True Dota 2 - Is solo offlane dead?

Is solo offlane dead?

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 09:13 AM PDT

Ever since the change to deny exp, it feels impossible to solo offlane now. It used to be for heroes that needed lvls and not gold dependent. But even if you never die once and stay within exp range all lane, if they deny 1 or 2 ranged creeps(which is almost bound to happen), you're now in a 2v1 with both heroes outleveling you.

TA vs Ember mid lane match-up in 7.19

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 12:44 PM PDT

Hey guys, this is known as one of the most volatile mid match-ups that can snowball in either direction. I played it a couple of times with a student, switching heroes and sides, and made a video on what to look out for from both perspectives, hope you find it useful!

When to Buy Drums on Venge

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 03:00 PM PDT

Hi all,

My mate just started learning Venge (pos 5) and drums is listed as a core item on the guide. Neither of of us have really encountered drums before and I was wondering if you guys could explain why it is good on Venge, what it is used for, and when it is/isn't the appropriate item to buy.

Also, what item should you buy if it goes late and you want to transition into more of a carry Venge? And when should you buy aghs?

Thanks for the help

Clinkz vs Bloodseeker mid at 5k+ mmr

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 07:58 AM PDT

Is this matchup actually clinkz or bloodseeker favored at 5k+ mmr assuming I have an average amount of thirst buff?

Seeing a lot of clinkz smurfs at this mmr where I lose the lane pretty heavily without supports helping because he zones me out early on before I have some levels in thirst and by using strafe to deal massive damage when I go close for a lasthit.

What can I do if I am limited on playing time?

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 03:20 AM PDT

Hello,

First of all I would like to start off by saying that I am 15 years old and I get limited playing time for dota by my parents. On weekdays, I can only play an hour of dota each day and my parents will cut the internet. On the weekend, my parents wont even give me enough time to play battle cup (one time I had to abandon a grand final game cri). Sometimes when I am playing with my friends my parents will shut off my pc anyway and my friends always flame me for abandoning games. I tried to explain to my parents that if I abandon games, my behavior score drops and I will get sent to LP. They just dont seem to give a shit however many times I try to convince them. This has been going on for about 2 years now. I am getting all As in school, I play sports and I maintain a healthy weight so I don't know what their reasoning is. They said it affects my brain if I play video games for too long but I don't think this is true. Im not trying to go pro or anything of the sort (only 2.8k mmr) but I am trying to get better at the game but I dont think I can when I can only play 1 or 2 games a day (somedays my parents are tilted about something at work and I dont get to play at all). Can anyone share any thoughts on how I can get some more playing time.

Here's my dotabuff if it helps at all: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/297095321

Edit: Wow thanks for all of your responses. It really helps and I will try to use some of these ideas in the future. Thanks again redditors ;)

Glyph usage in the laning stage

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 01:21 PM PDT

During The Summit there was a clip where ccnc was explaining how he won mid against meepo by preventing poof lasthits via glyph.

Since then I've been wondering, what exactly are the different ways to gain an advantage with glyph while laning? In mid as well as the sidelanes and if it's even worth using in the sidelanes when it could screw up your mid?

Why would you ever pick Lina instead of Windranger?

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 11:19 AM PDT

They have a similar kit in terms of nukes, stuns, attack speed buffs, and movement speed/escape.

Lina's stun is hard to land, she requires a large mana pool to come online. Eul's fixes both of these, but isn't required on wind in any way. Wind is ready to go early, and can start building more immediately effective items.

Wind's attack speed buff is single target, but much faster, and better at getting a kill on a moving unit. She has windrun to catch up to enemies or escape.

Lina's ulti is huge damage, but wind can challenge that via right-click during ult, while being safer, and able to move around a fight.

What do you think...

Beating sniper in mid lane

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 05:11 AM PDT

So I play predominantly mid at legend 3 bracket, and I've been having problems with enemy mid snipers.

How do you beat this hero in lane? What heroes beat him?

Lately I've just been picking invoker and going quas wex build which survives the lane ok but i lose on CS early

Any help appreciated :)

casual/value null talisman on strength heroes?

Posted: 02 Aug 2018 04:16 AM PDT

I've seen this on front page games on heroes like spirit breaker, wraith king, earthshaker, chaos knight, not to build into veil, and always just one. I don't understand why.

Is it worth learning invoker right now?

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:36 PM PDT

Title.

Invoker has always been a hero I enjoyed. I like playing high skill cap heroes in which pure mechanical skill can win you the game. I'm not a big fan of micro (minion control) but I do like invoker's greedy playstyle as I'm a greedy player. Anyhow, currently I am not that good with invo, but I know his spell combos and can invoke stuff decently fast. For a long time I have been wanting to spam/one trick this hero for like 50 games and become really good with him. The reason I haven't done it is because he isn't that good these patches and it's hard to carry a game on your own, no matter how good you are. It seems to me that investing the time into invo will not give back the mmr that I would get by investing in another hero. This is what has put me off. I am Legend (3.1k). Am I placing too much weight on his viability or am I right in my cautiousness to spam this hero.

Thanks in advance.

Unfavorable mid matchups

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:26 PM PDT

What do you generally do in bad mid matchups where one of the heroes can just deny every single creep or force a kill on you when your hero is bad at jungling?

Example here would be ta vs zeus mid, where she gains a level advantage from denying most creeps with refraction and being able to solokill you at lvl 6 with the traps.

Assuming that my supports are busy in the other lanes and can't help me out, do I just jungle anyways albeit slowly or try getting kills in my sidelanes as a level 4 zeus?
