gg.bet is a scam

Posted: 18 Aug 2018 09:37 AM PDT

Hi /r/Dota! I've created this thread in order to advise you guys to never give any money to gg.bet and stay away from them as they are pure scammers.

I've added 20 euros to my account two days ago and bet like 5 on TNC to win their second game against VP, basically tripled my money over the next hour only to lose a bit and go back to 40. I go ahead, attempt to withdraw and wait for my request to be processed only to find out right now that my user is blocked.

I go ahead and call them at the number shown on their website and they say they blocked my account because there are multiple ones created by me while their rules allow for only one. Obvious lie, I tell them and insist that I've never had another account created and demand that they provide the email adresses under which those other accounts were created. The girl on the phone, Tina, basically stonewalled me from the get-go and kept going with "you have multiple accounts and we have all the proof we need to block your user". They've done something similar to my friend Ionvas2a while ago.

Stay away from gg.bet guys

Why did rtz get so much less gold than miracle?

Posted: 18 Aug 2018 05:41 AM PDT

I was watching a video from this post and there RTZ by killing clinkz first got 475 gold (his reliable gold in the replay went from 680 to 1155) and Miracle by killing RTZ second got 1096 gold (292 -> 1388). Now rtz had streak and miracle did not but according to this gamepedia article wicked sick streak amounts only to 300 gold.

So I decided to perform some calculations. Using the formula from gamepedia article above: Gold Recieved = Kill gold + Aoe gold.

Gold Recieved = 110 + streak value + (killed hero level × 8) + (126 + 4.5 × killed hero level + (killed hero net worth × 0.026 + 70) ) × NetWorthPoorFactor × NetWorthRankingFactor.

First we calculate for miracle. Rtz kills miracle first and that gives him Wicked Sick streak with value of 300. After miracle dying rtz actually got to a level 17. Rtz net worth is 9666 after the fight (he got some reliable and lost some unreliable gold). He is second in net worth in his team which means NetWorthPoorFactor is 1.05. This was 1 on 1 so NetWorthRankingFactor = 1.

110 + 300 + (17 × 8) + (126 + 4.5 × 17 + (9666 × 0.026 + 70) ) × 1.05 × 1 = 546 + 550 = 1096 . Which is what miracle got in the game.

Lets now calculate for arteezy. Miracle is not on streak so streak value is 0. Miracle is level 16. Miracles net worth is 10837 - 260 unreliable gold he lost by dying = 10577 . He is top 1 net worth in his team which means NetWorthPoorFactor is 1.2. The NetWorthRankingFactor is again 1.

110 + 0 + (16 × 8) + (126 + 4.5 × 16 + (10577 × 0.026 + 70) ) × 1.2 = 238 + 651.6 = 889.6 which is way different from 475 he got in game.

The questions are. Is this a bug? If not then what is the explanation to this? And where did value 475 come from? Is the formula on gamepedia wrong? Are my calculations wrong? If anyone have any ideas about this please share since it looks like a pretty big deal for me.

EDIT: Apologies to everyone, it seems the formula from gamepedia was indeed misleading. As u/F1reLi0n pointed out, the seemingly correct formula can be found at https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Gold . If you account for EG having more money than Liquid at that moment than RTZ should indeed get 110 + 0 + (16 × 8) + (126 + 4.5 × 16) = 475 gold.

Edit 2: Also updated a gamepedia page

The International 8 Day 3 Summary

Posted: 17 Aug 2018 08:31 PM PDT

Hi friends, another day of grueling Group Stages has wrapped up and there were some incredible games. The groups start to thin out with some teams on the brink of elimination and teams already securing Upper Bracket spots. Without further ado, here is how Day 3 unraveled:

Games of the Day:

  • TNC Predator v VGJ Storm - Game 1 (Resolution Void)
  • Vici Gaming v paiN Gaming - Game 1 (Rollercoaster Dota)
  • Invictus Gaming v OG - Game 1 (Comeback Gaming)
  • Team Secret v OpTic Gaming - Whole Series (Battle of the Bottom)
  • Newbee v VGJ Storm - Game 2 (Sccc Invoker)
  • TNC Predator v Team Serenity - Game 2 (Insane Game)
  • paiN Gaming v Virtus.pro - Game 2 (Tavo Pangolier)
  • Evil Geniuses v Team Liquid - Whole Series (Battle of the Giants & Miracle- Invoker) - Seriously though, if you're going to watch any game from today watch this series.
  • Invictus Gaming v PSG.LGD - Game 2 (Comeback Gaming)

My Moment(s) of the Day:

The International 8 Day 1 Summary

The International 8 Day 2 Summary

Group A

Final Standings of Day 3:

Standing Team Score Points Games
1 Team Liquid 11-3 11 14
2 Evil Geniuses 11-3 11 14
3 PSG.LGD 9-5 9 14
4 OG 8-6 8 14
5 Fnatic 7-7 7 14
6 VGJ Thunder 6-8 6 14
7 Mineski 5-9 5 14
8 Invictus Gaming 4-12 4 16
9 Winstrike Team 3-11 3 14

Notes:

  • Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid are the first teams from Group A to secure spots in the Upper Bracket for the Main Event

  • Winstrike are in the riskiest spot heading into Day 4 but IG are still in arms reach of elimination depending on how Day 4 goes.

  • Evil Geniuses start their day off by destroying Winstrike in two very convincing games which book them a spot into the Upper Bracket. Their performance over the past 3 days silences anyone (including Punks) who doubted them as their teamplay and confidence is looking top-tier. Their series with TI7 defending Champions, Team Liquid, was easily the most entertaining series despite EG losing both games to them. An incredible display of the highest level of Dota from both teams. EG finish their day with a score of 11-3.

  • Team Liquid brushed off their previous day's loss to IG by decimating Mineski in two very clean games. Play time is over for last year's winners as they continue their streak by crushing Winstrike in under an hour for the entire series. Their final series of the day was against group leaders EG and it was easily the best series of the day. Amazing top-shelf gameplay and mindgames from both teams. Both teams put on an incredible show but Kuroky and the boys take the series 2:0 and finish their day with a score of 11-3 leading Group A ahead of EG.

  • PSG.LGD play two series today starting with a clean sweep over Fnatic in two quick games managing to trump Fnatic's Brood and Timbersaw. Their second series against IG started with a back-and-forth grind in Game 1 until PSG.LGD exploded ahead at the 30 minute mark securing the game not too long after that. Their second game was a slow grinding comeback but eventually took the winner over TI2 winners, IG. PSG.LGD finish their day with a score of 9-5.

  • OG start their day off decently with a drawn series with Fnatic however they followed that up by dealing with IG in two games on the back of N0tail's Silencer and ana's great Phantom Lancer performance in Game 2. They polished their day off with a great first game against VGJT on the back of an ana Spectre and crushed them in a second game in under 20 minutes. They have a lot of momentum going into their final day where they have a shot at securing an Upper Bracket spot despite starting Group Stages near the bottom of their group. They finish their day with a score of 8-6.

  • Fnatic had a rough start to the day drawing their series with OG and losing their crucial series against PSG.LGD however they managed to claw back some important points by winning their first game against CIS underdogs Winstrike but drop their second games to Iceberg's incredible Nevermore play and nongrata's destructive Pugna. Fnatic finish their day with score of 7-7.

  • VGJ Thunder easily had their best day so far demolishing Invictus Gaming 2:0 and clawing back a game from Mineski after an hour long battle in Game 1. Their final series of the day seemed to be out of control as OG took aim at VGJT's morale by coming back in a 50 minute bloodbath and destroying them in under 20 minutes in game 2. Despite these results, VGJT are most likely safe from elimination finishing their day with a score of 6-8.

  • Mineski had a rough day today only managing to score 1 game from VGJT from a total of 4 games for Day 3. They were put into the ground by Liquid at the start of the day in two very quick games. They manage to scrape a long enduring game from VGJT only to drop their second game to them. If it weren't for Winstrike's poor performance, they would be in a much dire spot. Mineski finish their day with a score of 5-9.

  • Invictus Gaming continues their poor performances from the previous day not carrying any momentum from their first day where they managed to grab a game from group leaders Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid. Both IG and Winstrike are on the precipice of elimination. IG dropped all their games against VGJT and OG and PSG.LGD which puts them in a spot similar to Winstrike. They finish their day with a score of 4-12. IG have played all their games and rely on the results of other teams in the group to decide whether or not IG stay or go home - namely Winstrike's final series against OG.

  • Winstrike Team morale has taken a massive hit. With their only wins being from Day 1 against IG, they have been repeatedly swept by every team in their group. Losing to both EG and Liquid will mean that they're the team most likely to be eliminated. However they didn't let this affect their morale as they finished their day with a convincing game against Fnatic despite losing the first game to them. Iceberg's squad finish their day with a score of 3-11 and are hanging onto their tournament life going into Day 4.

Best Team Performances of the Day:

Standing Team Score Games Winrate
1 Team Liquid 6-0 6 100%
2 PSG.LGD 4-0 4 100%
3 OG 5-1 6 83.33%
4 VGJ Thunder 3-3 6 50%
5 Evil Geniuses 2-2 4 50%
6 Fnatic 2-4 6 33.33%
7 Mineski 1-3 4 25%
8 Winstrike Team 1-5 6 16.67%
9 Invictus Gaming 0-6 6 0%

Team Liquid shake off any doubt by winning all their games today and with an average game time of 32 minutes. Since they 2:0'd EG, they secure the top spot ahead of EG. A nod goes to PSG.LGD for winning all their games however they did play one less series than Liquid and also to OG for making a remarkable turnaround to their performance finishing their day with an 83.33% winrate over 6 games.

My favourite player(s) of Day 3: Sylar, Freeze, Miracle-, MinD_ConTroL, Ceb

Personal Note: EG are the first team to secure an Upper Bracket spot in terms of game order but Liquid followed closely behind with both teams tied at the top of Group A. However, since Liquid beat EG 2:0, tiebreaker rules means that Liquid lead Group A ahead of EG. Both OG and VGJT have made an incredible climb out of the danger zone of the group leaving Winstrike on the brink of elimination.

Group B

Final Standings of Day 3:

Standing Team Score Points Games
1 VGJ Storm 10-2 10 12
2 Virtus.pro 8-4 8 12
3 TNC Predator 7-7 7 14
4 Team Secret 6-6 6 12
5 Newbee 6-8 6 14
6 Team Serenity 5-7 5 12
6 paiN Gaming 5-7 5 12
6 Vici Gaming 5-7 5 12
9 OpTic Gaming 4-8 4 12

Notes:

  • VGJ Storm are the first team from Group B to secure a spot in the Upper Bracket. The other 3 spots are still very open which means Day 4 is incredibly crucial for the rest of the group apart from OpTic.

  • OpTic seem to be the team most likely to be eliminated however Serenity, paiN and Vici are still in arms reach depending on the results of Day 4. Even Secret and Newbee are in danger but the chances of that are very unlikely.

  • VGJ Storm continue their hot streak off the back of yesterday's series against paiN. They start their day off by taking their series against TNC Predator in two exciting games. Their Game 1 victory over Newbee secures them a spot in the Upper Bracket of the Main Event. It seems TI grants Resolut1on increased powers and the teams which take advantage of this prosper. VGJS finish their day with a comfortable score of 10-2.

  • Virtus.pro start their day off showing that the fun is over by putting Newbee to bed securing the series. However, their series against Pain went differently - Game 1 was a convincing destruction but VP gave Tavo his much-loved Pangolier for game 2 which eventually dismantled VP's lanes and team-fights ultimately drawing the series. They finish Day 3 with a score of 8-4.

  • TNC Predator drop their momentum from Day 2 as they started their day off with a demoralising loss in an hour long bout with VGJS and lost their next game against them in very quick fashion. They dropped their first game against Team Serenity on the back of a Lich-powered Quad-Core line-up and but battled back in a crazy Game 2 for an incredible victory. They finish their day with a score of 7-7.

  • Team Secret only played one series today and had to play a wavering OpTic. Game 1 was a masterclass from Secret; their team coordination was incredible and it looks like their discipline has improved since the first two games of Group Stages. Game 2 was arguably even better from Secret as their draft and lanes seem to counter everything OpTic wanted to achieve. Starting Group Stages at the bottom of their group, they have managed to climb back and finish Day 3 inside the top 4. They will need to continue this momentum if they want to secure an Upper Bracket spot for the Main Event. Secret finish Day 3 with a score of 6-6.

  • Newbee has lost their Day 1 dominance and had a very rough day. Losing their series against VP as well as their first game against VGJ Storm. However, they looked like a completely transformed for Game 2 with an extremely dominating performance on the back of Sccc's incredible unkillable Invoker. They have a final series against Secret on Day 4 which may be a make or break in terms of OpTic heading to Main Event or going home. Newbee finish their day with a score of 6-8.

  • Team Serenity continue their unpredictable, chaotic and incredibly entertaining Dota by drawing their series against OpTic. Their first game with the Americans was a slow grind which eventually went to PPD's squad however the second game was a clinic from Serenity destroying OpTic 36 kills to 9. They continue this dominance by taking their first game from TNC in another convincing fashion with a score of 37-10 bu their second game was different as they had to endure a long battle where they would eventually crumble and lose. The inconsistencies of the first two days seems to have worn off and Serenity may even book a spot in the Upper Bracket if they maintain this level of performance. They finish Day 3 with a score of 5-7.

  • Vici Gaming only played 1 series today and managed to draw their series with paiN Gaming. Their first game was a near-50-minute Bloodbath which they adapted to very well by crushing paiN in under 20 minutes for game 2. Once again, inconsistency seems to be a bane for Chinese teams this TI and VG seem to be one of the teams in Group B on the verge of going home early. They finish Day 3 with a score of 5-7.

  • paiN Gaming show that South American Dota deserves to be at this tournament however inconsistency seems to plague their games as some games they look on top of the world and other games they lose from the draft. Their teamfight coordination is exceptional but they have difficulty pushing advantages to close games. They start their day by drawing their series with VG where they scraped their first game against them but were crushed by VG.eLeVeN's Dagon Necrophos and lost in under 20 minutes in the second game. Their next game against VP was a soul-crushing loss where they should've been put to bed in game but the boys toughened up and won an amazing game on the back of Tavo's incredible Pangolier performance. Hopefully that last victory of the day will raise their spirits for the final day of Group Stages. They finish their day with a score of 5-7.

  • OpTic Gaming seem to have difficulty adapting to the current TI meta. Their star player, 33, seems to be out of his comfort zone and the team doesn't look like the same squad who were dominating at Birmingham and Supermajor. They clinched their first game from Serenity but were completely dismantled in the second game. They looked even worse for wear in their series against Secret where they dropped both games rather convincingly. I believe their drafts are fine however their team coordination and decision making seem to be off. Day 4 couldn't be more crucial for Peter and the boys if they want to avoid going home before the Main Event. OpTic finish day 3 with a score of 4-8 and are on the brink of elimination.

Best Team Performances of the Day:

Standing Team Score Games Winrate
1 VGJ Storm 3-1 4 75%
1 Virtus.pro 3-1 4 75%
3 Team Secret 2-0 2 100%
5 paiN Gaming 2-2 4 50%
5 Team Serenity 2-2 4 50%
6 Vici Gaming 1-1 2 50%
7 Newbee 1-3 4 25%
8 OpTic Gaming 1-3 4 25%
9 TNC Predator 1-3 4 25%

VGJ Storm and Virtus.pro win 3 games from 4 and nab the best performances of the day. A nod goes to Secret who win both their games but only were able to play a single series today.

My favourite player(s) of Day 3: Ramzes666, Resolut1on, Tavo, Fata

Personal Note: With the exception of VGJS securing a spot in Upper Bracket and OpTic hanging onto their TI life, Group B remains to be incredibly close and many teams have a chance to end up in either Upper Bracket, Lower Bracket or even heading home. Looking at how unpredictable games have been, Day 4 for Group B will be incredibly exciting.

Lastly, I have watched (and rewatched) every single TI to date and no TI, especially Group Stages, has ever been as competitive as this. I love the current meta and nearly all teams are showing they all have what it takes and they're hungry for the Aegis. Final day of Group Stages will be amazing!

Day 4 - Final Group Stage Day Prospects

Winstrike and Optic are in the red zone but other teams in their group could still take their place. IG have played all their games meaning they rely on the results of the Winstrike series to decide their fate.

The games I am looking forward to the most on Day 4 are:

  • OG v Winstrike Team - Decides whether IG or Winstrike go home
  • EG v Fnatic
  • paiN v OpTic Gaming
  • VP v VGJ Storm
  • Secret v Newbee

Gorgc appreciation thread

A while back there was a meme about how people only watch him when no one else is streaming, and he won 1/4 games since they started watching. But I don't know if he ever got a serious thread of appreciation. Gorgc is the first streamer I've ever watched as a first choice, as opposed to watching someone when I have fuck all else to do. He talks to chat more often than any other streamer I've seen, he talks us through his thought process, and despite how tilted he gets, he always tries to communicate with chat (aside from when he mutes himself). I have anxiety issues and gorgc stream has got me through some bad times, it helped me take my mind off of things. Love you man gorgcpride

Fantasy Day 4 Discussion

Posted: 18 Aug 2018 01:50 AM PDT

Hey Now,

Sorry about yesterday. I flew into Seattle then saw some friends at UW, then it was 4am. I did however finish a NY Times sunday crossword for the first time. Not that you care. I'm just venting. I feel like I need to type words here.

Fantasy dota day 3 recap:

Support Points Core Points Offlane Points
kuroky 86.4 X Miracle 104.5 X Xinq 74.7
Q 85.8 X Sylar 86.7 X mind_control 70.7
dj 85.9 X ana 86.6 X nograta 70.7

Therefore a team of miracle, sylar, kuroky, dj, and xinq would have netted a maximum of 438.2 (without card bonuses).

The teams that will be playing 4 Games tomorrow are:

  • OpTic
  • paiN
  • Secret
  • Serenity
  • VGJ.s
  • Vici
  • VP

Here's the top 3 Average Scorers for those teams:

Support Points Avg Core Points Avg Offlane Points Avg
SVG 17.03 X noone 16.36 X xinq 13.37
Solo 14.61 X YS 15.06 X sneyking 12.62
kingrd 14.03 X w33 14.59 X fata 12.51

Leafeator's Analysis:

I got 1360 points. Newbee burned me a bit on day 2, and fnatic day 3.

So while sitting outside of the top 100, I think it's time to go all in and play everyone's favorite Day 4 game-- "Who'se gonna play Tiebreakers!"

We are going to see at least one set of tie breakers, almost for sure. We may get 3 way ties. We may get tiebreakers on the top and bottom of group B. Therefore teams that are playing at least 4 games and can play a tiebreaker would be the gamble for maximum points.

If you have a weak constituion, just play VP + SVG.

If you're a straight fuckin' baller, try and see who will be playing them tiebreakers.

I think we're going to see TNC, Newbee, and Pain all finish with 7-9, creating a tiebreaker at the top. I also think we are going to see Serenity, Vici, and Optic at 6-10, creating a tiebreaker at the bottom. (Also thinking that team 4-9 in the group are all 1 game apart is just crazy exciting.)

Therefore, I want to play Pain, Serenity, Vici and Optic players, as I think they have the highest chance of some good tiebreakers.

I'm going with: Ori, w33, Xinq, kingrd, and fenrir. Because fuck optic.

TI for the married scrubs...

Posted: 17 Aug 2018 08:14 PM PDT

I've been seeing some of my fellow Archons here talking about watching TI while dealing with their a wife / gf / bf

Let me give you some insight...

Been married 15 years, have 2 twin daughters, self employed and I've been playing Dotes for 10 of those years.

Every day of the year I'm a friggen rock star father / husband / boss / vendor / deacon but for 10 days of the year I tell my wife / kids / and other people I'm accountable to, that I will be semi-AFK from life while following my hobby the same way people follow sports like football or soccer.

There is nothing wrong with taking time to watch and enjoy TI if your attentive to them the rest of the year.

I've been following since TI2 and while it was rough a couple of those years I at least got the grand finals every year.

So don't let people give you a hard time about following esports because as far as I'm concerned it's the same as when my Father would checkout during the NFL playoffs when i was a kid.

TI8 Fantasy Predictions: Day Four, by a scrub

Posted: 17 Aug 2018 09:06 PM PDT

https://www.esportsheaven.com/features/ti8-fantasy-guide-day-four-by-a-scrub/

My day four guide is out after we all got our butts handed to us by a poor Fnatic fantasy day. But I'm all about positivity and silver linings, and here's what I've got for you. Almost EVERYBODY went heavy in on Fnatic and Liquid yesterday, you included. If EVERYBODY has roughly the same lineups, yeah, that means you're probably not passing anybody, but nobody else is really passing you either. Day Three was a wash! Doesn't that cheer you up? =p

I'm going to keep with the same schedule and post my next fantasy guide the day before (aka Sunday night). That means don't expect one from me tomorrow (not fantasy-related, anyway). Until then though, good luck in Day Four folks! May the Dota Gods bless us with plenty of tiebreaks to watch.

---

EDIT - The initial reaction in the comments seems to be that I led y'all horribly astray yesterday because Fnatic underperformed on the fantasy front. Allow me to demonstrate what actually happened.

Here's the top 5 plays from yesterday at each position:

CORES
Miracle (104.61), Sylar (87.69), ana (86.92), Freeze (79.50), Abed (78.81)

OFFLANES
nongrata (70.71), Mind_Control (70.67), Ceb (70.52), Universe (63.92), Yang (62.11)

SUPPORTS
KuroKy (86.42), Q (86.05), DJ (85.87), ddc (85.60), pieliedie (83.09)

The perfect lineup of Miracle-Sylar-nongrata-KuroKy-Q would have gotten you 435.48 points before bonuses (by the way, please show me the guy who successfully predicted that lineup). My recommended lineup meanwhile earned you 416.85, aka 95.7% of a perfect score. Chill out. You did fine.
