Let's talk about climbing MMR when you aren't pos 1/2 Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:44 AM PDT I think anyone who has gone through videos, threads and guides about MMR climbing has seen a bunch of tips & tricks to winning games and increasing MMR as a mid/safe lane core. i.e. Farming faster than your enemy core/snowballing from the laning stage. While I do love to play pos 1 or 2, there are times when I think it's more feasible to give up these positions to other pub players for fear of the toxicity and flaming that happens before the game even starts. So I think there are individuals (such as myself) who are interested in knowing how to win pub games or to have a higher impact through pos 3/4/5 in the 1-4k MMR range. What heroes to use, what items to get, the mindset behind playing such games. Would love to know if there are smurfs who play such roles in the lower skill brackets with optimal results and to share the methodology behind it. [link] [comments] |
who are the most underrated heroes and why? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 01:25 AM PDT |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 03:06 PM PDT Hello, I have a qustion. In couple of my games when I had PL on my team they were complaining about enemy heroes always targeting the real one. One time he was playing vs Enchantress and she would always hit the real one with impetus despite numberous illusions surrounding the real one. Other time it was Skyrawth that would always hit the real one with atos w/o using Concussive Shot first followed by other spells causing PL to die. [link] [comments] |
With the dual lanes meta, what are some good offlane combos? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 06:01 AM PDT Something like the Dark Willow + Wraith King lane that was very popular at TI. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:23 PM PDT I'm fucking sick of playing spec/ursa. I'm looking at TB, Ive seen Ramzes/Aloha playing it a fair bit, what do you guys think of him? How are you playing him with success. Just calibrated ancient 3 after travelling and not playing dota for a while, so not like I have to worry about enemy team doing anything good/playing around my hero since they'll be fighting with eachother. I've been gone for 3 months, what did I miss? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:12 PM PDT Alright, so I watched the finals of the International but I don't feel like that was enough to get a feel of the meta. I would like a small summary of the TI meta. So, for example, what heroes where most banned/picked (and why) and what strategies where most popular/successful. I know there came a new patch a week ago but I'm more interested in what the ti meta was since no one can possibly know how the new meta will turn out. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 11:51 AM PDT I just pick the hero and then end, it wins me games but its not fun. Is this just the general nature of the hero? There seems to be nothing exciting about him. Ancient 4 if it matters. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 02:20 PM PDT I don't rage quit. I often have to leave because of an emergency that I can't foresee. I am not a retard. I don't que for a match when I don't think I have the guaranteed time. I know I have 1 free abandon, but around once or twice every 2 months an unfortunate string of events will lead to me having to abandon twice in a short period of time. I would be fine with this if LP wasn't so hard and cancerous. Yes, I know that LP is MEANT to be hard and cancerous, so people are discouraged from being sent there. Regardless of this, the fact that you have to win AND it's single draft is too difficult. Some games are decided simply because you got 3 heroes you don't know how to play, or the enemy brood spammer got brood and you don't have any way to counter him. I honestly would be fine with double the amount of games but you not needing to win them. I would be done faster in that system. This was a rant, and I apologize if I said anything stupid because I am very angry right now, so my thoughts are clouded. Regardless, I still stand by what I say. I have had games where I reported someone for ruining the game. At the time I would hope they end up in this bullshit LP system and suffer it, but now I have realized that this is too much. Lots of people have bad games or bad days. There might be something in their life affecting them. If, after calming down and trying to play dota positively the guy I reported gets thrown into this hot pile of LP trash I don't blame them for coming out of it angry. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 10:01 AM PDT Title says it. I've got a 65% winrate on mid MK in the past 25 games with a few rampages. I know the hero isn't super great rn, epec at mid, but I play him really well for my bracket and can stomp. My build is usually: Starting items: Shield, quelling blade, slippers & two pooled tangos. Then: Aqui Wand Phase Boots/Treads depending on if I need to kite Echo Saber Maelestrom BKB Deso/Shadow Blade Skadi/Butterfly/Abyssal/other end-game items I'm wondering when to get other midgame items instead of maelestrom/deso. Like what about S&Y, diffusal, etc. Should you always go Echo? Should you skip Maelstrom? Ana and Topson p much always go Maelestrom so I feel like that's the build now but I'm a Archon scrub, so help me out! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:56 AM PDT Making this post to make sure i'm not crazy, but does manta doesn't dispel things like heaven's halberd and slardar's ult anymore? i was pretty sure a couple of weeks ago it could and i didn't find anything about it in the patch notes. [link] [comments] |
Why do players in higher ranked pubs spam the scoreboard? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 05:13 PM PDT If I switch to player perspective some players are constantly tapping the scoreboard button. I could probably understand if you were playing mid and you wanted to know what level the supports are at so you could potentially predict a gank, but sometimes I'll even see the carry do it while they're farming with ward vision up. Is there a specific reason why they do it or is it just out of boredom? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:38 AM PDT How do you deal with bad matchups, especially axe mid? I've decided to play him a lot recently and while I understand how to micro the hero and farm as fast as possible, I've had 2 games where a last pick axe mid has just destroyed my game. My approach has generally been to forget mid and just burst down the wave then jungle, avoiding him altogether but even then, unless I significantly outfarm him, a quick blink like he'll achieve mid just makes it impossible to farm safely. How do you deal with bad matchups when you're unable to last pick? [link] [comments] |
How do you itemise + not steal farm as a support Nature's Prophet? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 06:09 PM PDT I love pushing heroes, and in the event that I play support I like NP. However, I am a bit confused on his farm priority if my team doesn't draft other support heroes, and have a couple of questions for you NP players. For instance: - In my bracket (Crusader), much of the farm goes unused. Do I leave this farm in hopes that my carries utilise it correctly, or farm a fast Maelstrom to push waves faster? - I tend to buy lots of wards, using my W to place deep wards around objectives. I try to recoup my monetary losses with my ult, but is that considered stealing farm from my team? - Is there an optimal time to use my ult? I have been using it as soon as it's off CD, to push waves around the map as I TP back and forth between lanes.
I want to take objectives ASAP, but I also don't want to hinder my own team's farm. Thanks guys [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2018 06:44 PM PDT I'm still trying to learn how to play the game. How do I tell if a ward I place is helpful? [link] [comments] |
