Fallout - Now that the technology is available, I'd love to see an extremely gritty, hopeless, no holds barred Fallout game.

TL;DR: Love to see a Fallout game taking place right after the bombs fall with no sense of civility or advanced societies.

Going through my seemingly yearly replays of all the Fallout games and Fallout 4 really is just a completely pussy game. Always the good guy, predetermined good guy story, nearly everyone you meet is doing some job and is happy and has something menial for you to do.

I think FO3/NV tried to make a much grittier game but the technology really limited what it could be, and in Fallout 3's case you were still pigeonholed into joining some big faction that already has a super advanced society.

Personally I'd love to see a game take place something like 5-10 years after the bombs fall, where most people are still in disarray and there aren't huge advanced governments fighting for control already, just anarchy and evil mostly. There are just so many possibilities and freedom with quests to create factions, exterminate survivors/entire vaults (if evil), exterminate creatures (if good). It would make any prewar tech you find extremely valuable (also due to no BoS/Enclave yet), unlike where it's just shoved in your face at every opportunity in Fallout 4 that being a badass is meaningless. Stuff like pristine advanced weapons and power armor would be nearly necessary if you wanted to end the game solo fighting everything, similar to Fallout 1, and realistically not doable for a while in order to prevent it from devolving into a loot and shoot game and not an RPG like FO4.

A big opportunity Bethesda missed in Fallout 4 would be an encounter with the synth version of you.

A voiced protagonist basically makes this something that really should have happened.

FNV is one of, if not the, greatest RPGs of all time, and yet I play it the same way each time.

Connection between Fallout Shelter and Fallout 4

Posted: 01 May 2017 07:42 AM PDT

Hi everyone,

I might be wrong at this point, but I remember reading somewhere that you could import your vault data from Fallout Shelter to Fallout 4 and get some sort of benefit in the new game.

I just purchased Fallout 4 and I started looking into this online, but I can't find anything. Is there some sort of connectivity between the 2 or am I not remembering correctly?

Thanks!

Will synths make a return in Fo5?

Posted: 01 May 2017 09:21 AM PDT

WARNING: Mild Spoilers to Fo3 and Fo4, You've been warned

So, everyone knows the boogie man of the commonwealth, the Institute. Everyone remembers when they encountered two of the same person (I think his name was Arthur or Art, I don't remember) shooting at each other and you either killed one of them, you either killed them both, or left them alone. Well to newcomers who are still confused why there were to is that one of them was a synth. Don't forget that the synths were even in Fallout 3. If you did the quest "The Replicated Man" you have to find a synth and give it back to a person named doctor Zimmerman or give him an artificial part of said synth. I decided to give they synth back to Zimmerman, I'm not the nicest guy in the wastes. Getting of track here, but the point is we met a synth before they played a big part in Fallout. So if they appeared before they were important, will they appear after this? Now I don't mean as a faction, but in Fo3 you've seen some random brotherhood outcasts, so maybe you could encounter a pack of random synths. Do you think Synths should be in Fo5? Tell me in the comments.

Starting FO4 over...

Posted: 01 May 2017 08:25 AM PDT

What are some things you would do differently starting a new play through of FO4? Like hitting up the cellar behind the house in sanctuary, or going into the sewer after the first Deathclaw encounter…

Any reason DC wasn't destroyed?

Logically you'd think someone would drop a nuke right on the capital.

Zenimax should make a Fallout TV serial

Posted: 01 May 2017 02:52 PM PDT

Fallout has a rich universe that is ripe for adaptations, and a tv series imo could benefit it greatly. also FO4 would've made a better tv show than it does a game.

Is there a specific reason you never get night vision goggles in FO?

Posted: 30 Apr 2017 11:31 PM PDT

It seems like night vision goggles would be a natural fit for stealth enthusiasts especially. I would like to get them just because I find the Pip-Boy light to be a little intrusive. I feel like every bad guy and hostile creature in the wasteland is alerted to my location when I turn it on. I'm sure Bethesda has discussed the idea of night vision goggles. Wonder why they never end up in the games(unless you use mods of course).

Fallout in Canada?

Posted: 30 Apr 2017 07:48 PM PDT

If you think about it, there would be a shit ton of Power Armor and weapons up there. The amount of deadly stuff there can be turned up to 11 and be justified.

It can also be a chance to show what the Pre-War gov done there, such as public executions (Fallout 1 intro comes to mind) and more of the darker side of the US government. Aside from human experimentation to civilians.

What are the things that remind you of the NCR?

Posted: 01 May 2017 01:46 PM PDT

In fallout 4 on console or pc, (sadly I'm console) what are in your opinion some amazing mods that will not hurt immersion. I'm starting a new play through and I want to make the best of it. I just got finished with my New Vegas play through. New Vegas> F3

New to Fallout 3 and a few mod questions.

Posted: 01 May 2017 12:11 PM PDT

Hello!

First of all, I've had some experience with modding Oblivion and Skyrim so I can generally follow how modding FO3 should go, but I also heard that it's not the most stable game around. Now, with the number of optimization mods Oblivion had, I'm sure that FO3 has a lot of them too and I'm not exactly sure what the "ideal" configuration is.

I'm assuming it's just the Stutter Remover and ENBoost, but I want to know what works for you guys. I don't plan on using any ENB stuff so the ENBoost option is tempting to me.

If it helps, my setup's a Pentium G3258 + a 1GB GTX 650 Ti (but my card is actually a 2GB GTX 950 I put on my brother's PC for a bit) and 8 gigs of RAM. Also running Windows 8.1.

I'd really appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks!

P.S. Also played FO1 and FO2, awesome games.

Does the PC respons differently to Knight-Captain Cade's question on communicable diseases now?

Posted: 01 May 2017 12:06 PM PDT

When you first enter the Prydwen, you have to meet all the crew. While meeting the ship's medic, he does an exam on you. When I played Fallout 4 in past playthroughs, you answer the communicable disease question with, "I've never been sick in my life." However, when I replayed it yesterday, the player says, "I've never been seriously sick in my life." Is this different, or am I remembering it differently?

I've experienced the most bizarre bug in my time playing Fallout.

Posted: 30 Apr 2017 11:08 PM PDT

I've been trying to complete the GRA achievements Overkill and Cracker Jack Timing. For those unaware, they require you to kill animals/cazadores with nukes/homemade explosives respectively.

I've found that these creatures are invulnerable to the specific weapons here. I managed to get a Cazador with 4 health bar ticks ontop of a timebomb, and it DIDN'T FUCKING KILL IT. I've nuked countless coyotes with LY, BK, and TT nukes, and they walk it off like they're fucking Indiana Jones in a fridge.

[question] Is there a FO4 mod that makes fast travel like world travel in FO2?

Posted: 01 May 2017 10:55 AM PDT

I believe Bethesda missed a great opportunity to capture the danger of FO1/2 travel by allowing fast travel to be instant and safe.

Is there a mod for bring this back to FO4?

IKEA makes a very Fallout-like display unit

It's called the Fabrikor. I just put my first one together and it's so tempting to add some rust effects, lunchboxes and bobble heads.
