Monday Megathread! Ask questions and share knowledge; newcomer questions encouraged!

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 06:32 PM PST

Welcome to the latest Monday Megathread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced LoL players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully someone can answer them!

For me, this is the best animation ever made by Riot.

What absurdities did oldschool players have to put up with that newer players don't?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 03:51 AM PST

I was just queuing up and remembered there was a time back years ago where ignite would work on anything including creeps and neutral monsters. The absolute horror of losing a 1v1 due to accidentally igniting a creep over the enemy champ was such a shitfest.

Anyone remember anything else like this at all?

LCS WEEK 2 FUNNY/FAIL MOMENTS - 2017 Spring Split by Nebu

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 06:00 AM PST

Everyone complaining about stale LCS meta.

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 03:49 AM PST

LCS metas will ALWAYS be stale. It's a job to them. They're going to play what is strongest at the time, because that increases their chances of winning. Winning means more tournaments, more tournaments mean more money, more money means more money. Yes, they want people to watch the LCS. Yes, they want to entertain fans. Then again, at the end of the day winning is more important than making sure you get to see more than 4 champions locked into a role regularly.

TLDR: PROS play to win, not entertain you.

What were your stupid LoL mistakes when you first started playing?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 07:10 AM PST

My first champ was Vlad, and I didn't know the difference between AD and AP, so I just assumed it would be a good idea to build lifesteal on him because he was a vampire. I went 15/1/3 in my first game against an Akali...

After seeing some of the great BO3s we have had in EU so far, i can only laugh at the BO2 advocates from last year.

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 07:40 AM PST

I legit remember when some people used to defend BO2s and talk about how flawed BO3s where as you could win one game in a series and not get any points for doing so because you lost the other 2 and how we should keep BO2 because it was a much more valid way of ranking teams over the course of the season.

Think how shit and boring a lot of the games would of been this year if all the really close and intense 3 game series we have had were just lousy draws that were left undecided.

[S7] competitive Pick/Ban% amateur infography (30-01)

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 08:03 AM PST

Image : http://i.imgur.com/IoTSJFg.jpg

Following the recent threads on the pick diversity in competitive, I couldn't find this kind of representation, so I did it myself with my INSANE paint.net skills. Figured I could share it.

The cut is 5% minimum of P/B% which is about 7 games.

It's mostly an overall view on the importance of each champion in each role, and not 100% accurate on some littles things (did not want icons to overlap, only used champions in their main lane because ban% isn't linked to a lane unlike the pick%, i.e. Malzahar P/B is very high but it's irrelevant to place him high in midlane).

Who is the second best League of Legends player of all time?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 08:16 AM PST

We all know that Faker is the best ever player. But who is considered to be the second best player of all time? Is it Mata, Dandy, Pawn, Deft, Bang, Dade, Rookie? Maybe someone else?

I started watching professional LoL in the middle of summer 2015 so I dont have much knowledge about players who were in their prime before that, but I have heard about WeiXao, Froggen, Xpeke and other old school players who were beasts before. But I haven't seen them in their prime so I cant comment on that.

Which champion would you least like to fight irl?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:42 AM PST

For me it would probably be Kha'Zix as I'm always isolated so it wouldn't really be a fair fight
