From Sombra's Origin video a link between Numbani, a Spider mech, and Doomfist.

Efi Oldadele is a kid from Numbani talented in working with robotics and artificial intelligence. She is quoted saying "I want to create things that make our lives better. And someday, my dream is to build something that can keep us safe, like the new OR15s! I think that would be great."

I think it's safe to say that this translates into a Robot that keeps people safe, like a Tank.

What is everyone's thoughts on this? If anyone has any strong supporting or opposing evidence I'll be sure to add it into the post when I can.

As pointed out by /u/Critticalt in his post here, Blizzard have a booth at PAX East, despite not being on the events schedule.

PAX East is on the weekend starting Friday, March 10th and ending Sunday, March 12th. If Blizzard follows suit with what they've done before, they're going to release an animated short or lore/gameplay videos on the Friday, and then allow people at PAX to play the new hero early at the booth. They're then probably going to use the Monday to get the hero ready, and drop them on the PTR on Tuesday, considering it's usually the patch day.

Not only that, but the new content order seems to behave like this: new content once a month. So far, we've gotten content in this order:

  • June: Competitive Play

  • July: Ana (July 19th)

  • August: Summer Games

  • September: Eichenwalde

  • October: Junkenstein's Revenge

  • November: Sombra and the Arcade (November 8th)

  • December: Winter Wonderland

  • January: Oasis and Year of the Rooster

  • February: Server Browser

Thanks to /u/Nobbs89 in his post here.

Not only is has there been 3 months worth of content between Ana and Sombra (4 months of actual time), the 3 months are almost over, so we can expect to get a new hero within March. This, along with how timely PAX is, means we're probably going to be able to play the hero on Tuesday, 14th of March.

TL;DR: Probably getting the new hero the Tuesday after PAX East, based on previous release history.

BIG EDIT I MIGHT BE WRONG.

Edit 2: This gained more traction than I thought it would. Thanks. Since Efi's announcement, I've been thinking. The date I've specified is probably still correct, except it'll be the next heros release to the live servers, not PTR.

Blizzard seems to wait a week after hinting at new heroes to actually release them to the PTR, and then normally new content takes around two weeks to come off the PTR and hit the live servers. A week from now is the 28th, when the new season starts, and two weeks from then on is March 14th.

We'll see.
