RuneScape Rant Wednesday - 05 September

Rant Wednesday - 05 September

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 05:12 PM PDT

Rant Wednesday is a monthly thread for exactly what you might think it's for. Rant, vent, complain, comment, speak your mind and air your grievances with anything concerning RuneScape, Jagex, or even the subreddit itself! This is your time to get whatever you want off your chest, so make it count!

You might find that having constructive elements to your comment be received and embraced better by others, but it is by no means required. Think of "keep it constructive" more as a suggestion, than a requirement. The only real requirement is that you follow our subreddit rules, which includes no personal attacks, personally identifiable information, harassement, or anything that can be reasonably considered excessive.

Have fun, and (try to) play nice!

Weekly reminder on behalf of RS rangers

Posted: 05 Sep 2018 12:18 AM PDT

Fix below please:

  • Sirenic armour colours and dyes
  • SGB special size and death swiftness benefit
  • SGB obsoleteness
  • Underwhelming dmg of 2h weapons
  • Mutated dazing shot (puncture) duration
  • Augmentable Elite Death Lotus Darts and Crystal Chakrams
  • Quiver to hold arrows and bolts at the same time

Suggestions:

  • Add simple Archer armour overrides (hoods, quivers, shoulder capes - not spiky omegalul things)
  • Consider affinity debuff
  • Add quiver overrides

The situation on my farm at the moment

Posted: 05 Sep 2018 05:26 AM PDT

It has been 625 days since the release of Sliske's Endgame which is the longest time ever between Grandmaster quests, followed by Nomad's Requiem which was released 411 days after While Guthix Sleeps

Add a permanent buyer for animals on the farm!

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 09:54 PM PDT

I was hoping this would be the case on release.

The way it would work is that the permanent buyer buys all and every animal species at a reduced percentage of their value when compared to the daily buyers. Even a 50% reduction would be enough. Beans currently feel like just another chore to remember for daily and the only way to get them is from the traders.

As it is now, there is virtually no point in interacting with the farm once you have whatever animals you need to complete your daily quota, unless you are looking to raise and breed babies. However, both checking bought/caught animals and breeding often leads to offspring with undesired traits. You can't really do anything with these and all they do is take up bank space as you wait to sell them or you have to just release them. This feels like such a waste of time, especially if release.

I am currently going for breeding a shiny rabbit, and as rabbits reproduce very quickly, I am left with dozens of them that are useless. If this is how it is going to be if I try to complete the breeding log, then I would be forced to buy bank boosters, and even then it wouldn't be enough.

I'm open to other suggestions or thoughts.

Please allow PoF animals to become "ready to breed" when standing in any pen. When two "ready" animals are placed in the breeding pen they breed in 5-30min instead of multiple days.

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 09:00 PM PDT

Animals should have a "ready to breed" stat that turns to "ready" when standing in any pen. This would take the same amount of time as breeding currently takes. When two "ready" animals are put in the breeding pet they will breed within minutes and they will both be "unready" after that after that.

So for example when raising a new animal the steps to breeding would be:

  1. Place it in a holding pen until its adolescent.
  2. Wait for it to become "ready". This would take the same amount of time and random rolls as current breeding in the breeding pen takes. This could take several days for high level animals.
  3. Move the animal into the breading pen together with a "ready" mate.
  4. Wait for 5-30mins for the animals to breed.
  5. Move the animals back to the holding pens until they become "ready" again. You can also simply leave them in the breeding pen and they will also become "ready" and breed automatically.

The are problems this will fix:

  • Everything right now is time gated behind this single breeding pen. When trying to breed a couple of cows you can not progress with the rest of the farm for multiple days. This will become way worse when people start breeding high level animals.

  • The holding pens are largely useless now as the input of new animals from breeding is much much slower than the rate of animals becoming adolescent even for a single pen. There are 6 holding pens.

  • When people start having adolescent dragons the best strategy will be to have them in the breeding pen 24/7 and you will no longer be able to breed other animals.

  • This would actually allow you to try and get certain traits and improve animals without shutting down the rest of the farm.

  • With what i understand of the PoF code this would be a relatively simple update and would get around all the edge cases of allowing breeding in any pen.

What I think of whenever I see a thread about POF

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:08 PM PDT

I personally like POF

This update has received its fair share of criticism, but I feel like some of it is misplaced. Sure, some things could have been thought through a little harder (having to use pvm to get eggs). However, lots of you are saying you don't know what to do on the farm. Damn right you don't... and you shouldn't. It's your first day on the job dealing with something you have next to no experience with!

People complain that updates are too scripted and spoon fed to us... but now that we actually have to learn things on our own instead of being told what to do at every point in time, you complain about that too. I like that we are having to experiment to find the best ways to do things. Sure, maybe it takes more time but this is an update that's supposed to have an affect on the game for years to come.

As an added bonus, the fact that we have to figure things out by ourselves means that the community comes together more. We have to communicate and teach each other how to do things rather than watching videos or livestreams 24/7. It brings me back to the old days... and hopefully the community comes together to help each other out.

Not saying there aren't tweaks to be made, but I think some of the community are focusing too much on the negatives.
