Help me kill the dagger girl!

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 09:25 AM PST

Every time I pick my character, I see someone else pick the dagger girl on the other team. She is blue-colored aand super mean and while she is easy to kill early on, she kills me in like one dagger or something later on, even if I can get my team to win the game. How do I survive her knives?

I play the screamy demoness character, the boy told me that fit me best...

600 or so games in (7000 of LoL back in the day) - Seem to be getting worse the more time goes on - What do

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 02:22 AM PST

Slark and just invis heroes in general are so fucked because you need to guess where they are going to be walking through (Blue ward) or detect them around you. (gem, huge risk) Dust is only good for when they are already fighting you, which vs Slark is useless because of his also a Clinkz with orchid/medallion can kill you instantly, to name 2 examples.

Then there is jungling. I like playing enigma but the items I need only have large components (Blink, a single component of 2250... or aghanims, almost as bad...) so I feel like i stay in the jungle too long and my team loses the game because of it.

Is huskar just a complete shit hero right now

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 04:35 PM PST

Tried playing him ..Jesus . Everything counters that hero. Even magic which is what he's supposed to be good against. Skywrath mags can burst him down. Monkey king destroys him. Anti mage with little farm destroys him. Legion, Axe, AA, pa tinker necro timber invoker meepo Ursa enigma Silver edge. Can go on

Help with micromanagement

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 06:08 PM PST

I haven't ever played starcraft or anything else that requires controlling multiple units and I have no idea where to begin. I don't really understand control groups or how pro's move multiple units simultaneously in such a smooth manner. Any tips or guides or videos are much appreciated.

This Week I Learned:_________________________

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 01:04 PM PST

Every game we play we should be learning something; mechanics, tricks, spell interactions, counters, synergies, etc. In this thread share some of the info that you've picked up during the past week!

Last week's most useful tip - /u/Zaliack - 25 Points

TWIL you can lock combining diffusal blade so that you can hold onto the recipe to instantly upgrade it whenever you need to. Never thought if that until I saw a Riki wrecking us do that.

Noob Here: Please tell me it gets better...

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 08:43 AM PST

So started playing Dota 2 only a few days ago. I did the tutorial and did a couple of solo bot games and then on to co-op bot games. Watched a few purge games and guides. And finally decided to do a real unranked games. Long story short, I read multiple posts from people speculating that Dota 2's hidden mmr needs to determine if your "noob" account is a smurf or not. So the first game you play matters a lot. Well, we stomped in the first game, won by like 30-10 or something. But when I checked the lvls of the players, my side was a lot of lvl 20+ and the other team were lvl 5 and below. So really my team carried me.

So I suppose the MMR determined my account was a smurf account and placed me in much higher skill games. At this point I am playing these ridiculous games where I get matched with lvl 50 people. And they get pissed when they see that they have a noob on their team and we get trashed pretty badly. So right now my games are awful and unfun, just a crapshoot. Holy god, the mismatch is unreal. Majority of the time I'm like the low lvl 4 noob amongst a sea of lvl 30-50 players. Yes, lvl dosen't determine skill but there certainly is a difference.

I am not going to just stick to bot games forever, that's not a solution. B/c bot games are pretty boring. Here's what happens: solo bot games. Things are fine till midgame. The bot AI are pretty stupid sometimes. Enemy and my own team. They'll be bunched up perhaps waiting to push but do nothing waiting so the game drags on longer than it has to. And then co-op mode there is always a bored high mmr person who just wants to blow off some steam after coming from a ranked game and he goes ham on the bots and kills them all. The game pretty much ends midgame and I just drag along.

Here's my dota 2 buff profile: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/320142767

Do note the latest game I won in, I was carried. Had the worst K/D ratio of my team, tied in kills with the support... The guy I was in a party with sympathized with me in an earlier game and wanted to help me so partied with me.

So now what? Just suck it up, prepare myself to just lose game after game until the mmr determines that this account really isn't a smurf account? Any new players have any insight on this? All I want is balanced games where I get matched with some beginners as well. Like I just yearn for a game where everyone is level 10 or below...

Ember Spirit Tips?

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 09:43 PM PST

Whenever I play ember spirit I always feel ineffective and unable to do much. Any tips?

My most recent game https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2950613868

In this game I know I made a lot of mistakes and things, after my strong start I think I didn't find enough space to farm which eventually led to me falling off.

Questions about some offlaners

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 05:29 PM PST

This is a post of some questions about various heroes. Sorry if there is bad formatting, I'm on my phone.

-Weaver offlane, not too popular. I feel like aghs would be core on him since your usually more utility than damage dealer, am I wrong of thinking of offlane weaver like this?

-Offlane legion: after phase, should I go straight blink?

-Offlane clock, how to lane him?

  • Offlane centaur, seems like pros go hood-blink-aghs most of the time. Wouldn't you want other utility like lotus or blademail before aghs? Also need some help with playing centaur in general, not the greatest with him. Also does return aura get based on your strength or the teammates strength?

What to do if you lose your lane as a farming carry, such as Anti-mage?

What could I have done to win this game? (1.8k Ember Spirit)

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 11:04 AM PST

Yellow guys!!

I've been playing ember a lot this patch and i really enjoy it (i know, he should probably get nerfed). I played a few games today and it generally didn't go well, maybe i just had a bad day, but this game I felt like we really could have won.

Match: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2948967382

Here is what i think: In general, we really struggled to get towers down while they were dropping ours like crazy. I never played ember vs pugna and that made me make some mistakes.

The laning phase wasn't bad but it wasn't great either, I'm sure I could've killed slark and i should have more lh (working on that). Maybe I should have been more aggressive.

I tried to rotate to get a few kills, it went mostly okay except for the fight at around 10 min, I totally misjudged pugna's dmg output with his ward up, definitely learned sth from that today.

I was pretty much top net worth the entire game, but In retrospective i really regret my item-build decision. I went octarine after blink because I felt like I didn't have enough hp, then I realized I needed bkb because we couldn't get pugna's ward down and there still was no option for me to fight with that thing up. I should probably have gone blink, bkb, maelstrom or something similar.

One last question: Should i generally focus more on ganking or on getting lh with ember? Since the new build is much better early on I try to gank often, but then i struggle to get LH and networth…

Anyways, thank you to anyone who takes the time to help me out!! Really appreciate it!

Meepo's aghs in 7.00

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 12:32 PM PST

So my question is, is Meepo's Aghs still core on him? Or is it a situational item now? I know most high MMR players go for the 2 DL's and Treads build now, do they incorporate a scepter anywhere or is it better to go for stat items like ethereal or skadi now if the game goes late?

Beginner bullshit (settings, set up etc)

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 02:42 AM PST

Hi all,

I used to play LoL a lot, then I've not touched it for maybe 2 years. I wasn't anything special, just Silver. I started playing Dota yesterday and been playing around with the configuration. My settings are all okay visually, but I'm frustrated with keybindings like comfort wise. I'm left-handed dominant, so the reach of the default LoL settings is annoying for items.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone else weird and wonderful like me who could share some useful keybinds, or just people share their keybinds in general.

I'm also curious to know whether quickcast is worth it? I've looked online and there seems to be a mixed opinion rather than a unanimous decision the unanimous on LoL being that you should use it. Does it aid Dota, is it optimal for beginners?

Finally, in Purge's guide, he recommends a few heroes. Does that list still remain in today's patch?

Thanks.
