How to force your Eevee to evolve into your choice of Eeveelution! - by smithnigel

Hey All,
It would seem that there is in fact a way to force an evolution of your Eevee. The Eevee Brothers from the original anime were named Rainer, Pyro, Sparky and they owned a Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon respectively. If you nickname your Eevee either Rainer, Pyro or Sparky, your Eevee will evolve into that desired Eeveelution!
Sparky = Jolteon
Rainer = Vaporeon
Pyro = Flareon
I have tried it on a few Eevees and so have friends, and we've seen a 100% success rate. Feel free to give it a try and post back here with results!

Pokemon Go Evolution CP Multiplier Sheet - Know (approximately) how much CP your evolved Pokemon will have! - by Carlitocarlin

Hey everyone!
I created a spreadsheet (inspired by /u/afandrew2000 and /u/pokeagogo) that lists how much CP each Pokemon gains when they evolve. Here's the sheet.
The data so far is based off community input, so I also created a form that'll auto-update the sheet—when your Pokemon evolve, take note of the before and after CP and contribute to the sheet! Here's the form in qestion.
Again, numbers are all based on community input, so take 'em with a grain of salt. I'll be sifting through periodically to handle any anomalies/troll inputs, and will be looking to do a deeper dive when I get more data.
We're still missing lots of data for less common Pokemon, so please use the form when you evolve your Pokemon!
Enjoy!
EDIT: Woah crazy response guys, I'm stoked that this is something useful for other peeps :)
Thanks to a few trolls, the live sheet may not be accurate all the time, I've saved a snapshot of the live sheet at a time where the data was 'clean' (under the aptly-titled "Snapshot at 1224hrs PST 16 Jun 16 " sheet) so that there's at least a reliable version of this info if needed.
So a bunch of you have made several really good points about how this model can be improved—here are the changes I plan to make in the near future:
Trainer level definitely seems to have an impact, will look into the data to figure out how it factors in
Will add the max and min multipliers for each Pokemon to provide a clearer picture of the range -Done!
Will add standard deviation for all the submissions for each Pokemon
Organize by pokedex order instead of alphabetical order
This doc is a work in progress. At this point, I'd say that it gives you an idea of what to expect, but certainly not a guarantee, so keep that in mind. If you guys have any ideas for improvements, list them below and I'll add them to my to-do list.
Other than that, keep leaving suggestions, or making use of the chart, but I'm going to sleep. I'll try to keep up with any needed updates the morning

Hey kids - Please stop making fun of overweight people who are playing... - by  TEKNOC

Hey there,
Part time basketball coach here who works with 11-15 year olds during the school year. I am some one who really tries hard to motivate kids to get out and exercise, so I think Pokemon Go is a great game for this - especially during the summer!
I have seen so many kids out running around and capturing Pokemon, some even going on epic walking quests to fight at gyms, stop at PokeStops, and of course catch Pokemon. It is awesome!
I have also seen some not so nice stuff, like kids snickering about "fat kids" trying to get out and use the game to exercise. And that is just so uncalled for... Grow up, seriously. I want to assume that 99.9% of the people on this sub-reddit are good people, but if you have done this, then you need to GTFO and find a different hobby. I pipe up and say something every time I hear this. And sadly it has been a few times...
Today while I was playing, I saw a chubby kid getting picked on. A bunch of brats were saying "hey look, a Snorlax" but of course, it was just the kid they were pointing at. The part that pissed me off was the over weight boy was looking around for the Snorlax before he realized they were talking about him. After I chewed the bratty kids out, I sat down with the boy and told him to keep up the good work and to not let it get to him. He admitted that playing Pokemon Go motivated him to get out and try and exercise like nothing else has, and he would not let the bullies bug him. He did not play sports, and he was scared of a "real" gym, so he decided that this could be his ticket and he was averaging hatching a 2 km egg every day!! This is really impressive for some one who does not get out much.
I put a lure down where we were sitting and we had some fun catching Pokemon for a bit. Eventually one of the brats came over to use our lure and I told him he could not join unless he would apologize. So he did and we all ended up having some fun. Those two boys ended up even having a pleasant conversation. We got a bunch more people around our lure, and I could tell it really made this boy's day...
Guys, Pokemon Go is doing something special. It is getting anti-social kids, and over weight people out and about and we need to applaud them for that. I enjoy talking to all the kids and people playing about the game and sharing tips and tricks. Or of course, Pokemon locations.
Realize that other people, even the chubby ones, will want experience making friends while playing and a kid who never has exercised before and is finally using this as a tool to better himself needs to be applauded, not shunned back into hiding. So please, make friends out there and if you see an over weight person (especially if they are alone), go have a little chat... Don't even mention their weight, just treat them normally and end the convo with "happy hunting"... This is a social game and it will mean a lot and keep them motivated.
Thanks for listening. Good luck fellow trainers!
Edited for clarity.

Niantic needs a community manager, or spokesperson to talk to us the way Blizzard and other companies do. - by  NuclearTacos

New games have bugs. This usually doesn't bother me because I expect it. What does get frustrating is the lack of communication. I will take the game Overwatch as an example. There are bugs in that game and Blizzard has people that address them and acknowledge them. They announce fixes ahead of time. They explain their reasoning. It is amazing. You know that your concerns are being worked on and that the bug has been noticed by someone who matters. Niantic could do themselves and the playerbase a world of good if they just let people know "Hey we know about the 3 step bug we are looking into it", or "We are working on a system to help people in rural areas, stay tuned." Silence is deafening.

The random ball curve is RIDICULOUS - by Mikehunt56

This mechanic is honestly just completely ridiculous. I don't care if they break out more often from the balls at higher CPs and rarities, but to make the ball curve, go straight when you intentionally curve it, or even curve in the opposite direction you tried to curve it in is insanely frustrating and stupid.
I have a feeling it's intentionally programmed in due to me and a lot of other's observations of it increasing after using a razzberry, and only happening on higher CP and rare pokemon. It'll start from the first throw most times, so it's not just that I'm using more throws compared to lower CP pokemons.
I just caught an Electabuzz after 31 balls (14 great balls, 17 regular). I noticed with my first throw after using a berry that it curved, so I figured I would start counting since this has always been a problem on anything high CP/rare.
24 out of 31 did not do what I wanted. They would either curve when I try to throw straight, go straight when I spun it and tried to curve, or even curved in the opposite direction it was supposed to. That's just unbelievable. I missed 1 throwing it straight but assuming it was going to curve itself, 1 throw hit during his attack animation so it didn't count, and the other 5 hit it and I eventually caught it.
But that's completely ridiculous that due to this mechanic, I had to waste 25 balls. If those 25 balls had done what I wanted them to, but he broke out all 25 times, I wouldn't care.
If this sort of mechanic was in another game that wasn't Pokemon Go, there would be an insane amount of people complaining. Please, make this visible to people in hopes of Niantic seeing it and changing it.
Let's say that all of us were somehow actually messing up our swipes very slightly by curving our finger at the end. Even in that situation, it's poor game design to make it that sensitive. All they need to do is make it so that at least 2 spins of the pokeball are required to curve it at all. No spins, no curve. And if you already spun it up but want to throw straight, make it so that you need to wait at least 3 seconds (or whatever time is significant enough) to have it stop and go straight.

You cannot pick pokeballs back up if they miss - by  deyvtown

There are guide articles and memes and such going rampant around the net, especially Facebook, saying that you can pick up a pokeball if you miss the pokemon and it will go back into your inventory.
THIS IS FALSE
All it has the potential to do is possibly make you throw another one, wasting even more, it will not save you on pokeballs.
EDIT: IMPORTANT NOTE: This is referring specifically to a thrown pokeball. If you drop the ball in front of you, you can still pick it up ONLY while it is still rolling. If you touch the screen anywhere else though you will drop another one, so do so with care.
EDIT2: It appears that this is not the case, tapping the ball if dropped seems to just clear it off the screen so you can throw another and the amount of pokeballs you have still drops by 1.
EDIT3: From more tests it seems that the server sometimes doesn't register the used pokeball until the app is refreshed, so it looks as if picking it up did work when in reality it just hadn't updated yet.
Please stop spreading misinformation, there is little enough official info on this game and how it works as it is.

STORY TIME: Had to call dispatch on another Pokemon Go Player :( - by Bbilbo1

After dropping my daughter off before work, I had just enough time to drive to a nearby park to see what was going on, and check for Gym Occupation and if any Lures were activated.
As I approach the park. I notice a car has been stopped in the middle of the road. This road, frankly, sees light, but consistent traffic. I slow down, and stop for a few seconds. It's a double yellow line, so I'm hesitant to pass them. Out of the driver's window, I see a flabby arm pop out, waving me to pass.
I pass and look over to see a very large woman, chin sunk into their chest. They are PLAYING on their phone! I can't guarantee at this point that it's Pokemon go, but I literally drive 100 FEET into a parking area designated for the recreational area. I open Pokemon go, and see that where they are stopped on the road, is perfectly between two pokestops (both of which have lure modules activated on them).
After a few moments, I'm ready to leave, and I see them still there, now with their emergency flashers on.
I pull up to them, rolling down my window and tell them.
"Listen. You can not STOP in the middle of the road to play your game."
A kid pops forward from the passenger seat to look at me from the other side of the large lady.
"WHY???"
The lady, herself just brushes me off and continues playing.
I look back over to the park and see a handful of people in an otherwise historically empty park, looking down at their phones, walking around, playing the way it was intended. I get angry.
"Well. I can get an officer to come talk to you about EXACTLY why you cant stop your vehicle in the middle of the road to play your game. It blocks traffic, it's dangerous, and it makes the rest of us players look bad when you do things like this."
The lady chortles and shakes her head.
"I'm not making anyone look bad except for ME!"
At this point of her arrogance, I'm done, and frankly I don't want to be stopped on the road, either. I roll up my window, continue driving, then find a spot to pull over. A quick google on my phone shows the number for the local police dispatch. I call in, and report a lady in a blue crossover vehicle stopped in the middle of the road playing a game on her phone. I then resume my drive back to home/work.
THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS!!!
I think I did the right thing, even though I really didn't want to make this game look even WORSE to outsiders/authorities.
TL;DR: I called the cops on a jackass driver stopped in the middle of the road to play Pokemon Go.
EDIT: TL;DR and formatting

Noticing a new trend of people just completely trashing pokestops - by  Touchymonkey

So, the local library near me has been kind enough to let pokemon players post up around the parking lot as there are 4 pokestops in reach. The problem is every morning the place is completely covered in left over trash from the players. I think if a place is nice enough to let mass groups of people chill outside their stores/property/whatever we need to as a community respect the area and enviroment. I've been going the past few days in the morning before any of the businesses/players get there and doing my best to clean up after fellow pokemon hunters and today was a little different. I was cleaning up the street when a older lady who had been watching me for a few minutes came up and fighting tears began to thank me. She explained to me how she's been having to clean up every morning but doesnt want to tell pokemon players to play somewhere else because they are having so much fun there. I think if as a community we all went out of our way to be a little more respectful, public attitude towards the game and its players will be benefited in the long run. Thanks for reading guys, have a good one.

Pokémon GO is saving my brother - by  Ascenrial

My older brother is turning 29 at the end of the month, and has been overweight since his fiancé cheated on him six years ago. Being overweight has its health risks, but for him the risks are far greater. He was born with transposition of the greater arteries, and had open heart surgery at three days old, and was one of the first to survive this experimental surgery. The doctors told my parents that he would never be able to walk. He grew up being an excellent athlete that excelled in every sport he played. He did far better than the doctors could've ever hoped for. With the weight gain, drinking, and smoking his doctor has been worried about his health. He is at such a high risk for more problems if he doesn't take care of himself, and I've tried so hard to encourage him to get healthy again. It's been a constant battle where he loses some weight, then gains more. I've been very worried about my brother, and his personal health. This game has done wonders for him, he's currently off work till August, and has been walking around every day. Just yesterday after work I walked six miles with him, and he tells me about how he's been walking close to twenty miles each day. I couldn't be happier that he's doing something active to help himself. This game is the greatest thing for him, it's something he loves, that encourages him to be active. Thank you Niantic for such an amazing game.
