Weekly /r/Games Discussion - Suggestion request free-for-all Posted: 11 Jul 2018 02:08 PM PDT /r/Games usually removes suggestion requests that are either too general (eg "Which PS3 games are the best?") or too specific/personal (eg "Should I buy Game A or Game B?"), so this thread is the place to post any suggestion requests like those, or any other ones that you think wouldn't normally be worth starting a new post about. If you want to post requests like this during the rest of the week, please post to other subreddits like /r/gamingsuggestions, /r/ShouldIBuyThisGame, or /r/AskGames instead. Please also consider sorting the comments in this thread by "new" so that the newest comments are at the top, since those are most likely to still need answers. /r/Games has a Discord server! Posted: 11 Jul 2018 09:24 PM PDT I interviewed Roger Craig Smith about his voice acting career (Ezio in Assassin's Creed, Batman in Arkham Origins, Sonic the Hedgehog, Kylo Ren in Disney Infinity, and many more) and he had plenty of amazing advice for people who want to get into the business. Quote: "I'm gonna go in and be unable to work for two days and for what, to be part of a popular game? If the goal is run a career and gain income, we're shooting ourselves in the foot and taking a bunch of steps backwards by not being able to go out and work in the name of doing this one particular role." Persistent Robot MMO Perpetuum Online, reborn as OpenPerpetuum by fans. Posted: 12 Jul 2018 05:24 AM PDT OpenPerpetuum is a single-server persistent MMO sandbox. You control robots and harvest resources to build bigger and badder robots, build an industrial empire, or just wreak havoc on other players (taking their things in the process). Perpetuum was released 12 years ago by the indie team Avatar Creations. Since then, it has seen ups and downs in population and was eventually abandoned by its creators. The server source code was subsequently released, and players took over development. OpenPerpetuum was born. Will OpenPerpetuum turn into a mainstream game with millions of players? Probably not. For those looking for a tight-knit game with active development however, there's fun to be had here. It's a good time to start as a new player too, as the servers have been wiped. Everyone is having a fresh start. And of course there's no subscription fee to worry about. If you're interested in learning more: Or come chat with everyone on discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/e4gH9Ff If you get ingame and need a hand or just want a friendly chat, send a message to Sinceto in-game :) PS: first post in a good while, hope I haven't done anything wrong ;p [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Jul 2018 02:05 PM PDT Greetings /r/Games! We, the moderators of /r/theNetherlands, are proud to announce that in cooperation with Eline Muijres from the Dutch Game Garden we'll be putting a spotlight on the Dutch games industry for the entire next week. If you're familiar with the Dutch games industry, you'll probably hold a very special place in your heart for our homegrown games; from Arjan Brussee as the Godfather of Dutch Video Gaming, to the introduction of supermarket games by Davilex, to the award-winning Horizon: Zero Dawn. For us, the Netherlands has always held a very special place in the international games industry. So what's the plan? Well, for five days, from July 16 to July 20, we'll have various AMAs from people working in the Dutch games industry. They'll be sharing their experiences and they'll tell us about what makes the Netherlands unique as a base of operations. Some of those are groundbreaking giants of video gaming, with several years behind their backs, and some are just starting out. One thing is for certain; every experience is different. We hope you'll recognize some of the names in this list as your personal favorites and will be joining us in asking them about their experiences in video gaming, so that these AMAs will be a grand experience for everyone involved. You can visit our thread on /r/theNetherlands here AMAs, which includes a list of confirmations, the planning, and a lot of other information. Thanks in advance if you're joining us, and we'll keep you posted! [link] [comments] |
