This is an opportunity for the more experienced HotS players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. Let's bring the "gg ez" fix from Overwatch to Heroes Posted: 09 Feb 2017 11:32 AM PST A few months ago, the Overwatch team added a fun little feature to their game that caused anyone typing "gg ez" in the chat to instead write one of several hilarious responses. Some examples: "Well played. I salute you all." "For glory and honor! Huzzah comrades!" "I'm wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you all for playing with me." "It's past my bedtime. Please don't tell my mommy." "Gee whiz! That was fun. Good playing!" "I feel very, very small... please hold me..." This is easily one of the funniest things about that game, and it cuts down on some toxicity at the same time. I figure, why not do it here? I'd suggest substituting the ever popular and trollish phrases "bg" "no" or "nope" at the end of a match (in response to the generally accepted "gg") with the above phrases. There's no need for such a lack of sportsmanship, and it makes people nervous to write gg at the end of a match they lose. ... which is ridiculous. If you can't write gg after losing a match, you aren't a good sport. It's that simple. This was a good fix for Overwatch, and it'd be a good fix here. Let's bring it in! EDIT: I seriously don't understand the downvotes. How does this "not contribute to any discussion"? EDIT 2: ... I'll say this again, because many, many people are posting before reading. The phrase "gg ez" is NOT the point of this post. I'm discussing the system used by Overwatch, which I'm calling the "gg ez fix." Nobody says "gg ez" in Heroes ... obviously. Appreciate how Heroes of the Storm is so different from other MOBA Posted: 09 Feb 2017 11:37 AM PST I felt burned out on Hots recently and wanted to try other MOBA to see if the grass really is greener on the other side. Gave League of Legends a try for like a week, and my thoughts on it is as follows. That game is so not balanced, there is no rhyme or reason to anything, it is just pure chaos of the worst kind.
And many more struggles that Hots has completely done away with. We all complain about the short comings of Heroes, because we want to see it improved and better than ever. But for real, this game is a gem compared to it's counterparts. Something about Garden Terrors that bothers me Posted: 09 Feb 2017 07:00 PM PST There is nothing more anticlimactic and unsatisfying as a Garden Terror than attacking a minion, killing it and all the others around it... and no sound plays. It's like, the terror is wiping them off the ground with a kleenex. It feels empty! Compare to the Punisher OHKOing minions with that fast moving strike with the satisfying thump. Currently you can make all the AI the same hero and when you enter the loading screen to enter the game they are all the same hero but once you have entered the game they are all different. Its lame! Posted: 09 Feb 2017 10:42 AM PST Hey, Murky main here to bring you some Murloc Math. First, let's get some basics out of the way. Murky got a health buff! Yay! Going from base 635 to 761, or from 1390 to 1667 at level 20. That's about 20% more. Most notably this allows you to survive a Varian stun charge combo, but not a Valeera combo due to the buffs she gets in the same patch. What gets interesting is that Murky also gets two health buffs with Egg Shell and Big Tuna Kahuna, each of them doubling his available health pool. At level 20, this means you'll have 3334 for the first doubling, which gives you roughly the health pool of a non-tank (Assassin 3574, Support 3705, Specialist 3507). After the second doubling, you'll have a whopping 6668 HP, 27% above the average tank at 5256, but short of a fully stacked Diablo at 7873, Avatar Muradin at 8076, or Cho'Gall at 8509. Also interesting to note is that instead of Egg Shell, Rejuvenating Bubble can be chosen at level 13, which increases his health pool by 50% through the healing (and arguably more due to the ability to dodge damage through invulnerability). This gives him an effective hit point total of 2500 or 5001 with Big Tuna Kahuna. In summary:
One area where Murky received a (nearly) strict nerf that isn't immediately apparent is with Living the Dream. As you can see from the chart below: New Living The Dream does less damage than old Living The Dream in nearly all situations, except for a few brief moments between 40 and 45 seconds after his last respawn. Next, let's examine the infamous Octo-Puffer combo. A Murky doing 3 Autoattacks, 2 Slimes, and Octograb with the talents Living The Dream, Slime Advantage, Wrath of Cod, Slimy Pufferfish, and And a Shark Too! Will do 5211 damage, enough to delete nearly any hero in the game. Substituting Rewind actually gives us a similar amount of damage with 5277, though it is considerably more if we count early deaths negating a lot of AaST! damage. New Murky is in a much worse place. The combination of talents that yields the most damage is Tufferfish and Fish Oil, but caps out at 3750 damage with And a Shark Too. Even if we substitute Fish Oil for the new Wrath of Cod hitting a Cho'Gall, we still cap out at a measly 4600 damage. So, perhaps for the best, the old one-shot Murky dream is dead. However, not all hope is lost! Let's examine Murky's new AA+Slime damage. Old Murky does 450 DPS with Autoattacks with Slime Advantage and using Slime on cooldown. Bump that up to 470 with a fully stacked Living the Dream. With new Murky, if we spec into full AA and Slime talents Slime Time (4), Time to Krill (7), and Toxic Buildup (16) we do a rockin' 630 DPS! However, that's with the Big Tuna Kahuna talent chosen. If we feel ballsy and want to grab Making Inky, that bumps the DPS to an astronomical 780! So there you have it, fascinating stuff Murloc Math. But tying his move speed to bushes doesn't seem very usable, at least in his current state. Anyone using those talents to good effect? Which hero would you delete from the game if you could, and why? Their comment really got me thinking about it, and I would probably take out Uther right now. Mind you, I main support, but my reasoning would be by taking him out (I so rarely play him) Blizz may make another support. But maybe it's better to go with the devil you know. However I just returned to HotS because the many different maps and the extremely uniqe heroes makes for an amazing game. So far I have had a ton of fun, but I have one big question. Why was Zagara nerfed so much? according to tierlist http://www.tentonhammer.com/articles/heroes-of-the-storm-tier-list she is a the buttom second only to Murky who just got changed. When I played two years ago she was a very powerful and hero, but I also liked her old talents better. Their might very well be a very good reason for this extreme nerf that I don't know about, so I want to ask the community what reason Blizzard gave for the hard nerf and how the community and particular zagara mains feels about the new Zagara. Since the last patch however, the one that changed Misha's controls (for better or worse, this isn't the point of this post), she once again loses her target when they walk into a bush. What happened to everyone playing this game? Posted: 09 Feb 2017 11:34 AM PST I have to say, normally I let this stuff roll off my back, but it's becoming more and more difficult. So much so, that I felt compelled to post about it. I've been eager to get myself into HL for such a long time but was a little too nervous to. Last week I said "F it" and just went for it. I feel like I'm at a level of play that won't end up with me making a complete fool of myself (I hope). At first I was having a blast, but it didn't take long at all to get stuck playing match after match with whom could possibly be some of the most wretched humans I've ever encountered. I've been pretty lucky to have not been the victim of any of their fouled mothery, but I have no doubt my time is coming. I remember when HotS was in its infancy and the community was fantastic. Really supportive players that would help you out or guide teams that looked like they were not 100% sure how to play that map / character / etc. Just happy people wanting to play a fun game. The last three or four games I played were just awful (and many other before that). Total blow outs. But what really sucked about it is that in each of those games there was at least one "child" who just bitched and bitched the whole time. "[NAME] is shit!" "haha! [NAME] is the worst!" "just let them win and get this over with!" "you're an idiot!"... you get the idea. Sometimes it doesn't even get past the draft without of the crazies starting their crazy. In most cases it ended up that at least one of them would quit mid-game. PS - you get penalized for bailing on a game so why not just be a team player and finish it out? I'm going to assume that the toxic players don't play on "real" team sports. If I ever quit a hockey game because I wasn't happy with how my team was playing that day, I'm pretty sure that would be the last game I played with my team. What I don't get is this - if you're in a situation that you have time to type something out, why not be a leader, or just a good person, and guide the player/team instead of bitching? I find myself more often communicating to my team to stop acting like children and be nice instead of comm. useful info for the game. When did this community turn this sour? Can we not forget that this is a game? Games are meant to be fun, not a cause of severe anxiety. If you play and constantly get angry at others, then it's probably best you play some other game that won't give you an ulcer. It's really not healthy what some of you guys are doing to yourselves and others. In the meantime, I'm going to keep playing and keep trying to keep the peace. I just hope other can follow suit. Can we have a "Respawn" button in Sandbox Mode? Posted: 09 Feb 2017 12:57 AM PST Sandbox mode is a great tool to try things out in, especially in a team. But it's annoying that when you die, there is no cheat to respawn. You can do things like speed up the game or set the levels again, which causes everyone to respawn back at base but those are workarounds.
