Perfect ending to a game. Got a "we ran out of medals", reached legend rank and completed my streak all at the same time.

Which heavy weapon do you recommend for the whisper heroic quest?

Posted: 18 Aug 2018 08:52 AM PDT

Hey! I'm trying the whisper heroic quest for the first time tonight. I want the catalyst. Do you (someone with more experience than me) have recommendations for which heavy weapon I should use? Is the whisper the best choice? :)

Thank you for answers :)

In honor of the final Iron Banner of year one, I'm going to release a series of posts on the lore of the Iron Lords, starting with one of my favorites, Lord Felwinter

Posted: 17 Aug 2018 04:29 PM PDT

"Normally, this is where I ask you to reconsider. Tell you that you should come with me. See how powerful your Light can become. But I know you, Citan. What you do with the land you take, with its people. The other Lords—especially Saladin—might let you walk away. I'm not going to give them the chance."

Citan's Ghost sparked into view from above, bringing its eye to bear on its fallen charge. The Warlord emerged from a radiant column, a frenzied shout at his lips.

Felwinter's shotgun cracked like thunder—once for the Warlord, and again for his Ghost.

Some Iron Lords fought under the Iron Banner to free the oppressed, some fought for honor and some fought for hope. But Lord Felwinter fought for something far lesser, yet so much greater, Lord Felwinter fought for obsession.

Felwinter was perhaps the most infamous of the Iron Lords, an Exo Warlock, he was capable of wielding both the powers of a Voidwalker and the armored Radiance of a Sunsinger. From the moment he was resurrected, Felwinter mistrusted everyone, even his own ghost. He rose to prominence as a Warlord early in the years before the City Age, and one of immense power at that. His territory extended far beyond that of the Warlords around him, holding not just Vostok Observatory, but the entire mountain and the surrounding territories that would be later known as The Plaguelands. However, Felwinter was different. unlike the other Warlords, Felwinter did not hold his territory for power, his territory was entirely uninhabited.

Or was it?

You see, although "there is no evidence of human enclaves or encampments within this area, nor survivors within the Cosmodrome walls", there exist "extensive one-way audio recordings with an unknown entity" Felwinter Peak . Sadly, I have been unable to find transcriptions of such recordings, though they may be the only true way to prove what many have come to speculate. Felwinter was speaking to Rasputin.

It is quite likely that Felwinter would have been largely ignored by the Iron Lords, had it not been for an encounter with Lord Timur in the Mothyards of the Cosmodrome. From this meeting came the first known reference in the records of the iron Lords to SIVA, the very thing that would destroy them.

The now Lord Felwinter was never like the other Iron Lords, he was cynical and cold. There are even indications that he was a torturer for the Iron Lords.

It should be noted, there are only four Guardians in the lore that have permanently killed another Guardian. The nameless creator of Red Death, Dredgen Yor, Shun Malphur (who killed Dredgen Yor for those crimes) and Lord Felwinter.

Why would a Warlord who held dominion over not a single being willingly be conscripted into the ranks of the Iron Lords, the greatest defenders of humanity? Why would a Warlord with more territory than any other give up the seat of his power to serve as a temple for those same Iron Lords? Felwinter needed something. he needed the Lords for his own quest to find the Warmind, to conquer SIVA.

In the end Felwinter's curiosity, and probably obsession, with Rasputin and SIVA likely lead to the end of the Iron Lords. During their fateful assault on the replication complex Felwinter tried to speak to Rasputin himself, Rasputin didn't answer with words.

Yet Lord Felwinter's end did not come with compatriots, in the final chambers his body was infused with SIVA, and there he hanged dead but not dead for 300 years, until The Guardian released his body from the pulsing red prison.

Part 2: Lord Saladin

Part 3: Lady Jolder

Part 4: Lady Efrideet

Note: These were going up on Destiny the Game as well but with Gjallarhorn day and all that is feeling pretty useless, so you guys get the first two all at once! Enjoy!
