What was your favorite patch and why?

Mine is 0.58 (I was late to playing standalone) when Myshkino & NWAF was very active. Hackers and swimmers were pretty bad then though, but otherwise very fun patch.

One thing I've always wondered is: why doesn't DayZ have a singleplayer editor? It'd help out so much by pin pointing bugs and making sure that certain things are working.

The editor wouldn't even have to be all that good, we would just need would be some sort of spawn menu. Anything barebones would work wonders.

So what I'm really asking is, why not have an editor when it would help out development a fairly good amount?

If not, you HAVE to watch his latest video. His interactions are incredibly satisfying, and he is also now a father! So if you're a DayZ fan, head on down and check out Tope's channel. There is an incredible amount of great content. He is friendly to people who are friendly and often dishes out justice in the most epic ways. Sometimes he gets the short end of the stick but rather than whining or complaining he usually laughs at himself. Absolutely top notch stuff, check him out if you haven't.

Edit: Also I should say his mechanics and understanding of DayZ are bar none. His movements are amazing. He psyches people out and is great at predicting other players behaviour. Easy to overlook this kind of stuff but extremely hard to master it.

Tope went full time with Twitch/YouTube last September. Everyone should really check out his stuff and sub/follow if you like his content.

To the guys who just spent 10 minutes chasing me on the DayZ Underground US server..

I don't know what you really wanted. I was minding my own business, picking apples, when I heard you shoot.

I didn't hear the sound of a bullet whizzing buy, just the report of the gun itself. I didn't want to wait for the second shot to find its target, so I ran.

When I noticed you behind me, chasing, the fear set in. These sick fucks want me dead, for literally no reason other than that they enjoy it. I clearly didn't have any good loot.

So I ran. I hoped that either I'd throw you off somehow or I'd run so long that you would give up.

Neither happened, because you got within chatting distance. You said to stop running, that you didn't want to kill me. I asked you why you were chasing me then, and you said nothing.

Your friend used his satanic voice to say, "run mother fucker run." Needless to say, that spooked me a bit.

You said you just wanted my army helmet. I didn't have a problem with that.

When I hit TAB to drop the helmet as I was running, my game froze, and crashed. I didn't combat log, like you probably think.

I immediately reopened Day Z and logged back into the server, only to find that I was forced to spawn fresh. My previous character nowhere to be found.

I don't know what happened to my body. Maybe I dropped dead in front of you, with no apparent rhyme or reason. In that case, I hope you enjoyed what little loot I had, as well as my helmet.

I'll never know if you actually wanted to kill me or not, but I guess it doesn't matter now.

Judging distance?

I'm having trouble judging distances. Anyone got any videos that could help, or some obvious examples in game that I could relate to, such as something on the airfield...?

Just my luck

I was in Vybor, with not much gear; an SKS with 3 rounds and a repeater with 15. I was looting one of the barracks with the double doors, when I heard players outside.

Now I wasn't very geared, and I was in a military location, so killed one as he ran in. I took his M4A1 with 60 rounds and shut the door to stop zombies coming in. I set up to the left of the door behind it, and heard multiple shots as his teammate killed the zombies swarming him. Eventually he opened the door, waited a bit, and walked in, where I killed him too.

Both were super geared; plenty of rounds for SKS and M4, good backpacks, pistols, the lot.

Before I get a chance to loot...

No message from server in 8 seconds...

At least I got an full M4 :)

TLDR: Killed two fully geared guys with my little gear, only to have server restart seconds after, and their bodies and loot despawn.

Hey guys, I would like to buy DayZ, but I am scared to be disappointed... I am simple survival games fan and I am coming from Miscreated. I enjoyed the idea and the game very much, but player base of that game is very small. So what do you think? Should I get DayZ and is it worth it?
