| Posted: 04 May 2017 02:41 AM PDT Edit:Bad title: THE DECKS FOR EACH RECIPE SHOULD BE PURCHASABLE!! sry! It makes no sense to retain it the way it is. Charge $20 for each.. maybe even 30, but as it stands, the decks are expensive and average in terms of dust and strength respectively. (If you actually cared about your f2p players, you would charge $30/2000gold for each deck) The rogue deck "The Dig" is the worst. There simply cannot be a replacement for the quest card. The WHOLE DECK IS BUILT AROUND IT! Why does this feature even exist when most ppl can simply find netdecks? Give more decks slots :P [link] [comments] | ||

| How I Got Screwed Out of the Tavern Hero Championship Posted: 03 May 2017 12:48 PM PDT First off, I want to start this post by stating that I will not be mentioning any names or event locations, to avoid any hate being thrown around. But I felt the need to make this post because I can barely contain the anger that I'm feeling over this, and I just need to vent. About two months ago, I got the news that a local store would be hosting a Tavern Hero Qualifier. I've been hoping to get one in my area for some time now, and this was the first time any local store actually hosted one. Needless to say, I was pumped. I generally don't have the time (nor do I enjoy the process) to grind to top 100 legend, so this was my one shot to make it to Prelims. The event was being held about one week after the release of Un'Goro. When the set dropped, I spent the entire week practicing with friends to nail down my decks so I could be as prepared as possible. That hard work paid off when I showed up to the event and went completely undefeated through both swiss and the cut to top 8. I won the whole thing, and I fist pumped all the way home. It was the most awesome HearthStone experience I've ever had. That was about a month ago. In that time I followed up with the Innkeeper to ask about reporting and if he needed anything else from me. He already had my Battle Tag, and he told me that reporting was due "by the end of the month". Then Blizzard released the blog post stating that invites would be sent out by May 2nd. That made sense to me. Reporting is due by the end of the month, invites go out shortly thereafter. Perfect. Fast forward to yesterday. At this point I've spent literally an entire month doing nothing but practicing for this event. I played a little bit of ladder for rewards, but 90% of my in-game time was spent practicing matches and tweaking my lineup. Countless hours have gone into preparation for this, I'm beyond excited. So I waited. And waited. And the invite never came. This morning I follow up with a friend of mine to see who I need to contact to get this sorted out. He tells me to contact the Innkeeper and send an email to firesidegatherings. So I did that. I also tweeted both Brode and @HSesports. The tweets got no response, but the email got a response rather quickly. They said a bunch of things about how it was the Innkeeper's responsibility, and I get that, but the final result was essentially that I'm out of luck because the Innkeeper screwed up. So now I've spent an ENTIRE MONTH of Hearthstone doing nothing but preparing for a tournament that I EARNED entry into, and now I won't get to participate because of a technicality out of my control. I've never looked forward to something in a game so much, and I can't ever remember being this disappointed. I'm hoping this post will get some traction to bring this to Blizzard's attention so something like this never happens again. Because let me tell you, this sucks. TLDR: I won a Tavern Hero Qualifier, the Innkeeper waited too long to report it, and now Blizz is telling me I can't play :( [link] [comments] | ||
| Introducing: Barny's Milling Co. Posted: 04 May 2017 05:12 AM PDT update: Hi everybody! I wanted to introduce my favourite deck to you all, Barny's Milling Co. This druid quest deck helped me get my golden Malfurion portrait and has given me my most exciting and fun games in Hearthstone yet. If you're interested in a druid quest build that's fun to play and can win a few games - if not necessarily take you to legend - read on! About Me: I'm a dad of two and a high school teacher. I like playing Hearthstone, but I love thinking about it. Deckbuilding has always been the primary challenge of the game to me - it feels good to rank up and validate my creations, but my patience (let alone time) for grinding out wins is not, er, legendary. I started playing Hearthstone in 2015, took a long break, and commenced again shortly after the One Night in Karazhan adventure was introduced. I had great time with the game but found myself needing to enforce another break... so I dusted all my cards in January. It was the right call at the time. Very cathartic - I recommend trying it! As fortune would have it, a little later some changes were announced and I found myself with almost exactly enough dust to craft the entire golden Hall of Fame. As a frugal spender, having only ever bought the welcome bundle and two adventure wings, I was about to have an opportunity to build dream decks that I'd never really had before. So I had no hesitation crafting a jade-heavy Caverns Below deck on Morning 1 of Journey to Un'Goro, and what would later become Barny's Milling Co. that afternoon. The List: The Cards and Gameplay: Finding Barny in the jungle is obviously your main priority in most games. This might not be the fastest Jungle Giants deck around, but it can happen quickly when the right cards find your way into hand. You'll usually be playing the quest turn one, but coining out a Tortollan Forager or something bigger with Innervate is not likely to leave you without a chance to play it before your first 5-attack minion. What you're optimally looking for in the mulligan is a curve from an early Elder Longneck - with a protective adaptation like +3 Health, Divine Shield or Stealth - into a Celestial Dreamer, ticking off your first two quest requirements and establishing a gnarly board presence. Along with Lotus Agents, Elise, and your Dark Arakkoas, these cards represent the straightforward, no-cheats-required path to Barnabus, the Stomper. Those three-drops are especially excellent between 6 and 9 mana, as you can play them in concert with your other strong minions to regain the board. Kun is the perfect card to use to end the quest - and that's where the fun starts. Refreshing your mana crystals and following it up with Barny and then Nourish can lead to some incredible swings. And there's plenty of draw... The pleasure of Milling Your Opponent is something I learned about in the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan period. I was having a ton of fun using Daring Reporters to hedge the downside of Naturalize, which is otherwise too costly as removal unless the circumstances are dire. Eventually it clicked that this lightweight mill package was perfect for my slowly evolving druid quest deck, which really shines with the cheap - or even free - draw provided by Coldlight Oracles. A Fight Promoter is amazing to stumble into as a 0-cost Draw 2 Free Minions, but two in the deck can really ruin your early game. Now, be careful! It's hard to decide when to mill - it's easy to get overexcited! Don't make the mistake of filling your opponent's hand unless you're sure the burn will be worth it. That said, if you get reporters on the board that can't be answered, mill those suckers! With the emergence of greedy Priest varieties that live on the edge of disaster, knowing you've got tools to force draw close-at-hand can be a massive motivator. Often a healthy burn will net a shame-drenched conceit. Now Druid isn't the greatest class for Control Options, with a particular weakness still being board clears. Swipe is a must-include, and if you're lucky with the mulligan and know which classes to keep it against - namely Hunter and Warrior - it can swing a game even against the most stubbornly aggressive builds. Likewise, and not least because it's even more draw, Wrath is vital for clinging on in the (admittedly soft) early turns. Never hesitate to use that 3-damage option! Fandral in this context usually works best as an on-curve ultra-taunt: the card that draws unfavourable trades or removal from even the most brutal of face-smashers. What's new here is Earthen Scales, which is a fantastic addition to the class generally and - if managed correctly - can keep you alive long enough to get to Kun. While greed with this card has at times allowed me to build up a massive buffer of 20 or even 30 armour, in some cases I've felt it was the right play to buff a small minion to enable one crucial, early trade. Now, despite the refrain, no, you haven't "already won" by the time you get Barnabus on the board. Far from it. Because of the speed at which you're travelling through both decks, I often found that games were going to fatigue, especially against Priests, Warriors, Mages, Shamans and other Druids. As such, a concern became Late-game value. The Foragers are instrumental here, but equally so are Elise, the Trailblazer and our Lotus Agent. If you are playing Elise in a deck where the Un'Goro Pack's impact is rarely felt, you should try Barny's Milling Co. With free minions, you'll have plenty of mana to have fun with your 5 Un'Goro cards. And stumbling into a Lotus Agent late can give you just about anything you need - board presence, heal, or burst damage, potentially still with 10 mana to play with. Lastly, though it's not earth-shattering alone, a 12/12 C'Thun can be too much for an opponent to handle if you've exhausted their options with a steady stream of threats. As for Evolving Spores? That is just plain greed. The Match-Ups: Taunt Warrior: This is probably my favourite match-up of all time! While this ubiquitous deck has become lean, mean and fast since the early days, Barny is still in with a red-hot chance. What I love about this duel is the intense decision making involved in getting a win. There's an especially interesting dynamic here, where your best, easiest defence against Sulfuras' Hero Power - going wide - also leaves you vulnerable to Brawl, which can make your immense, free board irrelevant. So commitment is key, but over-commitment is fatal! Especially important is managing your Earthen Scales. Hitting a 5-attack minion with this is frankly not going to give you the buffer you need against the arbitrary brutality which will soon be at hand. Save them for Barnabus, or even better, a fat C'thun. Freeze Mage: Because of the options for armour, this match-up puts you very much in favour. Yes, it can be frustrating to have a glorious board stuck behind a wall of ice, slowly waiting to pop an Ice Block, but patience pays dividends. Don't rush it! Use Kun for his armour, and be wary of combos, especially if they're playing a Quest variant. This is one occassion where pushing for a couple of burnt cards can win you the game in a trail of ashes. Control Paladin: This is another great one that will probably come down to misplays on either side. A steady stream of on-curve minions - especially your Arakkoas - will often bait out a lot of their removal, but be wary of Equality if you haven't seen it and are tempted to double-down on a big free-minion swing-turn. Reporters, as usual, can win games even in the face of Aldor Peacekeepers. They're a good tool in this duel, but remember that milling a Paladin will give them more removal than you can out-value. Let her build up naturally if you can. And you might want to save your Naturalize for the first, second or third Tirion... Jade Druid: This is another great match-up that I love stumbling into. I think Barny's favoured here. The key is putting the opposing Druid on the back foot, and not concerning yourself too much when they pull a 'miracle' turn with Auctioneers. Canny deployment of your Daring Reporters can take this option off the table. The decision to mill here is a rich one - they want to get to fatigue, after all! Usually though, this is one battle that you can win on the basis of your modest early curve as long as you remember, for once in your life, you're aggro now. Elemental Shamans: I like this battle! The danger zone is between turns 7 and 10, when your quest is likely still developing and they start to unleash Blazecallers on your face. You can also never discount the possibility of a Bloodlust, so keep the board in check with trades. Few of your minions will succumb to Lightning Storms, and there's too much value here for two Hexes to mess with your gameplan, so stay the course and you should take them right to the line. Assorted Priests: Not sure what the names for these decks are. There are a lot of different priest builds around, that run the gamut from dragon-heavy mid-rangers to pure combo decks relying on Divine Spirit and Inner Fire. Because it's hard for me to pin down archetypes at the moment, I'm still learning how to beat priests consistently - but I look forward to seeing Anduin! One suggestion: don't let your opponent fill their hand using a Northshire Cleric in the anticipation that you'll be able to mill them later. Usually, you just lose quickly. And with Lyra hanging around, finding chances to punish greedy, bloated hands will not be too remote. Daring Reporters are a nice curve play here, because they'll sit at 4/4 for a turn and trigger your enemy's flight reflex. Quest Rogue, Mid-range Hunter and anything Aggro: Nope. Just die quickly and graciously. This deck is for people who don't mind still losing to zoolock in 2017. Q&A: Who should play this deck? Druid fans who are looking for a quest build that doesn't totally suck eggs; any player looking for a fun deck with some impressive spins and dynamic gameplay; and anyone getting frustrated by slow, grindy competition. What can I replace? Fandral could go, actually! Kun can't, really. Sorry. He's too good. Elise just makes up so much of the deck's character to me, and the way the games ultimately play out, but swapping her for a second Lotus Agent would make sense. Evolving Spores could easily - perhaps optimally - be ditched for a Feral Rage, and if you're into traditional fatty-druids, you could swap the C'thun package for some big dragons or other old gods, though you'd want options for taunts without the Arakkoas. Why no ramp? Why only one innervate!? Well, Nourish is great for ramping up to Kun! Wild Growth - though I love it dearly - is just too slow when you're also trying to get 5 specific minions played and contest the board. That three-mana slot is well catered for: it doesn't need skipping. As for the innervate, it's traditionally the worst late-game top-deck ever, but it stings so much more when it took the spot of a free minion. One is enough to come in handy and not leave you with a useless hand later on. Why did you write this if you're not even that good at Hearthstone? I love talking about Hearthstone maybe even more than I like playing it. I also like writing - it's how I deal with the important things to me! If a couple of people enjoy the read, even if nobody bothers to give this deck a crack, it'll have been worth it. Anyway! Let me know if you do give it a go! [link] [comments] | ||

| Will hearthstone ever get a decent reconnect feature? Posted: 03 May 2017 08:13 PM PDT Was playing heroic brawl and my internet went out (not a big deal, comes back in a sec), so nothing really changed for me. However, hearthstone decided that I needed to skip a complete turn even though my internet was fine. ok not the end of the world, I can still win as I can completely clear his board and have the advantage. As I watch his animations happen at normal speed, he ends his turn. Alright, time to come back in this. Nope. Turn instantly ends. Rope burns out instantly. I cant do anything, even though I'm there, ready to go, with internet access, but ey blizzard has a really good reconnect so that was a fun waste of a game [link] [comments] | ||
