Ian from forgotten weapons has finally done a video on the weapon that inspired the sniper rifle we saw in the early halo games.

PSA: Matchmaking is now working for every region.

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 07:24 PM PDT

As we all know, the update released earlier today didn't quite work.

However, about an hour ago, 343i changed the search parameters, and I've been able to find matches for the first time since last week.

It does take a while to find matches (2-3 minutes, in my experience) but it does find them.

So, people from Oceania, Asia, South America.. Go try it out!

I miss the exaggerated physics of Halo 1 & 2

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:15 AM PDT

Starting with Halo 3 and onwards, I always felt there was something missing from the games that the first two had, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it at the time of release. Playing through the MCC now, I think I figured it out. Halo 1 and 2 have exaggerated physics where weapons on map will fly away 30 feet from an explosion, and where dropping the flag is more like tossing it on the moon.

In the first two games you could strategically place a grenade to launch a power weapon towards you. Was it realistic? Hell no, but it was different and no other games at the time or since (even its own series) have had physics quite like that. With the weightless flags and other objective items, you could toss them across gaps or pass them to teammates and come up with some really creative strats on offense. Games could end quickly as a result, sure, but that was kind of the fun of it for me; the game rewarded smart plays and punished poor ones.

With Halo 3 and its successors, everything is more weighted and I feel like that uniqueness and possibility of creativity isn't there to nearly the same extent. You can't toss the flag anymore, yeah there's flag juggling but that's not the same. Weapons don't really fly across the map anymore. Everything is more limited and the wackiness of early Halo isn't really there. I will commend Halo 4 for letting you pass the ball to teammates in Oddball, kinda feels like a revival of the tossing from the earlier games.

You can say that I'm just being nostalgic and the old physics weren't good for the game or players on defense, and I guess that's fair. But I'm playing through the games now, and when I lose in Halo 2 CTF because of some really smart tossing plays from the opposing team, I never think it's unfair. I remember so I can try it for myself next time. Everyone has the potential to utilize the physics, and if you understand the game enough to do that shouldn't it be rewarding? Well, that's just my thought.

Just beat HCE on legendary and going to start H2, if I make through without breaking any controllers or walls I will consider it a success.

H2A and H2C Massive lag nearly every game?

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 01:02 PM PDT

Anyone else experiencing the nasty lag in these 2 games for MP? GIG internet with 100MB Up, 33 Ping to US Central server, but every game of either H2A or H2C I just get nasty lag. For the most part I still perform well but I just notice when I toss a nade it does the animation and then the grenade flys after the animation is over. I also notice when hitting a Headshot with a sniper, I get the kill but it takes them a second after the shot hits to die. Also have noticed several instances of sniper trails coming through walls to kill me as if my body was exposed on their screen but in mine I was deep into cover.

Anyone else or is this just my case. What ever happened to "we are bringing in dedicated servers"? I get host migrations all the time.

Resuming MCC causes total system crash

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:11 PM PDT

Is anybody else experiencing this bug? Whenever I resume the mcc from an idle state like right after I turn on my Xbox (i have instant on active) it causes the whole console to crash as if I pressed and held the power button for three seconds.

Do any of the Halo games still have online Grifball?

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 11:59 PM PDT

Last month I got on Halo 5 and noticed they got rid of grifball from their multi-player. Now I just recently downloaded The Master Chief collection and was wondering if any of the available games on there have grifball. I've been wanting to play it online again.

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What even are the H3 Doubles settings?

Radar on? Oddball on Pit? Bubbles and Regen Fields? Rockets with 4 shots? And this is supposed to be ranked?

Your playlist and settings management remains garbage 343, despite all the feedback you received.

Unfavorable Opinion: Halo MCC should condense the playlists (again)

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 03:27 AM PDT

When it comes to a game that is several years old with probably a few hundred or a mere thousand playing it, having 14 selections thins the populations to the point where connections, search times, and experiences will dwindle. As such, 343 needs to keep the selections simple:

  1. Slayer (Mixture of modes with different starting weapons); --If Rumble Pit is unsuccessful, merge it with Slayer--
  2. Rumble Pit (various modes like Slayer, Juggernaut, Territories, etc).
  3. SWAT
  4. Objective (Featuring CTF, Oddball, King of the Hill, Territories/Dominion, and more)
  5. Big Team
  6. Action Sack (consisting of FUN modes i.e. Grifball, Soccer, Rocket Race, and more)
  7. Infection (Also featuring Flood and more)
  8. Weekend mode
