Weekly Role Discussion Thread: Support - April 29, 2017

In this weekly thread you can discuss the Support roles of Overwatch to your heart's delight. What are the characteristics of those heroes?

The objective of support is to heal, buff and provide utility. Support heroes boost the overall performance of their team by increasing their survivability, speed, and damage output. They are generally the worst duelists and are best when surrounded by teammates.

Share guides and strategies that are valuable to a Support Overwatch Hero or other tips and tricks that helped you to get better. You can also propose ideas why a certain hero is bad in your eyes and how to make it better. Please do so in a constructive way!

Hello, former brethren! I hail from /r/heroesofthestorm and I'd really just like to ask, given the events going on right now, for you guys to try your best to have a little respect for the time of others when you're in the Nexus farming games for those Genji and D.Va skins!

We've been experiencing a whole lot of people just coming into QM and AFKing for the rewards, which is leaving a lot of long-time players frustrated, and I'm sure the flowing salt doesn't leave a good impression for either party.

I really encourage all of the players coming from Overwatch to at least try to play the game properly and have a little fun. Most of the community is really welcoming for anyone who's actually interested in learning more about the game, and I myself have been queuing up with plenty of new players to show 'em the ropes as I've seen them! In the end, I'd really love it if we could all just have fun, without wasting the time or ruining the fun of others to get those sweet, sweet rewards!

Edit#2: Apparently, you guys are also getting these skins in normal loot boxes at a later date, as confirmed here. If you find it exceedingly torturous to play Heroes of the Storm, I suggest waiting for these skins to hit normal loot boxes whenever they get around to it.

And hey, if you don't know what I'm talking about, well, Blizzard is holding a crossover event with some really cool rewards for both games, and all you have to do is play a few matches every week!

This weeks rewards are the Oni Genji skin, with a matching spray and player icon, for those of you who missed it last time!

Next Week, the week of May 1st, you'll be able to get the Officer D.Va skin!

The week of May 8th will give you the spray and icon for the Officer D.Va skin!

And finally, on the week of May 15th you'll get 10 loot boxes!

I can't recommend enough for anybody interested to go ahead and try the game now, especially with so many wonderful crossover events and rewards being offered, but please just remember that we're all people too, and us veteran players still want to have fun, not just farm quests!

Edit: Front page, cool! For a little sidenote, since there's been a couple comments asking at this point, this week (Oni Genji Skin) is the only quest you will be able to complete in vs AI. All future quests, including the Officer D.Va skin, will need to be completed in QM, which is why I thought to make this post. There's already a minor problem now, and I'm sure it will only continue to get worse as players are no longer able to take the easy 5-minute AI matches to complete these quests. I really do encourage anyone who was thinking of doing the things I described to reconsider, and attempt to let everyone have a little fun on your road to acquiring free goodies.

TL;DR Lots of people coming from Overwatch are AFKing and throwing matches for rewards, and we'd really appreciate it if you'd think of others before doing stuff like that.
