Drops & Pick'Em Trophies Post-Major Discussion CS:GO Daily Report #

Drops & Pick'Em Trophies Post-Major Discussion

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 02:18 PM PST

As the major comes to an end, all eyes are now on drops (if you got one), and Pick 'Em trophies.

Regarding drops, millions of people watch the game, if you did not get a drop then I am afraid you were unlucky as the chances of getting drops are pretty less :( . If you did get a drop or multiple drops congratulations! :)

Trophies are rolled in waves. As this coming week progresses each one of you will get your well deserved trophies. It may happen that you get your trophy early, or your friend gets it first. You may not get it for many days. Have patience. You will eventually get it!

Head over to /r/CSEventVODs if you missed any games.

This music is very addicting. I would honestly buy it and listen to it and never get tired of it. Please add it to CSGO as a music kit.

Should next major go back to 'stage-by-stage' Pick'em?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 04:25 AM PST

Do you guys prefer how the Atlanta major was set up on the pick'em, where the quarter, semis, and the final all had to be picked before the quarter finals had started? Or would you rather valve went back to the original stage-by-stage set up where you get to choose your picks each day?

Eleague Was Incredible

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 07:53 PM PST

This is going to be in a few subsections so whichever you care to read about just look towards that if interested. I will mainly be talking about my personal experiences throughout the trip and my personal thoughts, but also my thoughts on the overall matches which will be labeled appropriately if i actually write about them i might get to it in an edit if people care to know my thoughts on it if not that completely fine :D .

Introduction

This is the first ever LAN event I've attended, professional as well as normal LAN and it was such a different expedience than expected. From watching the majors online I thoroughly enjoyed them even when my teams lost because I love watching high level CS which led me to be able to pick up tickets about a month or two before the actual event took place. I was lucky enough to be able to attend Saturday and Sunday because I had to attend school on Friday which followed with a 4 hour drive from where I live, Tennessee, down to Atlanta. I arrived a tad earlier than expected but was to exhausted to go down to the venue so I watched the VP vs North match at the hotel which definitely set the tone for what was going to occur Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's experiences

Initially Arriving------------------------------------------------------------The first day was very eventful, I did the classic "fan" thing which was to bring a mousepad as well as my old mouse to get signed. Packed up my string bag and headed out and once my dad and I got the the FOX theater we realized we had left the tickets at the hotel (which in our case was a 30 min drive) and panicked. We ended up going to a Hamilton nearby and printing out the email I had forwarded him but when we gave them the tickets I must have forwarded him the same ticket twice which was very funny and he had to go the the on call which were able to pull the tickets back up for him. Inside the Theater--------------------------------------------------------- I ended up being seated in the balcony towards the right if you are facing towards the stage which was a very good seat to watch from. I watched the Faze vs SK match up and once that concluded I continued on to the signing room which also was right next to the Pin Pick up. I got my pins and began to wait in line. I actually met up with one of my teammates that so that was very interesting meeting him in person. I opened my pins and ended up getting a baggage and the chroma pins. Very thrilled about that I bought another pin for 20$ but only got a guardian 2. My teammate and I waited in line as Faze were signing but we were too far back to get them, but luckily VP came out and did signings as well, and initially I really wanted to S1mple to sign my mouse but I made a split second choice to have Pasha sign it which i'm going to put in a custom display case that Ill link to once i've made it. I got the rest of VP to sign my mousepad which also is going to go into a frame. After that I watched the remainder or the Fnatic vs Astralis matchup and I went back down to the signing room because I heard Astralis were doing signings as well but many other must have as well because again I was at the back of the line. I didn't want to miss out on the SK vs VP semi-final because i knew it was going to be a close game, so as I was about to leave i notice a dozen or so people around someone who turned out to be Elige from liquid. Quick detour shout out to Elige even though he was eliminated he kept fans happy and took pictures and signed many things. I ended up getting him to sign my mousepad and a picture with him. After that I bought more pins and I was very lucky and opened up an Overpass, Office, and Phoenix. I was talking with my teammate about how I really wanted a cobble because that was my fav. one and this kid aprox. 13-14 nearby shows that he indeed had a cobble. I asked him what he wanted and at first he said my chroma which i declined because I was well aware it was a higher value but he followed by asking for my phoenix for it which i gladly accepted. Happy with the pins I had I watched the VP vs SK game and cheered on VP throughout the whole match because I originally wanted Navi to win but they were out so had to find a new team :D. They ended up winning and my dad and I went to eat at Smash Burger and it was really interesting how much of the basics my dad was able to pick up regarding the game. I could be wrong but i believe the casters do help newer viewers greatly as they explain some of the more obvious rounds out which seems redundant to experienced viewers. Overall the atmosphere of the event of one that I actually haven't experienced before. This being that I've been to many actual sports that I never got the hyper around, i love playing them i just can't stand to watch it so it was nice being surrounded by people who shared the common interest.

Sunday's Experiences

I got inside at about 8:45 and had two main plays for that day which were to trade my baggage pin for a phoenix which I already had a guy from a Discord made for the major, and the use the 1v1 Computer both of which I accomplished. I waited in line for the 1v1 which was on the classic aim map and you played to 8 points and the next person played. Personally I don't have my videos settings know by heart so I just left it at what it was at and set my sens which is 400 dpi with 1.1 in-game. The mouse, which everyone agreed upon, was very poor in my biased opinion. One reason that it is biased it I'm right handed and it was am ambidextrous mouse so it was very difficult to grip, also another bias is because I'm used to resting my elbows on my chair and using my arm to aim but the chair had none of that so it was very awkward to play. Nonetheless i thoroughly enjoyed myself on the 1v1 disregarding these minor complaints it was an extremely cool feature to have computers here at the venue. It took a couple rounds to get into but i ended up winning my game 8-7 and the guy i played against was pretty cool we shook hands and said good game. After this i moved onto my seats which were extremely close to the casters on the left side of the theater this time rather than the right of the previous day. The introduction was beyond what I had ever expected with the white backdrop and the projection. It was honestly mind boggling that i was able to be apart of this. The first map was incredible to watch. The second just as much so even tho VP were unable to pull out the victory on it. Following the second map i went to the restroom which was pretty cool as surprising as that sounds because Anders cut like 25 people and he was so polite about it. On my way back to my seat i noticed elige was doing more pictures and signings which once again mad props to him was really cool of him. Since i had to walk by the VIP section to get to my seat i ended up seeing someone that looked just like Faze Hoppin, who i've been a huge fan of for quite a few months now who i mainly discovered through Smitt7y and ClickyCrisp. I tapped him on the shoulder and of course asked if he indeed was Hoppin and he was like haha ya, which was so cool i asked him if i could take a picture with him because i didn't have a sharpie for him to sign my mousepad. I thanked him for letting me take the picture with him and let him know how much i enjoyed his content which looking back im very glad i did because later on it turned out he was sitting next to elige who was "hogging" all the attention (jk i love them both) but whether or not he remembers me at all or it impacted him whatsoever im very thankful for how kind and overall chill he was. The third map roles around and Astralis won an insane tec-9 rush outside which VP should have taken aim duels at further distances in my opinion but perhaps they thought it was a buy round we will never know. Astralis ends up winning the map and it was an incredible moment even tho neither team i had supported through the tournament had come out it was still a very special moment because the entire crowd Vp or astralis fans were on their feet cheering on the Major champions and i hope desperately i will be able to attend many more events to come in the future.

Favorite Chant,

During the second map when we the crowd were chanting VP and Astralis back to back on repeat was so incredible because you could feel the intensity of the crowd but also during the middle of the game when the crowd was nearly silent because how incredible the game actually was we were all focused in.

Best Major Finals In a long while???

I can't speak for others but the previous two major finals have been quite lackluster in performance because LG now SK stomped Navi as well as Liquid and i felt like it was a terrible ending in objection to the semis previous to those matches which i found more enjoyable. VP vs Astralis was just one of the greatest displays of high level CS that ive witnessed in quite a while. All three maps played out to the very end and comebacks coming from bother sides and it went down to the wire to the very end which was incredible. This could be slightly biased from the fact that its my first LAN event but nonetheless i loved every moment of it and love this community,
