CDEC Newstar Cup is set to begin tonight with eight teams battling it out against each other in an attempt to qualify for the playoffs and have a shot at winning 100,000 RMB ($16,000).
The sudden influx of tournaments in China just two months prior to The International 2014, has come as a boon to the Chinese teams as they have been provided with a platform to keep peforming admirably. CDEC, popular league hosted in China, has announced an online event for their countrymen with 100,000 RMB on the line.The CDEC Newstar Cup is all set to begin tonight with both; professional and amateur teams getting a chance to showcase their skills in this event. Four teams have been directly seeded into the playoffs whilst eight teams will have to go through a qualifier in order to proceed.
These eight teams will be divided into 2 groups, wherein they will have to play against each other in a round robin format. At the end of the groupstage, 2 teams from each group will advance to the playoffs and join the invited teams in a double elimination face-off.
