True Dota 2 - Does anyone here have experience with support Monkey King?

Does anyone here have experience with support Monkey King?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 12:03 PM PDT

Hi, I'm about 4.6k and I havent had much time to watch DAC but I've played a few Monkey king games since then.

It seems optimal to rush basher after phase boots so you contribute a crap load of cc with with your ult. I was checking igs games and it looks like boboka goes midas>shadow blade>basher as his preferred build though... Does he fall off midgame without basher if I don't get midas early enough or can I justify midas every game?

Does anyone have a guide or experience with some specific tips to playing him as a support? Wanted to learn him more as a support because he seems fun and impactful at all stages of the game (good when ur stuck with supp in pubs).

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Does Ancient Apparition need a rework?

Hero feels so unrewarding to play. Shit hp, no escape mechanism, no reasonable disable, needs farm and level 6 so he can't truly be used as a hard support.

He's essentially food for popular supports like Monkey King and Earth Spirit. His absence in the pro-scene also makes Alchemist a very potent pick.

I have gained 1000 MMR (2580 ---> 3640) since soft region lock has been implemented. What are your experiences?

This is the best thing that has happened to Dota2 regarding my personal experience. I play on USEast, and before the soft region lock, it was rare that I had more than one other English speaking team mate. Dota 2 is a team game that requires tons of coordination and communication, and I was completely unable to do this most of the time. I'm usually the one to try to coordinate a gank or push or rally the team, but if nobody speaks English, that is near impossible. For the entire time I played ranked I hovered around 2600 MMR +/- about 200. I don't know why I kept at it, because it was so incredibly frustrating. Besides my MMR climb, here's some things I notice most in terms of what has changed in games for me.

  1. Before soft region lock, my team would literally pick 4-5 carries. I usually ended up playing support, because if I picked a carry or mid, someone else would steal the lane with a carry or mid. Now that region lock is a thing, I usually get at least two solid supports, or a support and a roamer / ganker. Because of this, I can now play carry more, which is a position I a much better at than a poor position 5 support.

  2. People actually listen if you speak their language. Also, the sky is blue, and water is wet. Seriously though, trying to coordinate a smoke gank with 4 people who don't speak English, even if you use the in game alt-ping commands, just doesn't happen.

  3. People rage less. They still do, but at least I have a chance to calm them down or play peacemaker, because I can understand them. When I do lose games, I generally see that attitude of "Well, at least we all tried and communicated -- they were just better than us."

  4. The game environment is less toxic, by far. So much less rage pings, intentional feeding, ability abuse, courtier feeding, and giving up / abandoning after 10 minutes because you died twice.

Those are the big ones. Am I unique here, or do you all have similar experiences?

Does desolator still need to be a unique attack modifier?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 08:04 AM PDT

Or really any unique attack modifier at this point. Looking at the remaining list http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Unique_Attack_Modifier, I can't find any combination that would wildly effect the game in it's current state. Life steal on antimage and drow may be good, but am's don't even make vlads anymore and have been weak due to the speed of the recent patches, and drow can turn off the slow if she wants life steal. The heros it might affect the most is probably PA/TA with early life steal and deso. However PA is already underrepresented, and TA is too squishy to really make use of life steal. MoM already isn't pick up on just about any hero, and satanic isn't too popular, so it could serve as a bit of a buff to both of them.

So what do you guys think, is there some wildly op combo I'm missing here, or is this an old mechanic that has been slowly phased out and just needs a final push?

4K+ Abaddon spammers, what do you do if you are zoned out of a tri lane offlane?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 09:51 AM PDT

Do you go and farm the neutrals or do you just try to tough it out and get the most out of your offlane?
Or do you go to another lane to contribute for your team? What should you do if you are alone in an impossible tri lane?
What items do you build? What minute by minute timing changes do you have because of this?

Alchemist Mid Build

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 09:18 AM PDT

What's everyone's preferred Alchemist build build now, with the rise of it in DAC? Stick with the normal core build?

What do I do against the 5 minute gangbangs?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 03:50 AM PDT

So something that's been getting more and more common, as well as making the game less and less fun, is how it just takes one small fight in a lane for laning phase to be over.

I've had multiple games where simply going in for the kill on my lane opponent will force multiple heroes to teleport into my lane to help the other side. Something as simple as trading hits can turn into a 4v4 situation within a minute. The same goes for ganking, it's rarely ever worth it.

Obviously having a 4v4 happen in your lane is awful for your gpm and exp, especially when the core decides to start taking the jungle too, so I'd love a way to turn this into a positive thing for me, as there's obviously a reason this doesn't happen in high MMR.

What do I do in this situation? Do I stay and help my team when they eventually fight? Do I teleport to one of the many empty lanes and farm that? Do I push down a tower?

Does Deso affects the first hit?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 06:58 AM PDT

Since the enemy does get a debuff if you hit him with a deso, im curious if the first hit is actually amplified by the deso.

Tips for playing manfight carries? (specifically Naix and Jugg)

Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:27 PM PDT

I'll be honest, I've been playing the game for 3 years+ and at 5k MMR, while I'm good with heroes that are mobile and usually doesn't fight in a heads-on 1v1 (PA, Mirana, Lina, Naga etc), I can't seem to get a hang of playing certain manfight carries like Naix and Jugg.

I would like to understand stuff like when to use rage/spin, when to omnislash, how often do you farm as a Naix instead of infesting your teammates and hunting around the map etc. It may sound funny but yeah there are just stuff that I really suck at probably because of the nature of my playstyle.

Bloodstone heroes in ultra lategame

Posted: 04 Apr 2017 08:39 PM PDT

Heroes like Lina, Lesh, Storm have Bloodstone as a core item, the first big item to be build, but when the game has gone over an hour long, you have few charges left, what is more worth doing: Buying a new bloodstone with 12 charges or some other item? Watching CCnC playing against Naga+Techies and he went for the new bloodstone, any thoughts on the why?
