To the Mysterious Stranger that perfected my little light's Christmas:

It's Christmas eve and i have just finally finished shopping and wrapping presents for my little light, and before i even went shopping, she told me that she REALLY wanted the Fallen Walker Mega Bloks set and i set sail to search for this beast, well as it turns out; the Walker is surprisingly hard to find in stores (i went to Wallyworld) but every single other set was around. So, I ended up losing control of my money handlers and grabbed every set they had that she didn't have (the Interceptor is my favorite, i bought it for myself too, i'm a bad mom XD) but still no Walker to be seen. I was very bummed as that was the sole thing she wanted, however; a man holding the last Walker set saw me looking at the box he was holding and went up to my cart and asked, "Are you shopping for your little light too?" in which i replied yes and explained my story and to my surprise, he put the box into my cart and said "Happy Dawning Guardian" and walked off without another word or any explaination. it brought me to near tears and i searched for him before i left the store; but i could not find him :( so, whoever you are, mysterious stranger of the light; i want to thank you in this wall of text and wish you the best of all Christmas'! World knows that you have made my daughter's Christmas, and mine absolutly perfect! Happy Dawning and Happy new year everyone! Please, continue to be excelent to each other :) And maybe we will see each other in the battlegrounds of the Crucible ;D

EDIT: She begged me to let her open one gift early and i told her to choose one on her own, and she brought me the biggest present (of course) and ripped it open with no remorse and actually squealed and hugged me after seeing what she got! It was the cutest thing i have ever seen <3 she ran to the table and is now currently building her new Fallen Walker set! This has been a fantastic Christmas so far :')

Things That Should Have Grimoire Cards (But Surprisingly Don't)

Although this thread seems self-explanatory and perhaps unnecessary, for those of us who enjoy Destiny's lore and story (or arguably potential story) the Grimoire Cards are often where the details of certain characters, events, etc. are described in either little detail or great detail depending on the card.

While there are a lot enemies, characters, weapons, etc. that do get a short story or in-depth description...Some things I found are oddly absent for whatever reason.

Since it's the season of giving(and me lazily trying to tie the Holidays to this thread) I think we should give recognition to the things in Destiny that for whatever reason, don't have Grimoire Cards.

I've made a personal list (and checked it twice) of who and what doesn't have Grimoire Cards and compiled them into a list, alongside why it's odd these few don't have cards of their own.

**DISCLAIMER: In case this needed to be said, I am not calling BUNGIE or the writers they work with lazy. Oversights happen, and the Grimoire has a lot great entries that IMHO are written with a lot of love and intrique. (I still wish the Grimoire could be read in-game) This is just me puzzled as to why the things I put on the list don't have entries of their own.

Anywho, here's the list:


  • The Mutated Iron Lords - While the Mutated Iron Lords themselves are pretty self-explanatory and are frightful encounter (As well as the 3 mutated Iron Lords having cards of their own alongside the 9 with special artifacts). I find it strange they don't have cards of their own.

It could've described how SIVA preserved their bodies, the last moments and lamentations of how they were unable to fully destroy SIVA, how everything went so wrong in pursuit of a noble cause.


  • The Siege Engine - While technology not a boss in the same way as Aksis or Vosik, the Siege Engine is a key encounter in the Wrath Of the Machine. We run from it, damage it, ride it into a wall, quickly repair it before it blows us to kingdom come from the damage we did to it, run it into another wall, and then run it off the tracks and into the depths of the sea below.

It's probably one of my favorite Raid encounters in the game...but what was it exactly? A prototype or a finished product? Did the Devil Splicers plan on using it on the City's walls? If so, how did they plan to use it? After all, the Siege Engine was on rails and it would've been impossible for anything but a Ketch to move something that big into position? Was the Siege Engine the thing that took a massive chunk of the Cosmodrome at the beginning of the "Walls Come Down" story mission?


  • The Harbingers - The Harbingers are mentioned a few times in entries like The Coven , Telesto , and more. Not only that, but The Harbingers appeared in the opening TTK cinematic in which the Queen and her Coven summon them to destroy Oryx's Dreadnought and his fleet. Side Note: The Harbingers decimated the dwarf planet Ceres, and powered through several Hive ships with ease, and were only stopped when they hit the Dreadnaught...which did nothing to the moon-sized-ascendant-realm-made-capital-ship. That speaks volumes about the power of the Harbingers and The Dreadnaught itself. So what are the Harbingers, exactly? Well the Coven Grimoire Card hints at something interesting:

They were all connected in trance, communing as the ancients did. Speaking would tip their hand to the Harbinger Minds they kept here, trophies from an ageless war, and weapons in the right hands.

"So now the decision is nigh. The Harbingers, which to prepare?" Shuro was determined to see this all through. Excitement was taught to be kept at bay.

"We cannot send them all." Portia reminded.

"All but one, the oldest. It stays with us. Sedia, Kalli, Shuro, take the children, tell her they are to be planted into a dead thing to have children of their own." A plan hid behind Illyn's eyes, but Techeuns do not share their eyes with others.

"What if they are not wise enough for the Dreadnaught?"

The card's text and the Techeun's themselves refer to the Harbingers as having minds, being capable of wisdom and that they are Harbingers of differing age (With the eldest being the strongest). Yet the card also describes them as trophies won long ago and weapons if needed. So what are the Harbingers? Are they extra-dimensional lifeforms? Collected and Safeguarded powers of Awoken Techeuns and Monarchs from centuries past? Ancient technology from the Golden Age lost during the Collapse? A little bit of all of the above?

All I know is they make The Telesto work wonders...and that's just with a sample size.


  • Ecthar the Sword of Oryx - Out of all the characters or things that don't have cards describing them, Ecthar may be the most puzzling in my opinion. Echtar was important enough to featured in in the few cinematics the Taken King had Echtar appear before Oryx to inform him "Their leaders belong you.." (something none of Oryx's other officers had the pleasure of), has the title of Sword Of Oryx which would indicate a high-ranking officer akin those in the Court of Oryx, Is a key mini-boss in the Exotic Sword Quest, and is a very unique looking variant of a Hive Knight with his own signature gleaming blade to blade to boot.

So who is Echtar, and why does he not have Grimoire Card of his own? I have no idea.

Alas poor Echtar we knew ye not before we violently laid our blades into your chitonous carapace...nor do we know whom you are after.


  • Ether - Okay, this one is probably a personal choice of mine and may not even need a card...but it's definitely something I've always wondered. For those who don't know, Ether is this vital substance that is necessary to the survival of the Fallen/Eliksni. But what is it? Is it an all-in-one nutrient that was developed by the Eliksni during the Golden Age to suit their biological needs? Is it a life-sustaining wonderdrug? Why has it seemingly taken the place of their blood? (Besides being rated T for Teen). If things like Strange Coins, Glimmer, and Motes of Light get entries, why not Ether?

  • Certain Biological Materials from the Vex, Hive, and Cabal - The Hive's chiton and organic architectural materials, The black fluid that comes from the Cabal units when they die, and the milky, radiolarian fluid that is the only biological component of the Vex.


  • Any/All Exotic Armor Piece(s) - Exotic Weapons get some Grimoire love, Why not armor pieces? Many pieces of Exotic Armor look just as unique as their weapon counterparts.

...And that's the current list thus far. I know there's not a lot, but the things I chose felt like they had significance to the Game World and I thought deserved their own little entries.

Do I see BUNGIE adding entries for them? No, there are other more crucial things to work on and I wouldn't hold it against them if anything on the list got cards (it would neat if they somehow did though.)

Still, it's interesting (Atleast to me) to think about and wonder what the Grimoire entries for these things would be.

If you think I missed anything that you feel deserves it's own Grimoire Card, let me know what, who, and/or why and I'll try to add it to the list.

Recently me and my friends were doing a frame-by-frame research to measure TTK (Time-To-Kill) and some other parameters on the weapons that we thought was popular, exceptional or controversial

I know the Western Community has already done similar research before but I still want to share our results for you as an unmeddled second perspective

CHAPTER 1

NOUN INTERPRETATION


Before test records and data presentation, first I need to explain all the entries that will show in the next chapter

FRAME: how many frames has passed in real time, 1 frame means 1 picture in the record

TIME: second converted from frames, 1 frame equal approximately to 0.03333 second

BULLET: how many bullets are needed to achieve the kill, calculate effective number only

RROF: real rate of fire converted from frames, PR will record as burst and others as rounds

DAMAGE: how much damage did the bullets cause, least value is 198 as the HP of the target

FINAL BULLET: when did the final bullet fly out of the muzzle, this bullet will complete the kill

TRAVEL TIME: how long does the bullet need to hit the target, be affected by network latency


And my Time-To-Kill formula is not simply ROF x ROUNDS but:

TTK = FINAL BULLET + TRAVEL TIME = TIME

You will find the real TTK can always conform to this formula in all upcoming records


CHAPTER 2

CHAPTER 3

TTK RANKING UNDER IDEAL CONDITION


After collecting all the data, the first thing is build a TTK ranking under ideal condition for these weapons.

But before that, there is still 1 values need to be adjusted, which is the TRAVEL TIME

In the previous records we have seen 2 different TRAVEL TIME which are 0.17 and 0.27, so dose it means that the bullet from different weapon have different fly speed?

The answer is not exactly right, DESTINY do have weapons with different bullet velocity, but those weapons didn't join previous tests

And soon when I working on VEGAS, I found this error was came from the network latency

Tlaloc is the weapon that only Warlock can use, so after finishing the main shooting, at the other day we added an additional shot for Tlaloc and Thorn using my Warlock

The connection status of the second shot is worse than the first one, and all the TRAVEL TIME from the second shot are all 0.27, this fact proved my guess

So if we want to do a fair ranking, we must use a uniform TRAVEL TIME value for all weapons

CHAPTER 4

DATA MINING


Cause people won't able to making headshots all the time, so after complete the form of ideal condition, the next thing we need to do is introducing precision rate from the real situation

The first step is to create a new firing model for each weapon, in order to make the simulation closer to reality, I average calculated the precision data of well-known players from DESTINY TRACKER NETWORK, and use it as a reference

As we can see many weapon's fire model have changed after we introduced the precision value, so the next step is to figure out how long will these extra shots take by math


The new formula for most of weapons is very simple:

TTK = IDEAL TTK + ROF x EXTRA ROUNDS


But if a Pulse Rifle need to fire an additional burst, then things will become a bit more complicated:

TTK = IDEAL TTK + (ROF - 4 FRAMES) + (EXTRA BULLETS - 1) x 2 FRAMES


So the next thing we need to do, is statistics all weapon's ROF and EXTRA ROUNDS

TTK RANKING UNDER REAL CONDITION


Now we have everything needed, the final step is calculate all weapon's new TTK and arrange them from short to long

All of the above is the research we did in this month, I believe these data can explain many things that we have already familiar or still have doubts with

And beyond the TTK study, I also believe these data can be used in other themes like, using FINAL BULLET to measure if the first fallen one can get Postmortem medal

Or, you can input new values from new rules to build your new TTK ranking by yourself


CHAPTER 6

EXTRA TEST


At chapter 4 I demonstrated that different weapon which have same ROF might have different damage, the emergence of this situation is because different weapon have different RANGE

But what I want to say is: some weapon's real range is not like what you see

So how far can Saladin's Vigil kill, have a guess?

20? 25? 30? 35? 40?

And how far can The Last Word kill?

20? 25? 30? 35? 40?

Solo Oryx On Hunter ...While Enraged!

Just a video of the kill, had to cut out the massive 15 minute sitting there waiting for enrage at the start - but here's all 35 minutes of doing 1 bomb at a time on Hunter, all during Oryx's enrage. It was 50 minutes long if you include the waiting for enrage, I think there was either 2 or 3 rounds that I had to miss and get no bomb damage so I wouldn't die. Details below (it gets quite lengthy just explaining the fight / strat, just a heads up!):


Firstly, why did I kill it during enrage?

Regardless of how you approach the fight for a Hunter, you can only do one bomb at a time and that means you'll inevitably go into enrage for ~10+ rounds. I wanted to develop a strategy that was consistent during enrage, so rather than mixing it up and doing the first 5-6 rounds with the non-enrage timing, I wanted to keep it all consistent and wait until Oryx enraged. Downside being that I needed to wait 15 minutes every attempt, but it was the price of consistency and let me do other things in between attempts while waiting. It also helped me not get too demoralized wiping pre-enrage and having to adjust that, I could just do other things in between attempts and note down what I wiped to and avoid it for next time. It kept me focused and able to go on with such long attempts.

So, what does enrage do?
Enrage occurs after 15 minutes of Oryx appearing and changes the fight drastically. During enrage, the following occurs:

  • Oryx will only take 20 seconds to cast regain after he slams
  • Oryx will open his chest after the FIRST slam
  • Light-Eater Knights will spawn on Normal Mode too.

This means you need to spawn kill the Ogre as he's doing the first slam, and turn in time to stagger Oryx. While staggering Oryx, you then need to INSTANTLY detonate the bomb otherwise it'll be too slow and Oryx will close his chest due to the decreased time for his regain. If you were in a group you can think about it like this: after Oryx first slams and the runner has to jump up, by the time the runner has hit the second or third platform, it would already be too late to start detonating a blight as he would regain before it hit. And, while doing all this, you need to stagger Oryx at the same time.

It does become quite a bit to juggle, but it also does end up being very consistent due to the exact timing and nature of everything.

Why only 1 bomb at a time?
Hunter has no sort of overshield mechanic, so they're only able to survive 1 bomb at a time while sword blocking. This means you have to take it 1 bomb at a time ..16 times.

Why did you not use Golden Gun?
During enrage you won't have enough time to reliably build super every single round, so I wanted something that would be reliable every single round. You also need to have 2x Tripmine, and while you can use the gloves, the artifiact also allowed me to use Bones of Eao while still getting the double Tripmine. I found Bones invaluable for for this fight and navigating all the damage. So because I didn't want to become dependent on something that I couldn't use every round, and I wanted to keep Bones of Eao - I decided to remove it from the equation entirely.

Why did you not detonate on some rounds?
On the rounds where I didn't kill the Ogre instantly and detonate, I felt like the threat of dying from the Vessel was too great and decided to play it safe and go to the other side of the pillar to stagger instead. Had a lot of late bomb attempts ruined by the Vessel, so wanted to be as safe as possible (which of course was a hard decision to make when I only had 1 bomb left too).

Basic Strategy Overview:
While building the strategy, below the key points I made to focus on. To start with, obviously the strategy is to wait until enrage and instant-spawn kill an Ogre. For this you need 2x Tripmine and a Final Round Shotgun bullet to the head, and it'll drop the Ogre instantly. Then turn to Oryx and stagger him, while detonating the bomb. Other than that, this is what I took note of / made a habit of doing.

Step-By-Step / Thought-Process For Every Round:

  • Lure Vessel/enemies to thinking I'm on the other side of the platform (go out of line of sight on far side and no noise, aka double jump/bullets while running to Ogre spawn)
  • Make sure ToM and Shotgun both on Final Round damage
  • Focus on hitting head-shot to spawning Ogre
  • Ogre killed, detonate bomb and use pillars line of sight to hide from Ogre's/Vessel's shots
  • ToM final round to stagger Oryx at the same time
  • Instantly reload after stagger, jump up onto lower part of pillar and fire 10 bullets into Oryx chest (keeps it open long enough and makes timing 100% consistent to block)
  • Oryx doesn't fire during this period of time, high regen build will get you high enough HP to survive with blocking (anything below red bar will kill you)
  • Jump up, kill Ogre on Oryx's next slam point and corresponding LE Knight asap
  • Focus safety and be careful of early bombs phase (can kill you while killing the Ogres if bomb hits of early)
  • Extra careful of Centurion darts (died far too often to them)
  • Survive bombs phase, jump down and use line of sight to thinking far side of Ogre spawn, repeat until 8 bombs
  • Shade phase after bombs, need to be twice as fast killing Ogre and Vessel
  • Reload prior going in, focus Shade ASAP
  • ToM final round to half HP, reload and fire again
  • If >3 Thrall, kill 3x Thrall with ToM for regen, otherwise reload and focus Shade
  • Juggle reloads/ToM Final Round damage depending on amount of Thrall
  • Triple Jump over Shade on slam, focus Shotgun damage while slamming
  • Repeat

The list gets pretty long, but that's just most of the things to keep note of throughout the fight (and if anyone else decides they want to try it). Do that for 16 rounds and hopefully don't have enemies damaging you for Final Stand - and done!


This took me a long time, particularly due to waiting until enrage and the overall fight length regardless of waiting. Out of all the Oryx Solo Challenges I've done so far, this one felt by far the most demanding of them all. While it did take a long time, it was enjoyable as well - a lot of the RNG is removed from this strategy I feel, just a lot of personal error and learning the timing of everything and what to focus.

Abbadon

Intrinsic Perk: Incendiary Rounds: Bullets light enemies on fire and penetrawte leaving all victims of this weapon, ablaze.

Before the Dawning update, like most I rarely got any skeleton keys, but when I did I went straight to Omnigal searching for my perfect counterbalance & third-eye roll - sadly to no avail, just the usual OK/average rolls.

With the skeleton key buff, I now have more to use with Omnigal, I get more Grasps, but now they are more rubbish rolls, so many Exhumed and Monkey-Fighter rolls (I see what you did there Bungie)... but hey, I am happier. I feel like I now have a chance - I know I am fooling myself, but I am happier for it.

Thanks for listening to your users Bungie. Let us fool ourselves and don't take hope away.

.. now, back to the screaming banshee and hope... hope.

Perfect Practice: How to "Git Gud" for the Crucible

How exactly does one "git gud"? Is it a certain gun, a certain tactic, a certain subclass? Is there a special key that suddenly propels an average player to the pinnacle of Crucible ability?

Nope.

There is only one way to "git gud", and it takes time, patience, and the ability to acknowledge your mistakes – which is undoubtedly the most difficult part of the process. To draw a real-world comparison, I played football for a decade of my life, and for the first seven years, I was second-string caliber at best. In the final three years, I started studying the film of my gameplay, and the method I used to improve then will be what I share with you now. My coaches called it "Perfect Practice" – because practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.

Without any further ado, here is my guide to Perfect Practice.

Part One: Film Study

For this method to work, you will need to devote a large portion of your time to film review. You'll need some way to take notes, be it an electronic device, voice recording, or old-fashioned pen and pad. To start, record between one and three matches of your preferred game type in the Crucible. Play to the best of your ability, without getting flustered.

For reviewing gameplay, I use Share Factory on PS4, and the Xbox One equivalent is Upload Studio.

Step One: Reviewing Mistakes

The very first thing you want to do is make notes of the mistakes you made. There's no need to count the exact number of times any mistake is made, but do keep notes on the frequency; whether it happens every engagement, most, some, or rarely, be aware of how often you do it. This will help for prioritizing what you practice. Below is a list of ten common mistakes:

  1. Failing to pay attention to the radar and getting flanked

  2. Trying to win a 2vs1 engagement rather than falling back

  3. Moving on from a successful engagement to the next without regenerating health

  4. Failing to use grenades to soften opponents at full health or kill opponents at low health

  5. Attempting to kill a low health opponent at close range with your weapon rather than a melee

  6. Activating a roaming super outside of cover in plain view of your opponents

  7. Peeking sniper lanes when you know they are being covered

  8. Walking around corners or through doorways, allowing a sniper to kill you with minimal scope movement (Note: when going through doors or turning corners near common lanes, always, always make sure to either slide or jump – most snipers will hold their scopes at head level for easy kills, and will have a hard time adjusting to this)

  9. Headhunting – if a player teabags, emotes, etc. in an effort to get you tilted and you start headhunting them, that player wins. You'll get so focused on them that their teammates get free kills.

  10. Not disengaging when losing an engagement – it's not cowardice to retreat when your best hope is a trade. Deny the other team points, and come back when you've got full health.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. Writing one of those up would take up multiple pages, these are only some of the more common mistakes, and easily rectifiable.

I recommend viewing each engagement multiple times, as more often than not, a lost engagement will hold multiple miscues or missed opportunities.

Now, noting your failures is only one half of film – it would be miserable as opposed to merely difficult if we kept our focus solely on the negative. After you've gone through and noted where you went wrong, take a look at all the things you succeeded at, and make note of them as well! You'll want to make sure you continue performing those actions to the best of your ability.

Part Two: Perfect Practice

So, after you've cramped your hands writing, the next part is to actually practice the abilities that aren't up to par. When doing this, I would always start with the very basics, and work my way up. What you'll want to do for practicing in the Crucible is similar. Focus on one aspect of your game that you want to improve, and spend at least two games where your sole focus is that ability.

For example, if you're having trouble landing headshots with your primary weapon of choice, spend two games only going for headshots with that primary – ignore special and heavy ammo, abilities, and super. If the goal is to improve grenade accuracy, spend your time learning the trajectory and limits of the subclasses grenade, then practice landing them exactly where you want. If you've got a habit of trying to take on two opponents at once, pay attention to every engagement you enter – if there are two players from the opposing team both looking at you, run.

While you may make more mistakes during your practice matches than you would going full speed and trying your hardest to do everything, you will begin to engrain the correct habits into muscle memory and reflex with each match spent practicing a skill. This will allow you to slowly improve each factor of your game, culminating with a drastic improvement of overall ability. As you progress through Perfect Practice, each improved skill will come together to improve your gameplay far beyond the sum of its parts.

Additional Tips

 The amount of time you spend practicing is entirely up to you, though the goal for Perfect Practice is to reach a point where you're not consciously trying to perform these skills correctly – the goal is for it to become muscle memory.
 This method works best when you focus on one skill at a time. Trying to improve too many things at once will lead to poor returns for all skills, rather than improvement one at a time.

 Probably half of your time will be spent studying film. It's boring, it is the furthest thing from fun, and you'll hate to see just how far you have to go. However, after a few sessions of this, I think you'll be surprised at just how much progress you've made. If there's ever any doubt, just compare film from the very first session to film from the most recent session – some of your shortcomings may have entirely disappeared!

 Gun skill is one of the easiest aspects of your game to improve. If there's any area that I recommend working on first, it's awareness. Learn the sniper lanes, learn when to slide or jump around a corner, when to retreat, when you're getting flanked, and what areas or spots on each map provide the greatest advantage. Many players have excellent gun skill, but lack the knowledge to make use of the map or the awareness of when and where to retreat when they are losing an engagement.

 This method isn't guaranteed to make you a top tier player. If you're below average, average, or even good, however, it will help you improve the aspects of your game that are lacking.

Like with the Taken King, the expectation for this year seems to be that Bungie will drop us something resembling a sizeable amount of content in the new year to stave off content drought. The expectation also seems to be that, as is implied by the new strike variants, this new content might just be the return of the year 1 raids, and this as a concept would appear to be a lot more likely than creating a load of new content from scratch, considering the greater part of the live team is probably working on Destiny 2 at this point. Here's how I invisioned the most perfect, and highly unrealistic, way this could be done:

  • Light Level cap increased to 450
  • 3 new quests: Judgenent's plea, Reincarnation, and Shattered Glass
  • Judgement's Plea: "Guardian, we've received a distress call from the reef; it's from the Warden of the Prison of Elders - Variks the Loyal" "Spliced abominations of House Devils have taken the prison, guardian. Their leaders are dead, their god's are dead, the source of their corruption is destroyed. They are desperate and wild, and now seek a new abomination to follow. They seek the body of Skolas, guardian; to reanimate the false kell of kells so they might follow him. Skolas was a fool, these spliced abominations are worse - They are more than fallen, guardian - Eliminate them, before they attempt their foolish goal."
  • This quest involves a introduction mission, a new LL 410 PoE, a LL 420 PoE with a Skolas perfected - kell of abominations - boss, and completing the quest unlocks a new 430 CoE, which has spliced enemies in the normal mix of enemies.
  • Reincarnation: Involves an introduction mission that establishes that a number of ascendant hive have invaded the hell-mouth, with the intention of usurping Crota's mantle as a hive god. This leads to the remade Crota's End raid, at LL 440, and with a different final boss, (maybe with a main boss that is being shielded by two wizards, which can only be halted by downing them with a sword at the same time [2 swords this meaning] - Just an idea). Completing the raid the first time processes the quest, which eventually leads to getting a Year 3 Necrochasm, (Void maybe, with an altered exotic perk to - ya know - make it remotely worth using).
  • Shattered Glass : Begins with a mission establishing the Vex have succeeded in prototyping their ontological weapons outside of the Vault of Glass, (as seen in the Nexus strike variant). This then leads to a LL 450 version of the Vault of Glass raid, with a new final boss, (only concept I could come up with was a boss that teleported forward or backward in time, and you had to move your team through the respective portal to damage them, maybe). Completing the raid for the first time progresses the quest, and eventually leads to a Year 3 Vex Mythoclast. The quest would involve salvaging vex tech from the VoG, like killing Gordons without wiping.

Tl;dr: Raids and raid exotics at year 3 levels, plz Bungo (also, PoE with siva would be cool)

DestinyTrialsReport - Announcing our new Weekly Challenges!

Hey Guardians,

I'm part of the team at DestinyTrialsReport and I wanted to let you all know about something new that we've been working hard on to put together!

We've created a weekly challenge designed to create some fun and interesting competition within the Trials community. Basically, every weekend from here on out we will be having a different challenge for anyone that wants to compete for a special "Challenger" badge on our site. The challenges will be designed with some sort of strategic or slaying goal in mind and hopefully nobody will feel excluded due to things like a "Most Nechrocasm kills in a weekend" would just exclude those who don't have the weapon.

So, every Friday right as Trials starts we will be posting the Challenge on our Twitter and it will also be updated on our site, www.destinytrialsreport.com. If you place in the top 3 challengers, you'll earn a special "Challenger" badge on our site!

You'll be able to track who is currently in the top 10 on our site since we've put together a live leaderboard that updates every 10 minutes.

This first week we've put together a challenge that we thought was pretty interesting. For this first week, we asked people to get kills with as many different weapons as possible. Previously, we knew that the most diversity we had seen was somebody using 42 different weapons in one weekend of Trials. So, we wanted to see who could really push the limits of their loadout.

If you are interested in getting started and competing for this week's challenge, you'll need to know a few things:

1. Getting kills with multiples of the same weapon won't increase your score. i.e. Two kills with two different Year 3 TLWs only nets you 1 point. But, if you were to get a kill with say a Year 3 Longbow and then a Year 1 Longbow, that will net you 2 points. 2. Assists do not count. You must get credit for the kill. 3. Your progress is account wide. Not separate on each of your characters. 

I also wanted to let you all know that we've started taking requests on our Twitter @TrialsReport for stats that people are interested in knowing about Trials weekends on the Wednesday following the particular weekend people are interested in. We usually do this mid-day by announcing that "for the next hour we'll be taking stat requests" and then spend time making a list of requests and answering as many as we can. We usually end up posting things regarding most used weapons, spawn win percentages, people with the most kills with _____. That sort of thing.

Destiny Flavor Text Spreadsheet

Hello world. As an exercise to improve my typing I created a spreadsheet in Google Drive with the interesting flavor text found in Destiny's various gear and items.

Please note: this is a list of the interesting flavor text in the game, it is not all inclusive. Some things that are not included are:

  • Copies of entries with the same flavor text

Example: The Rare quality Knight set has about 7 entries (Mark 1 - 7) for each slot all of which have the exact same flavor text. I used the flavor text from the first entry (mark 1) and passed over the remainder.

  • Flavor text which serves as an advertisement.

Example: X, Y, Z SUROS, With X gun you will bury your foes in lead!, etc.

  • Flavor text which describes function, and has no lore or entertainment value.

Example: X gun has its barrel wrapped in gel for reduced recoil (when the weapon's stats actually have horrible recoil direction and stability)

  • Flavor text which describes the item itself,with little to no lore or entertainment value.

Example: X boots have impact reducing inertial sinks in the heels for quick changes in momentum.

Revisiting old strikes is good. How about "revisiting" old weapons?

We have exotic versions of Black Hammer (Black Spindle), Khvostov (Khvostov 7G-0X) and Stranger's Rifle (No Time to Explain). How about Murmur? This time, instead of 2 elements, it could have all 3 elements. Could be the reward of a new questline, in a future mission involving the hive or taken.

PS: The Iron Gjallarhorn could have been Arc damage. Why have 2 exact same exotics, changing only their colors? We don't have any Arc rocket launches. Only my opinion. Splicers have same guns of normal fallen, with different elements.

When the SRL gods are not amused

Me and my friend decided to do something different being as we had already completed the SRL quest and gotten to rank 5. So we decided to see how far in a race we could get by not hitting any gates (except for the starting line which is unavoidable). As you can see in the video, the SRL gods were not amused.
