Alright, what do you guys think about this feature? I for one look forward to it, as I can totally live with longer queue times, as long as I actually get the role I want instead of fighting for it every game. I feel like this may relieve a lot of stress and make game more enjoyable, plus maybe even more successfull, since everybody gets his best role (true for the enemy team as well though).

On the other side it may, depending on the limitations, hamper Dotas much famed flexibility and, depending on limitations, could be abused (e.g. queue as supp but claim mid -if thats possible-).

Let me hear your thoughts.

Thoughts on support alchemist

I've recently been spending a lot of games playing this hero support to pretty good success (65% win rate in 3.5k) and have been having a great time playing it too.

The buffs to bounty runes make this hero get items easily just from those and without taking farm from camps and lanes away from cores (if you're building an aghs for them it's worth it but I finish most games on ~3 last hits per min).

My skill build is stun first, greed second for the bounty rune multiplier, then prioritize ult > stun > acid > greed. For items I usually go phase, medallion then blink, though sometimes skip the medallion if your team doesn't do much phys or you need the extra catch potential. You can follow up with meteor, which is easy to land on the 4s stun of concoction, or start building aghs for the team, if you skip meteor and medallion you can get he first aghs at ~18m, if not skipping more like 24-26m.

I will lock in asap, partially so my team think to pick around it with stuff like zues, wr, gyro etc who all have great upgrades if gotten early, also if you lock early you can bait an AA pick, who is pretty weak into support alch, especially if you go alch-wr dual offlane, as he ends up being food for the lane and can't contest runes.

The biggest weakness to this hero is if you lose map control over the runes by 15-20 mins, so make sure your lanes are strong, he's a good hero in the laning phase himself with the stun but if your team picks too greedy and you can't secure bounty runes in midgame you feel very underwhelming.

Overall he's a really fun hero that can throw people out of their comfort zone, offers a 4s hard disable, and can empower allies better than any other hero, but I'd love to know your thoughts and suggestions.

Pudge early levelling

For the longest time, it was considered the correct play for most games to level up his slow first. Now after the latest patch, his slow is now not enough to get autoattacks in while keeping up with the enemy (unless possibly investing in a wind lace early). In addition to this, any others following getting attacks off while pudge slows is now not able to get as many auto attacks in as well early in. Could it be at a point where it is more worth while to get the raw damage and positioning advantage at level 1 (assuming you hit the hook obviously) then having the mild move speed slow, then possibly getting level 2 and 3 in rot? Just unable to determine this here recently myself, wanting some other opinions on this.

4k scrub here looking for help with building Jakiro. I've recently started to like the pos 5 role more and more and a hero I would like to spam now is Jakiro. I wonder when to build what and which skill to max in what situation. Basically:

When do I max my Q?

When do I max my W?

When do I max my E?

Should I ALWAYS skills ult level 6?

What's an okay standard item build?

When do I build specific items? (Vs which heroes and what are the items I should be building)

Avoiding certain servers at certain times?

It seems like every time I have a day off during the week and have good time for Dota, unfortunately I have to say about 80% of my games on US East are just trash, super toxic, people seem to fight against working together or the depressing one person going out of their way to make the game awful. And it seems to be between say 1PM-4PM. For example today besides having bad games, it also seemed like most of the players on my teams in multiple games didn't even speak english, speaking some kind of Asian language.

But when I play game at night, after work or sometimes early afternoon (10-11am) the games seem to go really well a majority of the time.

Is there any rhyme or reason for this? Is it just the luck of the draw? Does anyone avoid a server at certain times? Do you have alternative servers you jump to at certain times?

How to play Warlock?

I'm currently Archon 5, around 3k mmr and looking to play more support.

Recently won a game of Warlock, and found a renewed interest in the hero. I maxed W and Q and healed my carry while bonding the enemy. I went arcane boots

For Item, I went Mana boots into Aghs rush and kept pushing towers when I teamfights were won with me golem before the late game where my golems would fall off. I've been seeing ideas of Auras - Drums, Necro, Helm instead of Aghs to strengthen golems. Is this better for Warlock?

Any other tips for this hero? Thanks!

Why is Puck so bad now?

Even at higher level he's still one of the worst hero in win rate. Wasn't there a patch awhile back where he was one of the more dominant heroes? but I look at the change logs and it's more or less been nothing but buffs for awhile now.

So what happened? I get that heroes like Puck isn't in the meta right now as similar heroes like QOP also isn't doing super well. but what's the problem really?

I guess my feeling is that they're sort of burst hero without enough burst damage? also it may be just me but traditional magic damage INT heroes seems to be a weak in general right now (unless you have some sort of % skill like Zeus.) is it because INT right now is just too weak?

Thoughts?

Dear Exiles,

It is finally time to step down from the cross. After 15 months in Early Access Conan Exiles has been released on PC, Xbox and PS4. It's been quite the journey for us here at Funcom, with both highs and lows, but we're also incredibly proud of our final product.

With this launch day patch the world of Conan Exiles expands greatly with the addition of the new Swamp and volcano biomes. In the Swamp you can find the Pagoda of Boundless Lusts, where the priests and preistesses of Derketo worship their goddesses dual nature. Travel to the Forgotten City of Xel-Ha and discover the ruins of an ancient Lemurian City. Maybe you'll even meet the Witch Queen?

Braving the craggy peaks of the volcano will net you Obsidian, one of the strongest metals there is, but be careful, as the mysterious Cult of Skelos might not take too kindly to outsiders. Those who brave the depths of the volcano will be rewarded handsomly.

Launch Day Patch: Derketo, Volcano and Swamp, oh my!

Conan Exiles has finally launched! We started early access with a world map of just 15 squared kilometers. Now at full launch we've expanded to a full 40! This includes the vast dry desert, lush swamp to the east, the neutral city of Sepermeru and the gaseous Salt Lake to the west, and the molten volcano and frozen, snowy lands to the north. Whether you're a returning player or a new one, you're going to have a lot to discover in the new biomes. This includes deep and dark dungeons with treasures, forgotten ruins, monstrous creatures, and more we don't want to spoil.

Important: Remember to remove mods if you're unable to play/open the game!

Derketo
Now that launch day is here an entirely new religion will be made available to players. Derketo is the goddess of fertility and death, whose followers engage in sexualized and sometimes lethal rituals. Her dual nature makes her avatar a sight to behold: one half appearing as a beautiful woman, her body in the prime of life, while the other half is a rotting corpse and degenerated corpse.

Followers of Derketo will be able to craft a special knife, Derketo's Kiss, that extracts unfulfilled desires from fallen enemies. These Slivers of the Unfulfilled can be used to turn deadly poisons into sweet honey, or when combined with insects, made into potions that will heal wounds and enhance the endurance of whoever drinks it. As their religious devotion grows, followers of Derketo can learn how to transmute vines into bread or oil into blood, before finally learning how to make the powerful Lusttaker, a sword touched by Derketo herself.

Volcano
Towering over the Frozen North lies the mighty volcano, with molten fury pouring across jet-black slopes. Those who dare challenge the crag can harness the power of Obsidian and discover a mysterious cult worshiping an unknown, ancient power. Within the volcano itself, explore the ominous light emanating from the Well of Skelos - those who brave its depths will be rewarded handsomely. Just beware the searing hot temperatures - who knows what ancient secrets lurk within! The volcano and its encounters are balanced for the most powerful of warriors to explore.


Swamp(o)
Follow the big river east and you will find the swamp. This huge new area offers deep jungles, wet marshes and a sunny coastline filled with pirates. You can build well-protected castles or even entire cities up in the massive trees of the swamp.

There are many new monsters to fight in the swamp and lots of places to explore, from the Pagoda of Boundless Lusts to Jamilia's Liberty, a massive beached ship which the Black Hand pirates have made their home. There is also the Forgotten City of Xel-ha, the ruins of an ancient Lemurian city being devoured by the encroaching jungle and the Palace of the Witch Queen dungeon. The swamp has been made for characters between level 20 and 40.


Patch Notes

TL;DR
  • Player thralls now follow same rules as buildings for taking damage from players. Both PvE and PvE-Conflict servers will have invincible thralls.
  • Thralls should no longer fall under the ground while being dragged in singleplayer/co-op
  • Regeneration from healing potions now breaks on taking damage
  • Bandage healing now breaks on movement
  • Players now do 1% of their melee damage to buildings, this is controlled with PlayerBuildingDamageMultiplier

The Purge
  • Placeables should take same amount of damage as building pieces from players and NPCs
  • PurgeNPCBuildingDamageMultiplier server setting now uses per purge difficulty rather than server max purge value to calculate damage modifers.
  • Previously a difficulty 1 purge could use the damage modifier for a purge difficulty 5 (20x instead of 5x) if max purge level was set to 5 on the server.
  • Lower difficulty purges now deal less damage to buildings.
  • The server setting PurgeNPCBuildingDamageMultiplier can now be modified by server admins
  • New default values for "PurgeNPCBuildingDamageMultiplier = (5.0, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0, 20.0, 25.0)" where the 1st number and 6th number correspond to a difficulty 1 and 6 purge, respectively
  • Purge NPC damage modifier now based on strength of purge instead of purge max difficulty setting
  • Purge NPCs now do correct amount of damage to placeables (previously too low)

Healing Rebalance
  • Reduced the effect of the Receptive perk (Vitality 40) from +100% healing to +25% healing
  • Healing potions now take 10s to heal, increased from 5s. Total healing remains the same
  • Regeneration from healing potions now breaks on taking damage
  • Bandage healing does not break on damage and removes bleeds and cripples at the end of the effect
  • Bandage healing now breaks on movement
  • Bleeds now stack up to 20 times and lasts for 20s. Up from 10 stacks and 10 seconds. Bleed damage scaling per stack reduced
  • Removed drop from Grey Lotus Potion that overrode healing
  • Removed over-the-top healing values from the Grey Lotus Potion that overrode healing

General Balance and QoL Adjustments
  • Rebalanced the Mitra spear and Acheronian sickle
  • Slightly increased blocked rebound time for 2h spear heavy attacks
  • Slightly reduced blocker confirm time for 2h spear heavy attacks
  • Cripple effects for melee weapons have been reduced in efficiency
  • Lowered the damage of the sickles
  • Fixed issue where poison stacks could increase as it was ticking (caused by the weapon being listed as the "damage causer", which could still be poisoned)
  • Also fixes issue where poison was affected by armor penetration of the weapon that caused it
  • Fixed a problem with target lock which would sometimes move the camera behind the player character, making it difficult to see the target
  • Max elevation at which you can place buildings is now 600 meters across the map. This fixes some building exploits in the volcano area (and should not impact players unless they are reenacting "Jack and the Beanstalk" story)
  • Added support for force-checking .pak files after a major game update
  • Player thralls now follow same rules as buildings for taking damage from players. Both PvE and PvE-Conflict servers will have invincible thralls.
  • Fixed balance issues related to stacking of reaper and scorpion poison
  • Reduced the max amount of death map markers to 3, to match the amount of max corpses you can have active at the same time
  • New Funcom logo video at startup
  • Players now do correct amount of damage to placeables (previously too high)

Bugfixing
  • Fixed a player collision problem when logging into a server with the setting active to leave offline characters in the world
  • Removed unarmed attacks from human npcs and gave them stone daggers instead to avoid players being able to obtain and equip unarmed attacks which bug out their characters
  • Fixed an issue with Steam achievement unlocking
  • Fixed a text cut-off issue with "take all" button
  • Thralls should no longer fall under the ground while being dragged in singleplayer/co-op
  • Thralls no longer damage their own base
  • Time restricted PvP building damage was preventing players from damaging each other
  • Fixed player owned Thralls could be killed outside of time-restricted PvP window
  • Dragging captured thralls should no longer cause them to fall through the ground.
  • Fixed a problem with not being able to use unarmed attacks or kicks, along with unarmed fist items showing up in inventories.
  • Fixed some water and sand rendering artifacts
  • Fixed a problem with DB backups resulting in too few backups being stored
  • Fixed an issue that would make players invisible during attacks or rolls when they were on buildings
  • Vertical and diagonal support building pieces should now work correctly (Previous fix was missing a data change)
  • Fixing another issue where pillars and other socketless connection building pieces could fail to give proper stability. Please report any issues you still encounter with missing building pieces.
  • New fix for "no owner" displayed on building and placeables.
  • Exploit fix: Fixed a visual and stats issue when selecting multiple weapons at the same time
  • Jaguars should no longer defy gravity
  • NPCs should now respawn after their former selves have been converted into a thrall
  • Admin teleport while a player is in character creation should no longer block character creation from finishing
  • Extra support to vertical and diagonal support building pieces has been reduced.

Crash Fixes and Optimizations
  • On singleplayer if you chain-crash 5 times while loading into the game then on 6th try you will be teleported to the desert
  • Fixed a crash related to making an item in a story-related altar
  • Fixed a server crash related to loading of clan logs
  • Fixed a crash related to double-clicking items in slots
  • Fix to make javelins have DM's and not icons wrongly assigned, thus crashing the server
  • Fixed a crash related to removing items from slots
  • Fixed a crash related to RCON
  • Fixed a crash related to accessing the purge on game shutdown
  • Fixed a crash related to modified damage from players and NPCs
  • Fixed a crash in the purge system for new players who don't do anything to register any purge events
  • Fixed a server crash related to display racks.
  • Added a potential fix from Epic for "device lost" crashes

Known Issues
  • Blunted javelin does too much concussion damage. This will be fixed in the next patch
  • Elixir effects will be cancelled if you use a healing potion. This will be fixed in the next patch
  • Clothing & hair physics may sometimes stop working on the player character
  • If you are experiencing a "D3D device error" when launching the game then please try to clock down your gfx card by 100 or 200 MHz, especially if you have a factory overclocked gfx card.
  • Emote books to learn "spit" and "fistpunch" are underground.

Patch 8.11 "Stormrazor" seems like a balancing nightmare.

Stormrazor (edit: 3400 gold or 3200. Not sure for current PBE version)

(B.F. Sword + Pickaxe + Dagger)

+Attack Damage = 65 AD

+Attack Speed = 25%

UNIQUE Passive: If you haven't attacked recently, your next basic attack will critically strike (edit: You only have to wait 2.5 seconds).

UNIQUE Passive: When you critically strike, gain a short burst of attack speed and movement speed (edit: 25% AS | 8% MS for 1.5 seconds).


Not sure if this item is intended for ADC's to have a slight edge in late teamfights, but Rengar / Kha'Zix is going to absolutely ravage ADC's and mid with this item as soon as they make it early. Isn't this pretty much a stronger Duskblade?

Rengar can just ult, get the guaranteed crit, then probably just finish the job with a Q. Now if he has Stormrazor AND Duskblade, it's just going to make the game not fun for whoever Rengar feels like bullying. As the game goes on and Rengar gets the new Infinity Edge, he's literally going to 1 shot people again. It's bad enough that all ADC's are essentially getting nerfed for the first ~half of the game in patch 8.11.

Now this item is certainly going to be fun, but it's not really healthy for the game. It will only be good on a handful of champions, but it's so exceptional on those select few that it seems to already be doomed to be in a pointless cycle of nerfs and buffs and then ultimately a rework.

It also doesn't seem to really be intended for ADCs, as they are constantly attacking minions and never really saving up that 1st attack for a juicy crit. It would be fun seeing an ADC gank for the crit shot, but again that's unhealthy for the game because it highly encourages losing CS for a potential kill as the ADC.

Of course this is speculation, but usually niche items like this end up not being used at all, or being extremely overpowered on a couple of champions (consequently just having the item reworked).

Edit: As many have pointed out, GP will be one of, if not THE biggest beneficiaries of this item. His Q will critically strike every time, meaning barrels are even scarier now.

*Edit 2: As I'm learning more stats there are many things I want to adjust or edit in my original post (such as the IE being more optimal for one shot than another high damage item), but I'm just going to leave it all in there for clarity for others as they read the comments. I still stand by that an item like this has high potential to cause terrible balancing issues and will likely be changed.

I met a nice Yasuo

It was your average Sunday night, I was struggling between going to bed as I should or queue up for another game and end on a victory. I was a conquerer/ignite Fiora player and against a Yasuo top. For the first time I didn't regret queing for "one more game". Like you would expect, I had first blood in 4 minutes parrying his tornado and I was expecting "runs ignite noob" or "broken champ" but instead Yasuo in all chat, "wow that was cool, I didn't know you could do that!" I stopped dancing on his body and backed. By 15 min I had killed him 4 more times solo and double killed him and his Nidalee Jg the 5th. He wasn't inting, he played as best as could be expected from a gold 5 Yasuo. I knew what was happening tho, I typed in all chat "You're probably being flamed like hell" and before he could even respond his teammates starting saying in all chat "boosted yasuo" , "shoulda dodged" , "0/5/0" they went on and on..he didn't say anything at all, he didn't AFK either. He just came to lane and farmed. His teammates still kept flaming at him in all chat which kinda pissed me off. If they were flaming him for his KDA and stats..we were gonna make sure he ends up with the best ones. We made a deal where only the Braum on our team could attack Yasuo, no one else could touch him. We told him this and I let him solo farm top for some time. Instead of ending we repeatedly killed all his teammates while inflating his KDA..tbh it was hilarious watching Braum catch him and kill him. In the end he had 80% of his teams kills and we lost baron. They came back and after our last team fight Yasuo could have ended the game but he came to our base and started playing his Flute. His team spamming ? In all chat. He then stayed right next to me and helped my team secure elder drag and played the flute near us as we ended. He typed in chat, neither me nor my team deserves to win. Thank you for making me enjoy this game. He gifted me pool party Fiora. For me, this is the Yasuo that is no longer Unforgiven.

Marc 'Tryndamere' Merill added me in-game

So, a few days ago I was hopping on to play a solo-q match while waiting for some friends to finish their games up and as I joined in the lobby I saw the well known name of 'Tryndamere.' At first, I was impressed that someone had that name but I was quickly told by my friends that that is Marc Merill's name which led me to be pretty excited. I ended up saying hey and he said hi back (pretty cool right?) Well we ended up losing the game as my team flamed the co-founder of Riot games, but I stuck by his side and gave him a few words of encouragement and a few smiley faces. After the game I sent him a friend request as just a 'fuck it, what could go wrong' kind of moment. Well I get on today and I was looking for a friend and sure enough 'Tryndamere' is on my friends list. So to sum up, I don't know why Marc Merill added me and I'm not sure if I should talk to him to maybe make a friendship or just bask in the glory of having some random prodigy millionaire programmer add you.

TLDR: Joined a game with Marc 'Tryndamere' Merill and he added me back after. What do I do?

While playing against a Skarner and enjoying his fun and interactive ultimate, I thought back to my younger days where I would be similarly stuck in a game of monopoly. So, why not combine these two amazing experiences?

 

Monopoly (Man?) Skarner!

Passive: Skarner claims properties across Summoner's Rift, upgrading his houses into hotels so if anyone lands on his boardwalk he gets those sweet damage bonuses and loses a friendship or two

Q: Stock-broker Skarner slashes his money-grubbing claws back and forth, grabbing up more gold from his taxed laners and letting loose bills fly everywhere

W: Laissez-faire Skarner usually wears a nice suit to show his sophistication but will turn into a literal metal car board piece to go faster

E: Enterprising Skarner throws out the GO arrow from monopoly and much like in the board game slows down the whole game

R: Capitalist Skarner suppresses an enemy's will to keep playing by turning them into a monopoly board piece
