Posted: 28 Jan 2017 12:08 PM PST Who do I get them on? I used to get them all the time, then before 7.0 I was only getting them on int heroes and now with the helm I find that I just don't look at drums, but I'm sure I'm missing out. [link] [comments] |
Any tips on getting out of lower 4k games. Posted: 28 Jan 2017 01:36 PM PST I can't break out of mmr from 4000-4200. I've broken the barrier once by spamming a fotm hero, but I don't find that enjoyable nor a good representation of my skill. I've gotten from 3k to 4k on two separate accounts with an 80% winrate both times. Then as soon as I get to 4k I can't get out of it. I find most games are just not know the timings of what I am supposed to do, or having teammates take fights that they shouldn't. Or I am still in the mindset that I know how to farm the map better than other players in the game so I'll farm a lot on a hero like bristleback. Just doesn't seem to work anymore. One question I have is that if I see a large creep wave inc on top lane but I have an opportunity to gank mid should I let the farm be wasted and gank mid? That's another thing, I absolutely hate having a lane that isn't being farmed and I find myself missing out on potential opportunities cause of it. Any help is appreciate ty. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2017 03:20 AM PST Walrus kick's range got a huge buff at 7.00, from 900 to 1400. Along with its 1 sec stun and 4 sec slow, and the fact that it's bkb piercing, I feel it's a very strong tool to get one of their heroes out of the fight. And also a great pick off tool. It's a decent nuke, too. Did anyone get to try it? Do you think it's useful? [link] [comments] |
Shivas Guard or Heart of Tarrasque? Posted: 28 Jan 2017 12:24 PM PST Let's say I'm necro with treads, BM, and a pipe. That gives about 43% physical and magical damage resistance. Heart will give +1150hp. Or Shiva +15% physical damage resistance, approximately. Which will make me survive more? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2017 08:33 AM PST Recently, I've been playing a fair amount of unranked (I only play unranked right now), and have losing many of those games (winrate of less than 50%). I have been realising that many of those games have had the correct styles of heroes on the map; a safelane carry, a mid carry, an offlaner semi-carry/utility guy, roamer/jungle/4 support, and a selfless 5 support. I tend to be the guy who plays offlane or support, and I prefer to make the calls in game for smokes, ganks, teamfights, etc. However, many times my team and I will lose to pubstomp linups (for those of you who don't know what a pubstomp is, a pubstomp is when a team picks 5 carries). I question myself as a support/offlaner, thinking "We had the correct team composition, and even won some of our lanes (2/3) or broke even in the lanes; why did the midgame go so horribly?" It came to me yesterday as to why. The situation was as such: We had a support Silencer (me), Skywrath support (my wife), mid Drow (a buddy, matched up against a Sniper), Slark (who was supposed to go safelane with my wife, but went mid anyway), and an offlane LC (who I convinced NOT to jungle). I went offlane with the LC and we proceeded to get two kills. Slark was being an ass in the mid, and my wife was all alone top. LC seemed to be doing well, so I decided "Hey, let's carry Silencer here with the open lane." I then went top, and got two kills there as well. Then the midgame hit. Ok, so Slark fed 14 times by the end of the game which was partially why we lost. But there's something more here. The biggest problem was not our laning. We broke even/won everywhere except mid. It was that LC never got his Blink Dagger. He went treads>drums>blademail. And then it hit me. We literally had no initiation. We had a ton of silences, a few nice slows, LC duel, and pounce from Slark. However, Slark was squishy (and sadly, unskilled), and LC didn't have his Blink Dagger. Thus was our team composition problem. It wasn't a good team composition. We had great lockdown. Silences and slows are great. They're also great for counter initiating when their team jumped on us. But, we had no significant form of initiation, like a Slardar Blink/Crush, a Sandking Burrowstrike, a Tusk Snowball, or Centaur Stampede (all of which I play). Pounce isn't bad, and Blink-Dual isn't bad, but LC didn't build Blink. Thus, we couldn't start teamfights to assert dominance on the map, and we simply got run over. Thus is my statement: In addition to having good lanes with heroes who can do well in those lanes, several forms of initiation, counter initiation, and lockdown are neccessary to gain the advantage in a teamfight during the midgame. This can come through itemization and hero choice (eg, Lion's blink Hex). I need to learn more, so I also have a question. What other things have you (the Dota 2 community) found are important in team composition? Having initiation and lockdown is just one element. What are others that I'm missing? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2017 05:37 AM PST Would mana boots be legit on ember now, if you're getting an octarine straight after veil+blink? I tried it a couple of games and while I missed the mobility BoTs offers, the increased mana pool was pretty nice, and I ended up disassembling to make n octarine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jan 2017 03:05 PM PST Troll hasn't really seen play since he got hit by the nerfs in 6.83, the most significant one was removing the bonus damage from his Melee form which killed his laning stage. I was watching 1437/Roses and they had a Troll in his game and in passing he said "Troll takes too long to become a hero" and I think that's his main issue. His early stages are pretty weak, his mid game is good, and his late game is mediocre. I think a buff to his ranged form might be decent like him getting half the armor buff and movement speed buff on ranged or something. [link] [comments] |
How do you Play/Farm/Lane as Hard Carry now? Posted: 28 Jan 2017 05:22 AM PST Pre dota 3 (patch 7) i was very comfortable and consistent playing the hard carry role and playing it well with avg's above 600 xpm and gpm every game with any hero i picked up in the safe lane. and though i know not an enormous amount has changed for this role i feel like i am missing something huge that has changed because i feel like all my timings are off or my item choices are not efficient enough to do the job i need to do. my overall AVG's have plummeted by nearly 200 lately and i know of only 2 things for certain affecting that. that is extreme lane aggression due to shrines and the dual lanes in my bracket. and my unfamiliar-ness with the new map. ive reverted to playing heroes with innate farming tools such as Sven and luna. but playing sven has never been fun for me and luna's power seems off for me this patch due to how aggressive the enemy team plays now in my bracket and how often most of the fights break out in lane with creeps. if at all possible i would like some advice on what items are go to for increasing sustainability and farming efficiency on heroes like PA,Spec,AM,Troll,Weaver and lycan when your supports are not pulling or warding or ganking or stacking. just soaking lane taking dmg and potentially feeding. also as hard carry would it be more or less sensible to take offlane with certain carries now since the shrine is so close and more safe vision can be applied in SS and the river? im in the lower bracket so there is no such thing as solo offlane especially with 7.01. i would be contesting 2 people either way. and id rather contest someone who wants to punch creeps instead of my face beause my support gained the talent autism at lvl 2 while sitting behind my tower. Thoughts on Alche solo stack farming nowadays? Posted: 28 Jan 2017 10:13 AM PST Basically, alche was nerfed quite a bit in 7.00, his bounty rune multiplier being reduced largely, and the biggest nerf, the repositioning of camps and the camp respawn times, now being only an odd minute. Back then farming on alche used to be really easy, you just got level 5ish, walked into jungle, double stacked with acid spray, and got like a 12 minute radiance/armlet and ended the game with insane gpms early. But now with 7.00 nerfing camp stacking, this method seems slightly niche, is it continue this method, or is it better to stay in lane nowadays and pressure the enemy mid laner but lose out on a larger amount of gold, or is better to double stack camps every odd minute and return mid? Any thoughts. Sorry if this wasn't written very well, writing is not my strongest value :p [link] [comments] |
Laning vs big Nukers as Ember? Posted: 27 Jan 2017 09:13 PM PST Trying to learn Ember but i'm having a lot of trouble vs heros like tinker and zues. their nukes basically instantly remove flameguard and i find it really hard to sustain myself in lane vs them. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
