The Legend of Zelda - 11 days left! 11 Zelda games remain! Let's discuss: Oracle of Ages

11 days left! 11 Zelda games remain! Let's discuss: Oracle of Ages

The other game developed by Capcom for the Gameboy Color was set on land of Labrynna. Again, the gameplay had similar mechanics to Link's Awakening, but it featured a dinamic world where certain choices made by the player on the adventure would affect an outcome later on, making for various possible scenarios in a single play-through. Among these are the animal companions that will accompany Link on his adventure, and the growth Bipin and Blossom's Son.

In this thread we discuss all the previous Zelda games, one per day until we finally get to explore the world of Breath of the Wild.

5 simple questions about each game!

  • 1. Your favorite aspect of the game? (Replay value, music, gameplay, characters, the world)

  • 2. Favorite Dungeon.

  • 3. That one song in the game everyone should listen to.

  • 4. The quote, moment or cutscene that stuck in your head.

  • 5. Why should anyone play this game?

Let's remember the sunrise of Labrynna. Let's discuss The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (2001)

Previous discussions: Oracle of Seasons / Ocarina of Time / Link's Awakening / A Link to the Past / The Adventure of Link / The Legend of Zelda

If you are worried about not getting a darker/realistic themed Zelda game if they reuse BotWs engine, remember these two games used the same engine as well

The end of OoT

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 10:30 AM PST

I just finished playing through OoT again, and it just kinda hit me how strange the end encounter is.

When you meet Ganondorf at the top of his tower, he's just playing his organ. Like that's just what he does. Like, I'm the evil king of the world and I have nothing better to do, while you're fighting your way through my castle, than to sit here and play creepy music on my organ, while Zelda hovers over me trapped in her crystal thing. It just strikes me as an odd thing for him to be doing.

I realized something about the Gerudo

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 03:46 AM PST

"Gerudo" is just a direct romanization of the Japanese spelling (ゲルド). However, due to the way Japanese works, this could also be translated as "geld" or "geldo", which was likely the original intention-- considering that there were certain enemies from previous games named "Geldmen" and the like.

Wiktionary:

Verb geld (third-person singular simple present gelds, present participle gelding, simple past and past participle gelded or gelt)

(transitive) To castrate a male (usually an animal).

Now think about how the entire Gerudo race is female except for a single male born every 100 years...

Today is a butt.

So I had been saving up for BotW (on WiiU, can't get too crazy) for the last month or so, everything is going great yeah? Well today, I had to bring my car in for my annual inspection. I'm thinking I'm gonna be in and out in a flash. Worst case scenario, they might ask about my tire pressure warning, no big deal either way.

Well!

Guess who has two rotted control arms and bad ball joints? This guy! Guess who is now throwing 500 dollars down the drain to get it fixed? This guy!

So BotW might not be coming for a little bit for me. Which is ok, I'd rather be smart and buy it when I'm comfortable, but man, is it upsetting still. Thanks for reading this rant though, I'm looking forward to reading everyone's game day posts!

I did not come up with the design, I take no credit for that. I usually do Overwatch or Pokémon style projects but decided to do something different this week and I'm really happy with the results; it was suggested I share it with you guys!

Anybody else excited for no motion controls?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 01:25 PM PST

I'm so ready for a main series Zelda game without silly Wii remotes. Twilight princess wasn't too bad, but Skyward Sword was a nightmare for me. I'm wondering if people had the same troubles as me with Wii motion plus. I have the physical add on for a regular Wii remote. Did people with Wii motion plus built into their remote have a different experience? I couldn't get jabs to work half the time and many slashes would be in the wrong direction. Let me know what it was like for you guys!

Do you think the final version of BOTW will have a more stable frame rate, compared to the demos we have seen.
