Stanislaw is the best IGL in CS history

I mean, it's obvious isn't it? How many other IGL's managed to kill two teams with one move. It's crazy.

Seems a bit much that they made a logo just for Overwatch?

Posted: 31 Mar 2017 11:35 PM PDT

I know that catching cheaters is fun and all but why do they need to make all these Pokemon characters and it's own logo just for a small part of CS:GO?

Why are they focusing on making branding for Overwatch but not fixing things that are wrong with the game? Like how Cloud 9 always loses. It's something wrong with the game not Cloud 9.

Dispelling some myths about the JoshRT ESEA situation

Posted: 01 Apr 2017 08:24 AM PDT

I posted this in the comment section of the other thread, but it most likely won't be noticed as it's too far down.

A lot of people seem to believe that JoshRT simply grinded out way more pugs than the rest & got to 5th place by playing more than the others and "abusing" the system. Josh on the other hand claims that he adds something outside of fragging power to games. In his own words:

I was trying to get better and I'm not a man with mistakes and flaws in his game. I always tried to play the game proper, always communicated, always tried to promote some teamplay, always bought the nades and volunteered to do the strat, was never confrontational, and basically tried to be a really good teammate (since IGL and being mad fragger isn't exactly my forte).

In other words, he's basically the opposite of the NA attitude, aka: an IGL that doesn't mind setting others up to shine in order to win the game in an environnement where stats mean everything to every player in NA.

So I did a little bit of quick math and I went over the Rank S games that JoshRT had played in March. I compared these to 2 other players, Swag & Stewie2k.

Both Swag & Stewie are seen as some of the best players that NA has to offer. Swag doesn't play competitive, so by definition he's a guy that would pug a lot. Stewie plays on Cloud9 so obviously he'd have less time to play rank s.

Swag happened to have the exact same points as JoshRT did (160), which is why I chose him. Stewie ended third with 88 more points (248 in total).

  • JoshRT's record in March: 50W, 48L; winrate of 51% over 98 games played.
  • Swag's record in March: 54W, 52L; winrate of 50.9% over 106 games played.
  • Stewie2k record in March: 66W, 47L; winrate of 58,4% over 113 games played.

Now as I said in the original comment, I didn't really bother to doublecheck my calculations, but I'm fairly sure I didn't make any mistakes (if somebody else wants to doublecheck and I made a mistkae, I'll gladly edit this post. Note that you can't add the bugged games from when ESEA was having server issues).

My findings make some things pretty clear though.

  1. In no way did JoshRT "abuse the system" by grinding out way more games than the others. He had less games than both Swag & Stewie.
  2. JoshRT has a winrate that is HIGHER than Swag's, who is seen as one of NA's best players.
  3. JoshRT has a winrate that is 7% lower than Stewie2k, who is also one of the best players in NA & ended 88 points above him. That is a more than 50% increase from his final result while only winning 7% more games.

If JoshRT wasn't good enough, his teams on average would be inferior to the opposite team and he would either need to get really lucky for an entire month to get to 5th place with a higher winrate than people like Swag.
