instead make her a healer/supportive mage. Numbers are not final obviously, and please leave any and all feedback!

Iris
