Dude is currently Casting HGC EU Open Division and looks exhausted but is still being entertaining and informative as always. He is casting like 14 hours per day (even more tomorrow as he just announced HGC China starts another 2 hours earlier while ending the same time). And he streams on his own stream the days he isn't casting keeping a positive and friendly attitude the entire time. I really don't know how he does it.

What if Tormented Souls increased Malthael's trait value?

The trait can go from 2.5%-4% and have a mechanic that the trait marks reduce the CD of Tormented Souls appropriately. Maybe increase malthael's self-healing from Q when it's active

I mean, the major one and secondary ones are completely different. The team could choose not to split if they know it's not gonna spread.

Giving a different color would be decent. Or showing the spreading range of only the major bombs.

Since we're getting Raynor's and Azmodan's reworks, it's time we give a rework to our only Blizzard Classic heroes: The Lost Vikings.

While I've gotten fairly good at using TLV, they have several major issues that hold them back. There's several reasons why they've been bottom tier on Icy-Veins for a good while now:

  • Very limited talent diversity, as you always want mostly the same talents
  • Poor teamfight capabilities, and against some heroes (Li-Ming, Kael'thas, Kel'thuzad) that can even be a liability
  • Lack of benefits for bringing the Vikings together

To this end, I want to give them a big overhaul, one that does the following:

  • Drastically improve TLV's viability in team fights if they're forced into them, though they should still be under-par compared to most other heroes
  • Make fewer talents that only affect one Viking
  • Preserve the trademark 3-heroes-in-1 gameplay

Now, this is going to be a WIP for the moment, but I'll post here what I come up with.

#1: Change 'Spin To Win!' and 'Jump!' to be baseline quest rewards instead of talent choices

One major problem with 'Spin To Win!' and 'Jump!' is that they're so mandatory that you simply can't go for any other talent choices at their respective tiers. Jump!, in particular, gives the Vikings one of their only means of surviving ganks or burst attacks, while Spin To Win! is such a crucial pushing talent that no one ever wants to go with the other choices.

To that end, I feel they are best off being baseline quest rewards instead of talent choices. Removing them as talents means that players can actually have choices at levels 7 and 13. There may be a few other talents that could be made baseline as well, but these two are the most necessary.

As for said baseline quest, I would tie Spin To Win! and Jump! to the Viking Hoard trait in the following fashion:

After collecting 20 Regen Globes, unlock Spin To Win!

After collecting 40 Regen Globes, unlock Jump!

Alternatively, if collecting Regen Globes would be too difficult on some maps, it could work this way instead:

After dealing X1 Siege Damage, unlock Spin To Win!

After dealing X2 Siege Damage, unlock Jump!

This lets them unlock these abilities by doing their job at split-pushing and taking mercenary camps.

#2: Add a new talent that allows the Vikings to utilize a Spirit Link effect.

One of the biggest issues with playing TLV is that any individual Viking is easily sniped. This makes it hard for them to get into teamfights since enemy heroes with takedown bonuses (such as Li-Ming) could use their easy deaths to snowball a fight.

To remedy this, I would add the following talent:

Share The Pain

Toggle: Whenever a Viking takes damage, 50% of the damage is redistributed between all other nearby Vikings.

(So if Baleog gets hit and both Olaf and Erik are nearby, Baleog takes 50\% while Olaf and Erik both take 25\% of the total damage.)

This would make it harder to kill an individual Viking as long as they're together, but allows the TLV player to cancel the link in certain situations. Reducing their weakness to being picked off would allow them to have a fighting chance in teamfights.

#3: Modify existing talents to have improved bonuses if the Vikings are all together.

When the Vikings are all together, they don't end up becoming all too strong. Their talents don't provide an incentive to bring the Vikings together in one place (except for Longboat Raid!). By changing certain talents to become stronger if the Vikings are together, it again helps them in teamfight situations.

Here are some examples of changed talents:

Hunka' Burning Olaf

Olaf deals X damage every second to nearby enemies. This damage is increased by 50% for each nearby Viking.

Baleog the Fierce

Baleog's Basic Attacks increase his Attack Speed by 8% and the Attack Speed of all other nearby Vikings by 4%, stacking up to 5 times. After 3 seconds of not attacking, these stacks will rapidly decay.

Erik the Swift

Permanently increases Erik's base Movement Speed by 10%, and as long as Erik is moving he heals X Health per second. Also increases Olaf's and Baleog's base Movement Speed by 10% if they are near Erik.

Changes like these would allow the Vikings to really put their teamwork to practice, making them considerably more imposing if you decide to take them 1v3.

Genji seems OP in both HL and HGC now

82,5% popularity in Masters with 55% WR.

I'm not even mentioning Pro, since he's picked/banned in pretty much every game.

Well, incoming third ban will probably solve a lot of issues with him. I'm actually only a low Master but playing at this MMR vs. Genji is already a horrible experience. I noticed that around ~D1 you already see better ninjas going triple/quadruple kill in TF, and it's actually hard to do something about it. Well, current HGC already proven that there's no straight counter to Genji and this should be looked at imho.

Darn it, Genji is meta since forever. I'm already super tired of seeing/banning him every goddamn time. Also, I think that with 3 bans he will be banned 100% of the time, so he really needs more nerfs.

Alterac Pass hitting HL/TL today! (5 Tips on the map)

Some of these seem common knowledge to some players but just some things I've noticed about players on Alterac so far. If anyone else has tips or disagree, post!

  1. You can afford to concede prison camp for a while, be it your own or your opponent's. Go tap healing well, get your mid camp while you wait for respawns, soak a lane to get talent tiers. There's no urgency for you to complete the prison escape in 1 attempt!

  2. You can afford to concede prison camp. After the nerfs, losing objectives isn't as painful. A lot of players die trying to defend out of fear of strong objectives were and ironically let opponents snowball with objectives uncontested.

  3. Core will heal! Let it finish defending pushes. As long as a core dive isn't an immediate threat, you're wasting valuable resources you could be investing elsewhere.

  4. Aggro'ing prison guards allows a teammate to channel sooner. Guards are surprisingly tanky and take a while to kill. Having 1 player draw guards away will shave a considerable amount of time (every second counts, especially early game).

  5. Positioning!!!

  6. (not really tactically viable I think) if you're winning on prison time but opponents have control of your camp, a backdoor cap to either secure the objective or draw opponents back might be an alternative worth considering. The distance between prisons is so short and there's not much room to escape so a prison race seems really risky to pull off.

I'm sure I've missed things, so feel free to post any more tips!

I just reached a milestone of 1500 games with Valeera! Yes... That's a lot :)

This made me think, is there anyone out there that played perhaps more or are even better i'd love to know?!

Valeera stats

Ever since valeera silence nerf she's been forgotten by the players. I really wish she staysthe way she is, she's incredible strong. Too often i get the feeling that the community cant handle her, by that i mean many does not know how to act against a Valeera. That plays to my advantage. People haven't discovered her potential.

Ranking through the systems diamonds and below people complain about the pick. Thinking it's a useless tier3 hero which just proves my theory.. In higher/mid master league there's no complaints, i also see many others play her through out those ranks. She's been discovered.

Valeera was finally picked in HGC but i will not go into those thoughts because that is a complete different kind of playing the game than we do in HL. But maybe that opens up for some recognizion!

Valeera is a hidden gem with insane burst that can cripple a team so fast! Valeera is also one of the best sololane heroes out there. With (Combat readiness) T1 and (mutilate) T7 she's almost unstoppable!

Almost everyone underrestimate Valeera, which also plays to her advantage. She's one of the best heroes in the game, very diversy and can adapt her talentbuild depending on what you play against!

Playing Valeera is not easy though, playing her wrong she'll be easily countered. Playing Valeera goes down to a lot of timing.

My most commonbuild - T1 Combat readiness - T4 Relentless Strike - T7 Mutilate - T10 Smokebomb - T13 Death from above - T16 Assasinate - T20 Elusiveness.

I don't remember if they gave an exact date, but they mentioned July and haven't postponed it since, so it's going to be either this upcoming patch or the one after.

It's not going to just be "unsupported", the game literally won't run on Dx9 and/or 32-bit in the near future.
