Hey fams,

I know we've had our differences about which MOBA is better between HotS or HotS. And sure we may disagree about who had the better version of Thrall. Personally I'm a bigger fan of our Thrall compared to your Thrall. (What a try hard, amirite? ChainLightningLOL?! Moar like GreenJesus.)

And yes it's true we've had many needless deaths in turf wars and other tom foolery.

But at least we can all agree we deserved a Black Friday deal.

Merry holidays.

Dear HOTS team, please fix this god damn double music bug.

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 06:57 AM PST

This bug exists since the start of HOTS: two music tracks are playing at the same time. This bug appears normally with such events as the appearance of the spider queen, the immortal etc.

Before it was possible to fix the bug by just toggling "continues music" in options. But since the last patch it doesn't help anymore. I have to listen this cacophony till the end of the game. It is very distracting and makes it very hard to concentrate on the game. This bug happens quite often and is very distracting.

I post this bug here regularly since the beginning of the HOTS. Around 5 months ago a Blizzard guy even replied to me, and said he will forward it to the dev. team.

But since then nothing had happened. So, here I go again with my post.

P.S.

Most of the time i just got downvoted for some reason. But whatever

P.P.S.

Please don't tell me to switch off the music. This is not the solution. I want to play with the original background music. Thanx

[SOLOQ TRICK] Taste for 500 stacks and other Azmodan tips

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 05:59 AM PST

As Azmodan main, after previous popular trick I want to post another one, which isn't much a trick, but one another way to achieve Taste for Blood stacks little faster when you're in solo queue and don't have coordinated team that will help you achieve stacks.

The trick is simple: use Black Pool at maximum to get more stacks early game, i.e. use it not just for Globe (Q) but also for auto-attacks that deal 75% more damage as well! And here is the instruction, how to do it:

  1. When near enemy minion wave, cast black pool. It lasts 5 seconds.

  2. Quickly auto-attack ONCE every ranged minion and caster minion (the one with globe). Azmodan's auto-attack speed is 1.00 per second, so you can do 3-4 empowered auto-attacks and...

  3. IMMEDIATELY cast your Q.

  4. You got 4-7 stacks in 5 seconds! More than 4 stacks can be in case when enemy melee minions were already damaged by your minions.

The trick is simple: even when you have like zero stacks of Taste for Blood quest, it is enough at level 10 to cast black-pool'ed empowered auto-attacks and one Q to kill ranged and caster minions.

It won't work on melee minions because they have larger health pool and it won't be enough to make BP'ed auto-attack+globe to kill them.

How to achieve stacks before level 10

Before you reach level 10, it will be harder to do that, but I learned that even then it can be done well, maybe less effective than with coordinated team and safer for ya, cause you will be against someone from enemy team.

Ranged minions require 5 AA + Globe to be killed. Melee minions need 7 auto-attacks + Globe to be killed. So here is tip: aim at melee minions cause they're already in fight and are damaged to get early game stacks. Also melee minions are closer to you so it's a little safer to farm them than ranged minions.

  1. Auto-attack melee minions 5-6 times each that are less damaged by your minions.

  2. When enemy melee minions that are going to die from your minions, cast Globe.

  3. You will get 2-3 stacks from killing minions that you're attacking and minions that are going to die from your minions.

Use Globe (Q) and Demon Warriors (W) as scouting tool

You knew that Globe of Annihilation briefly gives vision over whole of its path? Sieging Wrath gives less damage but more range so you can scout at longer distances.

Use Globe to scout:

  • enemy mercs and camps

  • enemy abathur

  • who is approaching to your lane and going to gank (cast globe perpendicularly from your lane)

  • scout brushes to avoid facechecking

Your Demon Warriors (W) will walk in line and then they will march to nearest lane to push. Use it as scouting tool to scout nearest brushes as well. Also when someone is trying to chase you. cast demon warriors in front of them, as they will dismount enemy hero.

Using Black Pool at maximum efficiency

Usually I see many Azmodan players casting Black Pool ONLY for Globe. That can provide some moderate damage, but let me tell you about even more effective way, which makes Azmodan very strong in teamfights.

  1. Cast Black Pool.

  2. Cast your lazer immediately.

  3. If enemy heroes interrupted you, cast Globe and start auto-attacking immediately! Don't waste black pool by running away or thinking on what to do next second. Use it at maximum!

  4. If enemy hero that is low health managed to escape radius of your lazer, IMMEDIATELY cast Globe at them. Usually it ends with kill or near-to-die enemy hero.

Always remember that Black Pool increases your whole your damage output.

Azmodan have some strenght lying in him, and it is not that transparent as strength of, say, Ragnaros, Li'Ming or Alarak.

gl hf!

Poll: What Franchise do you want a hero from next??

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 08:53 AM PST

A discussion on the current meta, and why some players are frustrated with it.

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 08:32 AM PST

Ever since the Ragnaros patch and even after he got nerfed, we've seen a drastic shift in the HL meta. We've seen the sudden reemergence of several heroes and some other heroes become even stronger than they were before.

Which heroes are strong(er), and why?

  • Diablo- Since the 12/14 Patch Diablo has become a powerhouse. His rework gave him very strong early game talents and even better late game talents along with a big buff to his waveclear and even more health whens he's fully stacked. If we look at hotslogs there isnt any particular talent that makes his WR so high and dominate other than maybe the fishy devil's due on level one, it has more to do with the base changes seemingly.

  • Rehgar!- Rehgod is back, but why? 12/14 Patch came with lifeleech on Bloodlust and very strong baseline damage buffs. Bloodlust hosts a much higher winrate than ancestral and Rehgar got a 20% damage buff to his AA along with 10% buff to lightning shield. This makes him much more menacing in the frontline, allowing Rehgar to build into lightning shield again which pairs well with Diablo. Bloodlust buffs were strong but the reason why they are so strong have a lot to do with the popular assassins he's using the ult on.

  • ...And one of those assassins is Raynor- Raynor? Why is he good? He didnt get any buffs that we know of. Well he's bugged. So he must be mentioned. The difference in winrate of Hyperion and Raider's is 10%! Hyperion is bugged and just in time for Bloodlust to be good too, making Raynor arguably the strongest range assassin for the time being.

  • And finally, Thrall- EQ's wr is more than 10% higher than his other ult, sunder. Thrall's talent diversity is stale for the most part but EQs winrate is very high, I have a feeling there might be a bug we haven't discovered but EQ is perfect for the meta regardless. Which brings us to our next part.

Why are people finding this meta so frustrating? I've seen several streams, reddit posts, and even in my HL games (Masters-GM level) my team mates expressing how much they loathe this meta. Here's two reasons why people have become frustrated with it:

  • Banning Phase has become unfun Raynor is a problem. In masters/diamond and in most leagues he is up there in winrate and only in bronze do you not see him in top 10. Knowing he is a bugged hero it takes the strategic fun out of banning, you either ban him or risk someone taking him. Even if Raynor wasn't bugged there are two other heroes with high winrates in which you'd want to spend your bans on. Support balance feels it has taken a turn for the worse, Malf and Rehgar are the healers that are at above 50% wr and the problem gets worse the higher the league you go. Diablo si the only standard tank with an above 50% wr and all the other sought after ones (Mura, Joh, and ETC) are suppressed under him. Only "off" tanks like Zarya and Dehaka are doing decently. This imbalance of supports and tanks, along with bugged Raynor leaves the drafters with less options than I think would be ideal. Last Meta felt reasonably healthy, and of course Blizzard with patch some of this but it makes people feel annoyed even before a game starts.

  • The popular and high WR heroes all have ults that combo really well together. At first that sounds great, until you realize that when youre the one taking the ults the game suddenly becomes aggravating. Being slowed by 70% from a screen away and then Apoc'd all while a bugged Hyperion flies overhead is not only not fun but is much easier to do than it is to play against. Its very oppressive even if it is beatable. Yes not everyone gets all these heroes but theres always going to be a combination of them, and I havent even mentioned BL yet. It takes the fun out of team fighting and makes it feel like whoever presses R first and whoever has the better R presser heroes wins the teamfight.

Really all I want is for Blizz to hopefully do a hotfix for Raynor and hopefully another small one for Diablo, EQ, and BL down the road. I wish they could somehow make EQ and BL more skillfull in their use but I think if they stay the way they are they just need to be toned down. Alsodeletehauntedminesforeverandever

What do you think? Do you like the meta? Do these frustrations make more sense now?

Hello friends! I'm a casual gamer, peaked Plat 5 in League and now I would like to begin my quest in HotS. Can you tell me some good sources to learn the meta and currently the best heroes? Is there any heroes you think are similar to the League ones so I can be more familiar with them? Is there a last hitting mechanic to gather gold as well or it isn't as important? Thank you and happy feast of winterveil!

Savage's Comprehensive Guide to BMing

Posted: 24 Dec 2016 06:13 PM PST

Christmas gift to the HOTS community:

Hello folks! Today, I will be presenting to you, Heroes of the Storm players, a guide on the cherished art of BMing.

For those of you who do not know, BM stands for "bad manners". In turn, BMing is doing something that entails you are intentionally displaying your bad manners in some form.

For further clarification -

EXAMPLE 1: You and your die hard Team League buddies with discord have just STOMPED the enemy team. They're core is dwindling and they are all dead! The game is without a doubt a victory. With that being said, you enter the command /dance and show off your moves instead of finishing off the core.

EXAMPLE 2: You are the maurading Li Ming, you just got a double kill! Instead of retreating to safety or go help that poor Lt. Morales soloing the giants, you rapidly press the B key around your victims corpses. This is known as B-stepping, later to be explained.

BMing may seem heartless, cruel, sadistic, or bitter... rutheless, evil, insensitive, and malicious... And it is! But it's so much fun. And it's totally worth it, ESPECIALLY after you discover the plethora of ways this glamorous art form can be displayed. Not only that but I'll show you other cool things in the Nexus!

Without further ado...

SAVAGE'S COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO BMing Deluxe Edition

So you want to show your lack of remorse to the enemy in style. You are in the right place!

The first and most basic way of BMing is the /dance command. To do this, press the enter key while in-game, type "/dance" and hit enter. The number pad key "2" is the default /dance command.

DANCE EXAMPLE

All heroes have this ability and each dance animation is unique to that hero.

Another way for BMing is the /taunt command. To do this, do the exact same thing as listed above but instead of "/dance", you type "/taunt". The number pad key "1" is the default /taunt command.

TAUNT EXAMPLE

Like the dance ability, all heroes have a taunt and they are all unique.

Now that we are over the basics of BMing, we can further explore the world of unique ways to do it.

Next we have the B-Step, also known as the B-Walk. It is the act of pressing the B key in-game immediately followed by having your hero move. The effect is a HOTS symbol temporarily bestowed upon the ground without your hero in the way to see it.

Do this in quick succession to complete the B-Step and drive your poor enemy noobz insane.

B-STEP EXAMPLE

Any hero can do this! It's the most common form of BM and often not actually used for BMing but rather a gesture of mutual fun. See not all BMing can be mean! Unfortunately.

Now that we know using the Hearthstone ability (B key) as a way to BM, we can look at the hero specific B-Step possibilities.

I have a few examples of hero specific B-Step artforms, and of course there are more but I don't care about those, so here are my favorites.

DEHAKA SLITHER

Stopping Dehaka's Hearthstone animation right before it ends allows you to loop his movements to make slither.

JOHANNA SPIN

Johanna spins AND does hearthstone. How cool is that? Well I don't know, ask your enemies!

SAMURO TRIPLE BM MADNESS

Three at a time, that's three times the suffering of your enemies. Beautiful.

SYLVANAS B-WAVE

Sylvanas knows how to leave in style. She shows no remorse while escaping to safety. ;-;

IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-D-D-DDDDD DANCE

Here comes some of the most luxurious forms of BMing. These do require some tweaking around with keys and commands and I'll be glad to show you how that is done.

Note: I did not discover this art form, I found it on a post here on reddit that I'm too lazy to find for you. What I did do is revolutionize it. Not really but yeah here you go.

What it is: Putting the /dance command onto a single key. That key can be on your keyboard or mouse. I prefer mouse for the convenience.

What you can do: Start a heroes dance animation (with the newly chosen key), move and therefore stopping the animation, then restart the animation.

What happens: Your hero does their dance animation, moves, then does it again.

There are certain heroes that can do this and the result is absolutely stunning. Truly glorious. BMing with passion.

LEORIC CLAP

That was the OG, the beginning of an era, the hallmark of this elegant art.

ABATHUR FACEPLANT

Slug lyfe imminent. BMing imperative.

REHGODDOG STANDS

LOK'TAR DOGAR! ...XD ...I tried.

Next up we have the Spin Series.

JIMMY TURNER

KHARASPIN

GUL'FAN

Finally, we have the Jump Duo.

FALSTAD

His Buccaneer skin makes a parrot squawk evertime you press the dance key, successively pressing it makes an annoying loop of bird noises.

CHEN

One last thing you can do is charge your hero into the Hall of Storms (where your hero starts the game at) and you'll be shot back. The kick is that a spark happens. Get your whole team to do this and it's a show!

Great! You made it to the end! You are now equipped with some of the most repugnant ways of expressing your victories. Yay!

DELUXE EDITION

Here lies the finest of BMing

The high end of product

Truly the most savage of performances

VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED, SAVAGE INCORPORATED DOES NOT HOLD RESPONSIBLITY FOR ANY INJURIES, DISEASES, FEELINGS, OR REPERCUSSIONS BEYOND THIS POINT

The Ming Seizure

To perform this, a sacrifice is required. Preferably a double kill and beyond. Yes, it is that extreme. After you sacrifice your poor enemies, it can begin. Only Li Ming is capable of this do to her trait.

Here it is, The Li Ming Seizure

Simple but gruesome. I know.

Sentenced to... DANCE

Sentenced to...DANCE can only be performed by the lord of BMing himself. Zeratul. It is absolutely the most devastating way to induce rage among st your foes.

Sentenced to... DANCE

COMMENT SUGGESTED BMs

Summoner

A commentor suggested this one. One of my favorites!

Chaos Thrust

I must say, this one is hilarious, well done to who commented for Chaos Thrust.

Twirl Of Doom

Step 1. Pick Disintegrate Step 2. BM

Twirl Of Doom

In conclusion, BMing is a great tool to tilt your enemies. Nothing drives a person into chaos more than killing them on a video game and rubbing in their face. Please BM responsibly. Not really, go nuts.

Edit: Formatting. What are you still doing here? ANYTHING POSTED THAT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED INTO HERE WILL BE ADDED AND GIVEN CREDIT TO BY THE INFORMANT.

Credits

/u/AVRadev for showing the default number pad keys for /dance and /taunt.

/u/thesourceandthesound for Gul'Dan's demonic portal spam.

/u/Blazikiller for the Cho'Gall thrusting, too good.

/u/im_a_roc for the obvious charge into Hall of Storms. Mistakes were made

/u/rrrrupp for Disintegrate Twirl Of Doom.

Edit 2: Intended for this to be comical, for fun. BMing, here at least, is just a way to communicate to the enemy team because in-game there is no other way. The post is showing the different ways to "talk" to the enemies. If you disagree, then that's your opinion, oh well. The post and BMing itself are not intended for harm.

Consistant 1k ping spikes, anyone else getting this?

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 02:47 AM PST

I just need to know if I'm not the only one that suddenly gets booted out of the game due to a sudden 1k ping spike, or have to endure a game of constant 400 ping. There is no consistancy in this happening and it comes and goes as it pleases. I can load everything else just fine, 720p HD videos run smoothly, I don't lag in other games like League to the degree like this. Please tell me I am not the only one.

EDIT : Title may be misleading, what I meant to put was "Random 1k-10k ping spikes that happen consistantly everyday at no particular intervals. Anyone else getting this?"

What is the dominant Diablo build right now?

Posted: 25 Dec 2016 08:26 AM PST

Hello guys,

Last season, Diablo was one of my highest win rate Heroes. However, I was building him strictly as a bruiser not a solo tank, and would often get top damage with him. I was going for all firestomp talents, with Diabolical momentum level 7 as well.

I just logged in for the first time since season 3 started and noticed there was significant changes to Diablo now. Would you say he is more of a tank now than a bruiser? And what seems to be the dominant build for him? It seems like he is getting a lot of play now as I have seen him banned in alot of games.
