Twas the night before raid reset Posted: 25 Dec 2016 09:45 PM PST I made a parody of "A Visit from St. Nicholas By Clement Clarke Moore" for GW2 raid reset. Hope you enjoy: Twas the night before reset, and all through the thicket Not a creature was stirring, not even the trash; Sabetha's cages were hung in the tree-house with care, With plans for their leader to soon reappear; The bandits were nestled all snug in their graves; While memories of fireballs danced in their heads; And Xera is her castle, and KC in his fort Had just been slain for a long week's clear When out across the portal there arose such a clatter, The raiders sprang to see what was the matter. Through the portal they flew like a flash, Tore open their foods to snatch up their cache The glow of the beast on the new-reset wing Gave a lustre of neon to fighters below, When what to my gleaming eyes did appear But a massive boss and 3 wings to clear With blue portals that spawned so quick to threat, I knew in a moment it must be raid reset. More rapid that thieves his successors they came, And we slayed, and shouted, and called the bosses by name: "Now VG! Now Gorsy! now Sab and Sloth On Trio! on Matti! on Escort, KC and Xera!" To the end of the wing! To the end of the night! Happy Reset to all, and to all a good fight! [link] [comments]

Returning after a decent hiatus Posted: 25 Dec 2016 10:23 PM PST So I love the game, but kinda got a bit bored running around with my elementalist, and decided to come back. I'm torn between making a new mesmer or a necromancer, I've enjoyed both but which is more useful for end game content, and which is more fun overall? Or just screw it and go with the new class revenant? [link] [comments]
Hundred blades last hit canceled by auto attack? Posted: 25 Dec 2016 06:54 AM PST So when i have my skill 1 auto attack on, it sometimes cancels my hundred blades' last hit, and instead starts auto attacking. Does anyone have any experience with this? [link] [comments]

Elementalist Dagger/Warhorn Practice and Drake's Breath Posted: 25 Dec 2016 02:57 AM PST Hey guys! You may remember me from my thread about practicing and trying to meet the qT benchmark for FA Staff here: https://redd.it/5jne40 I am here again with more practice for Dagger/Warhorn, but this time I took a different path to get to where I am now. In my previous thread, I received several comments about minor optimizations that can be made to the build and rotation. Here's the one that peaked my interest the most.. From Evochron13:
So I decided to do more research on this magical Drake's Breath rotation that somehow gets more dps on the golem than the standard rotation. Afterall, this is not the first time I've heard of it. A friend used to use Drake's Breath in her D/Wh rotations. Some of the raiders in TS servers my friends are in use Drake's Breath as well and recommend it stating that it is a dps increase due to the higher numbers they get in the testing area with the same setups as qT. I was also in a group last night that insisted on using Drake's Breath at Sabetha cannons if you are not confident enough to try shortened Burning Speed. But why not just immediately swap back into air? From haksilence in the thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/58zahk/qt_updated_guides_and_dps_benchmarks_for_all/d94pt2f/ :
And Fennec's reply:
So who's right? Let's find out. The setup is pretty simple. I used realistic buffs as described on the qT site and all conditions on 1 million and 4 million hp golems. First, we need a base to work with. The FA D/Wh build has two static components to the rotation that you will be doing no matter what variation you are running: Air Autos and Overload Air > Fire Attunement > Air Attunement (when done with fire). This means the simplest base we can work with is exactly that. I got 21.6k dps by doing this on a 1 million hp golem. The rotation is so simple that I do not have to use the 4 million hp golem to rule out mechanical errors or initial burst. The numbers were pretty consistent anyway. Before we add components to the rotation, let's think about what Drake's Breath's role will be in the rotation. It is a long channeled skill that does 4 large ticks of damage in addition to some burning. You can also swap into air while channeling it. This leads me to believe there are 3 ways it could be implemented. One way is that you replace air autos with Drake's Breath, which could be stronger. Another way is to alter the build so that you can swap off Aeromancer's Training and take the glyph cd trait instead. Now you have 100% crit chance in fire attunement and can take advantage of the 10% modifier without fear of missing a crit. The last way to integrate Drake's Breath is to completely change the rotation into something different. No longer will you focus on using Overload Air as often as possible. For the first test, my rotation was (Overload Air > Fire Attunement > Drake's Breath > Air Attunement > Lightning Whip > Overload Air) to replace air autos. I ended up with 20.8k dps which is .8k lower than the base. It seems to be that Drake's Breath as an alternative for air autos is not as efficient. To be thorough in my testing, I decided to make the rotation a little longer and more complex by using the 4 million hp golem and adding in the Burning Speed and Wildfire portions of the fire swap. Now the rotation was (Overload Air > Fire Attunement > Burning Speed > Wildfire, if off cooldown > Drake's Breath > Air Attunement > Lightning Whip > Overload Air). After multiple tests, I ended up with 23.4k dps. I modified the rotation to be as haksilence recommends and only used Drake's Breath when Wildfire was not on cooldown. I got 23.8k dps. Now we take away Drake's Breath altogether. I ended up with 24.2k dps. This final benchmark will be the new base for the rest of the experiments since they will all involve full fire attunement rotations. For the second test, I added in food to simulate higher precision from assassin's trinkets and precise infusions to reach the crit cap across the board. I used Peppermint Oil and Chickpea Soup since I just need attacks in fire attunement to have a 100% chance of critting. So now, if I cannot use Drake's Breath in air, I should be able to use it in fire right? On the plus side, while I am channeling this, my Overload Air field ticks will receive the 10% damage modifier from fire! The rotation I used was (Overload Air > Fire Attunement > Burning Speed > Wildfire, if off cooldown > Drake's Breath > Air Attunement, after done channeling > Lightning Whip > Overload Air). The final results were 22.9k dps. For the third test, I figured that if I am spending this much time in fire attunement by channeling Drake's Breath and dealing with Wildfire's after cast, I may as well use Overload Fire right? This radically changes the rotation, but it should look familiar to those who know the FA Staff rotation: (Overload Air > Fire Attunement > Burning Speed > Wildfire > Drake's Breath > Dragon's Claw > Fire Overload > Air Attunement > Lightning Whip > Overload Air > Water Attunement > Air Attunement > Lightning whip > Overload Air > Fire Attunement). I ended up with 23k dps. Here are all the end results side by side with the highest dps bolded: 13.2k Autos Only 21.6k Air Overloads and Autos 20.8k Air Overloads + Drake's Breath 23.8k Adding Fire Rotation + Drake's Breath every other 23.4k Fire Rotation + Drake's Breath every swap 24.2k Fire Rotation - Drake's Breath 22.9k 100% Crit Chance and using Drake's Breath in Fire 23k 100% Crit Chance using Overload Fire with Drake's Breath as filler I wonder how people are getting the idea that Drake's Breath is a dps increase in the first place. If my experiments are correct, the only way it could be is if the boss has higher toughness than the testing golems, say 1600, but then why not just bring a base condi ranger instead? If conditions bypassing the toughness of a boss is the only reason you are using Drake's Breath then why are you playing a power build? As for the people who get higher numbers than the qT benchmark with Drake's Breath, I have one very important question for you all: are you getting higher numbers because of the new skill you introduced or how well you execute the rotation in the first place? Personally, I believe it's the latter. Thanks for reading and feel free to try these experiments out for yourself or come up with some of your own and prove me wrong. This was a lot of fun! In honour of the Secret Toymaker(s) 2016 Posted: 25 Dec 2016 05:22 PM PST This year was the first year that I managed to participate in Secret Toymaker. Both the gifts that I've sent and that the gifts that I've received have really made me appreciate the community that made Guild Wars 2 what it is to this day, a warm-hearthed community that encourages players to reach their full-potetionial. Through this post I'd like to discover what your (every single GW2-player) wishes and or/goals are so I can contribute to this in my my own humble way. If you're willing to mention your account-name and (please be humble and releastic) demads, I'll do my best this entire year to furfill other's wishes this year around! (Sorry for my relatively poor English, but I do hope to spread the Secret Toymaker's Cheers all year around!) PS: Mentioning your account-name might be a bit problamatic, so please inform me (moderators or otherwise) if this is in any way was in strife with the current rules! Special credit to FariFariNos who contributed an entire video to (my) Secret Toymaker and thus spread the Christmas Cheer in Spain and beyond![You're the best!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfo1tb8W50k&lc=z134xdtbnnzpvb4p204chtgz2xaxzzgxcd0) (I'm sorry, I'm relatively new to Reddit (in terms of posting) so I'm still learning the formating.) Also, a more than special thanks to the person who gifted me (Son of Odin) a dedicated Spear & Hammer for both possible sons of Odin! You deserve bonus points for originality :) Edit: Please take in account that I'll be working on this thread the entire year, I won't be able to gift you items immediately because I'll have to make the gold myself first. I'll do my best to gift you certain items as soon as possible if it's in my grasp. (+ some minor grammatical errors) [link] [comments]
Happy Holidays everyone. I'm looking for some friends. Posted: 25 Dec 2016 09:55 AM PST I was a day one player of GW2 and loved it. I played for probably the whole first year and then dabbled here and there through the second year and then just never looked back. I tried WoW, I tried FFXIV and none of it cut it for me. I've been away from GW2 for long enough to where I deleted my old toons and said screw it I'll make a new account and start again. But I've lost a lot of friends who use to play and would love to play the game again and make some new ones. :) GhosterStrudel.8025 Feel free to add me and hopefully I'll get to see you all around. And happy holidays! [link] [comments]

What WvW reward track should I be pursuing? Posted: 25 Dec 2016 11:21 AM PST I noticed yesterday that you have a choice of what reward track you can go for and I changed mine to the one that has Gift of Battle as the final reward. I am pretty sure those are used for crafting Legendary Weapons so I thought I might eventually need them, but I am no where near ready to start that journey. So, brief summery of where I am at in the game, I am a returning player that started HoT about a week or two ago. I am very casual, I just arrived at Tangled Depths in the HoT storyline. I like to flip camps in WvW and just follow the zerg because its fun but I am 7 points away from getting WvW auto-loot. I am not really a serious WvW player, I just try to help out. I really have so much to do right now that I am not going to make a legendary for a long time so I chose the only reward track that I knew what the end reward is. My question is, for a player like me, is there a better reward track I should be on? Or what rewards do you pursue and why? Any tips would help! [link] [comments]
How do the other Elder Dragons look like in your opinion? Posted: 25 Dec 2016 08:03 AM PST Merry Christmas everybody! Since we don't really know how the remaining Elder Dragons look like (except for some parts, for example the back of Kralkatorrik or the head of Primordus), how do you imagine them? And why? To give an example: I imagine Jormag to kinda look like a frosty/icy dragon-serpent, because there are several references to that like his tooth being named "Fang of the Serpent". Please share your thoughts, I would love to hear them! Edit: Correted some spelling mistakes. [link] [comments]
Authenticator added to my account for some reason? Posted: 25 Dec 2016 04:21 PM PST I haven't played (or logged into my account) in months and I'm apparently unable to play because I now I have an authenticator associated with my account. The problem is I don't remember ever setting up an authenticator or two factor system. Did I get hijacked or was there a security change in the past year that I'm not aware of? [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 08:44 PM PST I was cleaning my bank a bit and salvaged a lot of ascended trinkets that I didn't find useful and found out that some ascended trinkets can't be salvaged. Namely amulets Whisper's Secret and Priory's History. Is there any reason why is that so? I was hoping to get some pieces for "Ascended Recycling" collection while salvaging all those unwanted trinkets. I didn't get any of course (I'm very unlucky in that kind of stuff), but still I could have had two more tries and that's something, right? [link] [comments]
