In-Game Item Trading Update
In 2011, we added a feature to Steam that enabled users to trade in-game items as a way to make it easier for people to get the items they wanted in games featuring in-game economies.
Since then a number of gambling sites started leveraging the Steam trading system, and there’s been some false assumptions about our involvement with these sites...

Promoting or using gambling services for Valve games is now banned on Twitch
Today Valve released an announcement clarifying the intended use of Steam’s trading system and OpenID API. Valve specifically notes that using “the OpenID API and making the same web calls as Steam users to run a gambling business is not allowed by our API nor our user agreements.”...

I'm an old man and cosmetics confuse my brain - by MightiestOats

I know this might not affect you, I know you might not care, the majority of people will think I'm a blind scrub and should get glasses, but I've seen a growing number of people on this subreddit that feel my pain and I want to share my story.
When there's a teamfight, the particle effects are flying and I have a split second to make decisions, I cannot always tell the difference between Skywrath in the Vigilance of the Manticore set and a Legion Commander. I've mistaken a Spectre with the Flowering Shade set for Vengeful spirit and thrown a teamfight. I've been hit with the new red Phoenix sun ray and shat myself because I didn't remember the Drakken laser drill being added to the game.
There's so many visual effects in Dota, and I recognise and know how to react to all of them, but every time some big ass flapping wings or blue glowing Earthshaker gauntlets get added to the game I find it that little bit harder to react to them I.E. I immediately fly into a crazed panic at the new effect I've not used to.
Now I love my hats as much as the next man that keeps throwing his non-expendable income at virtual dress ups, but... can we please get a client side option to disable cosmetics?
I'll still shill out money to get my heroes looking good (obviously I don't mind if my own hero has custom cosmetics since I don't get confused by skills that I'm casting) and the majority of people wouldn't utilise this option, but does anyone agree it would be nice to have?
Sincerely, a noob that doesn't like these damn young kids and their crazy disco ball dota aesthetic.
EDIT: I have a rambling problem
tldr; volvo pls add a client side option to disable cosmetics

Suggestion: Don't give the LC quest line a deadline. Make it permanent - by Rendi9000

That is all.
EDIT: For the people who don't get it, short reply: you guys are dense af lol. long answer: This late quest line is ruining games every fucking where with the increased number of LC spammers and people who wanna pick LC but couldn't, resulting in numerous issues such as griefing & abandoning.
By having the dateline be cancelled or extended, people could do it at their own time, including those who wont be able to play Dota much during this 1 month (such as me lol, fuck being poor rye).
You guys are gonna get jungle LC pickers for fucking ever anyways, the questline ending soon isn't gonna suddenly stop all jungle LC activities. Get over this fact lol.

As someone who has been in low prio 7 times in the last month, I can say that it doesn't feel like a punishment anymore - see inside for suggestions to change it - by thats_my_dota_acc

I got into low prio due to excessive reports 7 times in the last 4 weeks. Do I care? No. It doesn't really feel like a punishment. Single Draft is, compared to All Random, actually a nice game mode. There are different types of games, the clownie ones with 5 core where everyone is doing shit and then some real tryhard games with supports. For 5 Low Prio games I need like 6-7 games on average to get out of it but the games are still fun in some way. After that, I can join ranked/unranked games again and repeat the shit I've done before.
So let's talk about some problems with that system:
  • Of the 7 times I got into low prio, at least 5 of them were due to communication abuse, but I only got muted twice (for 24h). That should've been 5 times and not 2 to be honest.
  • When I finished 5 games of low prio really fast, I still got 19-20h of being muted left and I spent that time in ranked games. I'm sure that caused a loss or two due to not being able to communicate important shit properly. Deserved for me of course but that was also a handicap for the 4 other people I played with
  • I know what's coming for me and I never think "aw shit if I throw/feed/flame now I have to play low prio again"
The low prio system should definitely be changed to punish people - who repeatedly get there - harder. Right now, I think for the first time of low prio you get 3 games, the next times 5. That's basically just 2 stages of punishmen. In my opinion there should be more but they shouldn't vary in the number of games. Here some suggestions:
  • At some point, people should always be muted in low prio games if they are in low prio due to excessive reports. It's pretty simple: if anyone just keeps shit talking in low prio games, they never really 'calm down' again and keep the same attitude once they get back to normal games. If you mute them or maybe even remove the chat (chat wheel can stay), people will more likely come back to a level of dota where they just fucking play the game and dont flame/tilt other people. Maybe people have fallen in a whole and think the game is only playable if they flame other people.
  • People should not be allowed to play ranked games when they are muted. I don't know what the fuck Valve things to let muted players play ranked games. It's a handicap for 4 other people in two ways: muted people can't communicate effectively and they are probably pre-tilted/mad/toxic just from being muted.
  • Forbid stacking in low prio games. When people get their low prio games done in a party, maybe with a much more skilled player, they also don't feel any kind of punishment and maybe even enjoy the games due to playing with friends.
  • Don't be afraid of banning people from playing ranked games for a longer period if they get excessive reports in ranked games. People who can't get their shit together over a longer period should just not be allowed to play a competetive game mode.
  • Muting should be applied way more often and even for some period after low prio games (e.g. muted for the entire time of low prio + 24-72h after low prio, which again would mean being banned from ranked for 24-72h)
However, I'd like to emphasize that my suggestions should only be applied to people who repeatedly (periodically) are in low prio. I know people with very positive mental attitudes who never flame and are never toxic but who still get low prio every couple of months due to internet/PC crash. You can't identify the real cause for their game abandonment (maybe it's just rage), but I think the punishment should still be low here. I don't have a suggestion in what order these suggestions should be applied.
Thanks for reading and sorry for ruining your games kappa nokappa
Edit: Some people got the wrong idea - I'm not smurfing to purposely ruin games or to be toxic on purpose. It 'just happens' casually. I always start a game with the goal to win, but for example if in my personal perspective 3-4 players of my team don't deserve to win (bad itemization, bad support, flaming other players, whatever) I start flaming and make us lose.
(Commends are rare in dota in my experience but I usually get 1-2 per week for playing well)

Low priority is not enough for autofeeding and feeding couriers on purpose - by xGsGt

I just played a game, we had almost a perfect draft, there was nothing wrong in chat we had courier, carry everything, and then our slark from the start just decided to feed mid bc our mid took the rune, slark dint even request the rune, he just though maybe he was entitled to it and start feeding courier, start going mid and buy all the wards and feed feed and ruining the game, he is probably going to Low Priority games but this type of behaviors are not enough for them to just go to low priority. This is getting really out of hand how easily is for others to ruin this freaking game experience. Game screenshot https://imgur.com/DE67mZC
Im getting tired of this shit, I dont understand why Valve doesnt do anything about this, this shit needs to stop.
Update 1: he just did again in his next game new guys: http://imgur.com/ilkP7Yf 1-16 with alchemist sold all his items and fed.

Reminder: Juggernaut's cosmetics look way better then they currently do! - by Venichie

When Reborn became the main client, Juggernaut got a hidden remodel that was much more polished then he used to be. Although with that change they never properly fitted all his old cosmetics to his new one.
Here's an example. Notice how the armor seems to be rapped around some invisible larger entity. This is because Juggernaut used to be slightly bigger then he currently is.
All his armor are not properly fitted to his new model. I'm posting this in hopes someone at Valve will notice this & fix him to be more kickass then he currently is. Please take another look. Hard to see, but clear in game that most of his masks don't even look like their attached to his neck. (except a few that were always to small for his older model, which fit much more nicely with the current)
EDIT: Also these leg armor pads...
RE-EDIT: Forgot to mention that all the blade particle effects are also messed up, because they have been adjusted to the new model, while the swords aren't yet.
PSA: Exactly 25 days until TI starts; if you haven't found a place to crash in Seattle, come here big boi - by stay22

Happy Wednesday boys,
As the title says, I'll be recommending you different spots you can use to find places to stay around Key Arena in Seattle for this year's International if you haven't found your stay yet. Also a lot of you strong independent dudes end up winging it and become homeless every year (why it stinks so bad suddenly) thinking it's a good idea to save on costs. Well fear not heresy, I've got you covered:
https://www.stay22.com/events/the-international-2016
I made a project last year that let's you find Hotels, Hostels (for those of you who went broke on battle pass), and short term House & Apartment rental around where events are happening. Hop to it now: TI6 Hotels and places to stay
It covers inventory from all the hotels in the world, and from numerous sites like Expedia, Booking.com, HomeAway, VRBO, etc. The only thing it does not cover unfortunately is Airbnb, which is also a great place to find a deal..so if you can't find anything I recommend checking it out here

Is it just me or has DOTA been lagging a lot more since this patch - by maestroblue

I'm running an AMD 7850 and ever since the most recent patch my DOTA has crashed through like nothing else. I'm having to lower my video settings if I want to maintain over a 60 FPS pretty significantly and when I'm streaming even if everything is at bare minimum I still fall below 30fps streaming.
Memory usage is at 50%/CPU at around the same when I'm streaming. When not s treaming CPU is at 20-35 and memory still at 50

TI6 catch-up series: OG - by EternalHue

Are you tired of being that lonely guy that enjoys the TI but has a job and life and cant keep up with the almost daily changes in the dota 2 scene? Well in this series i'll will provide you with a small recap of the teams attending the TI6, If you happened to like it leave me a small replay so i can improve and create better series. If you happen to hate it, please, dont hesitate in verbalizing your disgust, i might continue this regardless the results cuz im bored at work.
OG : The golden boys of the post Ti-5 era, what seemed to be your yearly-euro-prostack quickly became the newcomer of the pro scene and changed the way we, the scrubs, perceive the Teams. When the veteran (and beautiful) Fly and NoTail together with the talent of Cr1t, the level of Moonmeander and the almost unknown at the time 8 0 0 0 M A T C H M A K I N G P O I N T S of Miracle- stack where announced to the world many expressed their doubts about the future of the team; However, OG has shown one of the most dominance and consistent performances through the constants changes in the metagame, overcoming nerfs and adapting their playstyle the OG boys have shown that indeed, friendship overcomes everything. With less than a year after their creation they’ve became the first team in the history of dota to win two official Valve Events (Frankfurt Major and Manilla Major) now, as their training continues lets make a small recap of this 5 indivuals:
Cr1t: If you’re wondering why was Earth Spirit nerfed so hard in 4 patches in a row THIS MAN is the main reason. Playing in some teams with neutral results and being a participant of the FaceItProLeague, Cr1t was caught in the spotlight when Monkey Business (OG name before sponsors) was announced. Through the last patches after the Frankfurt Major no team seems to be able to stop what became the signature hero of Cr1t… The Earth Spirit. With an impressively aggressive and punishing playstyle Cr1t is the ideal support for OG style. If you dive, he will punish you; if you’re willing to trade, he will punish you; if you dare to stay on his lane, he will punish you; if you dare to deny a lanecreep from Miracle-, he will tp and punish you. The amount of control he provides to the team is invaluable.
Fly: This handsome krav maga teacher and proplayer began his Esports career with his old HON squad (adopted by Fnatic), when Fnatic saw the potential of the game they switch to Dota 2 and became the Friendship signature of the pro scene. However, after disappointing results through The International 4, the team part ways with each other and their future seemed unknown. However, Fly and his boy Notail move to the next powerhouse of the time, Team Secret. Despite their initial success, Zai announces leaving the team in 2014 and is followed by Notail in 2015 before the DAC. Fly move from a team to another, with his eyes looked on the Aegis of the Champions. After a disappointing performance with Col at the TI5 (9th-12th) Fly reunites with his old friend Notail to restart what took them before to the glory: A brotherhood team. The team is announced and Fly is the new captain. With overwhelming results is clear that Fly understands his team perfectly, adapting their pool to the meta swifter than any other tournament winning team, this Fella shows that he can get the best out of his teammates without hesitating.
BigDaddy/Notail: The man, the myth, the davai, the legend. The good face of dota 2 with Dendi for a long time, together with fly he was one of the former HoN Fnatic players who transition to Dota 2, despite being one of the most skilled core players he chose to go with the support role, his outstanding performance in the role soon caught the attention of the fans (he was also playing occasionally the core role for some Meepo strats). After the departure with Fnatic and later with Secret, BigDaddy moved to the infamous and loved Cloud9 squad. Despite the initial success the team began to crumble prior the TI. With a sloopy 9th-12th place it was clear that they needed a change. Through all his interactions with the community Notail keeps reminding people that overall, Dota is just a game and people should never forget that. With a smile on his face and bloodlust in his heart NoTail took the 1st position in OG. With a unique playstyle the team has twisted the game and the distribution of farm as we knew it. Notail is the kind of carry that will go at every tf with no farm. Constantly switching between mid and carry BigDaddy is the perfect example of why OG success is due to the team performance more than individual skill. Also Bigdaddy is known for being one of the most easy-going dota players (this guy is great).
MoonMeander: If you ever wonder how it would look like if your excentric pub teammate makes it pro, you should probably take a look at moon. Being a standing in HoN team Tralfamadore they manage to defeat the unstoppable Fnatic squad, settling the beginning of Moon pro career together with the Complexity HoN squad as well as his streaming career for his lovely fans. When the HoN scene began to decay Moon also switch to Dota 2 testing some teams, after being picked by Col, leaving the team and returning a few months after that, the team seemed ready for TI5. Lacking good results Moon accepted the offer to join this new stack and was in it where he could show the world his true potential. If you let moon some space, some window, any kind of opportunity to get the levels, hes pretty much done. This is the kind of guy that will get zone out of the lane the first 8 min and will destroy you in every teamfight and drop his blink dagger in front of you just to show you how educated and respectful he is.
Miracle-: Let me gave you a picture of this, its 2015, the overall pubstars (players with high mmr but no experience) are struggling and there’s seems to be no future in the pro scene for them. TI5 shuffle came in and suddenly we have W33.ha on secret and THIS GUY on a pro stack. Who is this guy? 8 0 0 0 P O I N T S? so what? Few games after he proceeds to trash every single pro player that stands in his lane. Miracle is the begging of a new era. Miracle- together with W33 had shown the pro scene the knowledge and understanding of the game that only pubstars seemed to had. Miracle-, has not only bring to reality the 9000 matchmaking points joke, but has change the way we see the pro scene, Miracle- is, undoubtly, a milestone in the history of Dota 2 and we, ladies and gentleman, are witness and complices of it.
anyways here are some other info that you might wanna know about the players: Cr1t trashing T1 teams with his Earth spirit plays EternalEnvy on Miracle's choice Notail: "Everything can work" How the team works: by MoonMeanderMoon respectful play against Secret Moonmeander trashing his bro Miracle- Miracle- reaching 9k MMR
