Halo Wars 2: Official Launch Trailer

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 09:05 AM PST

I'm still mad at the "180" 343i pulled on the Halo universe.

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 03:12 PM PST

Hey, remember when Jul 'Mdama was an interesting new antagonist in the Halo Universe, and then Halsey survived an assassination attempt and decided to join him and take on the UNSC?

Remember how hyped everyone was for that?

Remember when we believed Chief had gone rogue to find / help Halsey in hopes of saving Cortana?

And then remember when Jul 'Mdama got deleted in the first 15 seconds of Halo 5 and Halsey was like "Oh thank you UNSC for saving me! Lets go kill Cortana XD"

Halo was going in such a cool and exciting new direction at the end of Halo 4 / Spartan Ops... I will never understand what convinced them to retcon Halsey's anti-UNSC motivations and turn Cortana into the enemy.

Should've left her dead. She could have been the downfall of humanity simply by leaving Chief with his inner demons. Chief could have truly gone rogue (you know, like how you advertised it?) in order to find Halsey and trade his duty to the UNSC/mankind in hopes to bring his love back to "life".

But no... no... we got something so dull instead....

Sorry for the rant... I just can't believe they threw all that work away. Halo 4 was the end of the Halo universe IMO. We're entering the "StarWars prequel" era of Halo.

The newer Gorilla-man Space Vikings are cool I guess, but Halo 2 era Brutes are my favorite rendition by far.

One thing I hope 343i do over the development of Halo 6

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 11:58 AM PST

(Don't worry, this isn't a rant or an angry "HRRRNNNG 343 do dis do dat!" post - not in the slightest)

As someone who's studying Game development, seeing what it's like to create a project as big as Halo 5 is just amazing (as I'm sure you'll all agree).

I absolutely loved watching "The Sprint" and "Remaking the Legend" and I really hope that they do this in the nearby future. It was so intriguing hearing everyone's views at 343 over the course of Halo 5's development. Also seeing how the idea went from Beta to Gold was just stunning. Even with the story being kinda lacklustre (imo), it was still really cool to see everyone's views on the project, what went right, what went wrong.

Of course, I understand some parts of it had to stay secret to avoid spoilers and company rules. But even with the content they did show us, it provided a unique and detailed look into the daily lives of the people at 343.

TL;DR - The Sprint was awesome, please give us more content like that (if a all possible). <3

Josh Menke Matchmaking Feedback Update - Feb 6th

Why do I rarely get matches on Noctus, Darkstar, or Sanctum?

I don't mind the other three maps, but it seems like 90% of the time it's one of the maps that shipped with the game.

The Locke/Osiris hate is ridiculous

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 09:36 PM PST

Decided to post this after I realized that there isn't a single place to discuss Halo online without someone chortling about how Locke and Osiris are the worst characters in the entire Halo series or something. And I'll start out by saying that they aren't great characters by any stretch, that they have lots of room for improvement, and that I disliked Locke taking up 80% of H5G just as much as everyone else.

But seriously, what the fuck is it about them that drives everyone up a wall so much? If we assume that people have actual reasons for hating them (and aren't just mad that they took focus away from God Chief), what would those reasons be exactly? Cuz from everything I've seen, it always comes down to "THEY HAVE BORING PERSONALITIES/BACKGROUNDS/NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!". And I won't even say that's untrue, but seriously, that's the main complaint coming from fans of a series with the Master fucking Chief as the main character? You know, the guy who was basically a mildly snarky walking gun for the whole series besides Halo 4 and the books? I can't fathom how anyone who presumably played through the first three games with Chief can say Locke is so outrageously awful when there's hardly any measurable difference between them. Same thing goes for Blue Team, what about Sniper Girl, Fast Girl, and Knife Guy is just so cool and deep compared to Linguist Girl, Engineer Girl, and Nathan Fillion being Nathan Fillion? And don't even get me started on Red Team from Halo Wars, as just one example of this, who barely count as characters. Yet people here hyperventilate at the thought of them being killed off while gleefully hoping for Osiris getting Jul-d in Halo 6.

Again, I'm not saying Osiris are great either, they're mostly just a middle of the road video game helper squad to me. But I don't see why they can't even be improved like some of those other characters were, and the omnipresent hate for them gets on my nerves when I've yet to see any reason to think it's anything but an enormous double standard and/or Member Berry-esque fan worship of the stuff that came earlier in the series.
