Right now we have a ton a wheels spinning and a bunch of new features for you all to utilize.

If you check out the sidebar you'll find a new calendar brought to you by SRK. It's a far more concise list than what it used to be and you can find info by clicking the links. Our calendar used to also represent local and small events which you can see have are not present on this list but I'll come back around on that in just a moment.

Right below that you'll find the new Live Stream list which takes top and random streamers currently broadcasting SFV. We might be expanding that to other games depending on what we're capable of fitting/what makes sense.

We've also added a tournament search for Challonge, smash.gg, and Battlefy. So if you're looking for SFV tournaments, we've provided links to three major bracket hosting sites. If you'd like us to add more, please make some recommendations so we can throw them into the sidebar.

All great work from /u/mellowDIGITAL

Or Donate Directly to the Matcherino We're still far off from our goal and only 1 month away from show time.

Weekly tournaments are still happening every Monday (east coast) and Friday (west coast). The competition has gotten really strong and I'd definitely say that some of the top players in our weekly are contenders on the main stage. There's a lot to learn from here and hopefully it's been a good experience for all competitors. If you have competed in our weeklies or watch the show, let us know what you think.

Shoutouts to /u/HaveIGoneInsaneYet for holding down west coast AND east coast when I can't make it.

r/SF Radio is the weekly podcast which posts every Thursday. Lately there have been a lot of special guest episodes and I plan on getting back to front page content this week. It's been a mix. Give it a listen and let us know what you think.

We're trying something really ambitious with "Local Fighter's Network" and it's success is entirely reliant on community adoption. If you're out of the loop we're doing our best to collect results from ALL participating locals. Then we're making all those results available to you. We're still working on the best way to present that data but here's a link to what the raw data looks like. As you can see this will also double as a list of currently active local tournaments for anyone searching for their scene.

Side note, I am working on updating all the Gief's Gym Character Supplements and plan on publishing the second edition some time after all the current season characters are released.

That's it for now. Like I said, feel free to ask me (or the mod team) anything and we'll be in and out all day to see what's good.

As always you can reach us through modmail or get at me personally through discord or twitter.

Cheers,

Is it just guessing?

Posted: 07 Jul 2018 08:15 AM PDT

Am I to just guess what my opponent does in okizeme situations or am I missing something?

Every time I'm in the ground in this game I feel like I have to choose instead of react. It's getting to a point where I'm not having that much fun playing matches.

I can't react.

Posted: 07 Jul 2018 09:20 AM PDT

Ultra-plat/Diamond player here.

I'm having trouble reacting to certain moves. Like, stuff that a high-level player needs to be able to react to - moves that are unsafe but have short recovery. Or opportunities to whiff punish. It's keeping me from progressing further. The lag plays some role, since in some games I have a much easier time reacting to the same moves whereas in others it's literally impossible.

Is there anything I can do to improve my reaction times? It might just be that I'm getting too old for games like this.

Posted: 07 Jul 2018 09:28 AM PDT

It's often said, Alex is one of the worst chars ingame. I can't relate at all. I have maybe a 25% win rate against him. I've done very poorly against him since game launch. What makes him such a weak character? What can I abuse against him?

  • Sometimes I block Ryu players just for playing Ryu in the hopes that eventually I won't fight one every 3 games.

  • I actually enjoy fighting Abigail.

  • I can't fucking stand Tokido.

  • I still have no idea what the fuck to do against boxer and it distresses me.

When a match says "the opponent is in your area" does anyone know what that applies to?

As in, city, state, or just region or even country. I wouldn't mind adding people who are nearby but I couldn't find anything pertaining to this via Google so here I am.

How to practice online with teleport lag? [SFV]

Posted: 07 Jul 2018 01:10 AM PDT

Hi, fairly new to SFV, been doing a lot of online and a lot of my matches go the same way, opponents will go from a dash or two away to instantly in my face and I'm grabbed. I've been doing workshopping and learning stuff like tells on grabs, frame data on what moves are safe for my character (I like playing Balrog), just stuff that can help me improve by practice. Although I never feel I can actually practice it well, with my last match being a Ryu which showed crouching walking forward, and backwards as 3 frames, or a hit from me would connect and I'd see the weird hit effect coming off of where it landed, then I'm grabbed and Ryu would've taken no damage. How do I play against this? No other online game I play lags like this, I'm playing on a high end PC, and for the most part it only happens when I play against ps4 players. HELP
