Fallout - Is Piper the only character they used motion capture on in FO4?

Is Piper the only character they used motion capture on in FO4?

Posted: 17 Jul 2018 10:56 PM PDT

I've made roughly 8 characters in FO4, and each time I play through the story, I'm always caught off guard by how animated Piper is when you first meat her. She's so bouncy and making all these poses. You play through the game with everyone standing straight barely moving their arms, and their eyes and mouths being the only real expressive part about them, and suddenly when you're introduced to Piper, she moves her hands around, she shakes them in anger, turns to you and starts talking gesturing towards the gate, asking if you want to get into diamond city. The only other time I can remember someone else being as animated was with Vault-Tec in the opening.

Any hoarders our there like me?

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 08:33 AM PDT

I'm nearly at the end of Nuka-World and I'm walking around with about 900+ over my carry limit.

I basically steal/take everything I can in every room or location I visit in the game. Then at my home in Sanctuary I have containers for each item like Weapons, Clothes, Food etc. I did the same thing in Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

The only way I can explain why I do this, is because I like to collect everything so I can show someone that I have every item in the game but the sad part is I never get chance to show anyone in real life. So I know it's pointless and a waste of my time but I still enjoy to collect everything.

Is there anyone else like me who just hordes everything they can in the game or am I just a strange lone wanderer?

Accessing DiMA's memory in Far Harbor is a bitch

This is the least fun level I've ever had in a fallout game. It feels like discount portal. Also my game crashed when I was on the second to last puzzle so I'll never get that time back. FML

Other than that Far Harbor is pretty great :D

I love Fallout, and I have for over half of my life.

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 08:05 AM PDT

Today while I was playing Fallout 4, I was walking along and "I don't Want to Set the World on Fire" came on the radio. For some reason the song took me back to being 10 years old and playing Fallout 3 for the first time. And that's when it dawned on me that I've been playing fallout for over half of my life now. It's such a great series of games and I'm so thankful to be able to to enjoy it and play it. At this point it's probably engrained into me and my personality. I never really realised how long it's been a part of my life. I went from being excited to get home from school to play, to being excited to get off of work to play Fallout. I remember being so excited when I got my hands on the FNV comic book, it was the first piece of merch I got, now I have an entire shelf, with my Pip Boy, a few figures, my BoS flag and recuritment posters, and soon to be my T-51 Helmet. Thank you bathesda, and thank you as well to my fellow vault dwellers, here's to 10 and many more years of fallout! Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to have my own kids and when they are old enough I'll take them into the addic to a dusty box contiaing my Xb1, they will ask "what's that??" And I'll respond " you'll see you're going to love it". It will be rigged from the start, they'll fall in love with it just like I did. Thanks fallout, for always being there, when I was having a bad day or just looking to relax, it always has been there.

Fallout themed Mocha in Beckley, WV

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 10:42 AM PDT

If any Fallout fans are ever in the area I'd suggest checking out The Chocolate Moose in Beckley. They just recently created a fallout themed cup of coffee called the Nuka-Mocha featured here. I thought it was pretty good myself. It's sort of a mainstay place in Beckley we've been going it for years back when it was just a WV themed mini-golf course.

I'm not typically one on flavored coffees I'm more a black coffee fella but I did enjoy it. The black coffee is really good there as well. Another specialty drink there I like is what's known as the Devil Anse which is a late with bacon bits on top.

Fallout 4 Swatter, a missed opportunity

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 03:29 PM PDT

Hello there folks reading, this is just for fun but I thought what a missed opportunity the "Swatter" idea was, and could've been made into a mini quest (Better than the fetch and retrieve quest that Moe Cronin gives the player)

My idea is that, diamond city should've had a "Swatter pitch" somewhere. When you talk to moe about how baseball plays you can either

A : Tell him that his idea of baseball is correct and you beat people to death with the bats basically, This leads you to have a "Swatter" match with the settlers of diamond city watching, this would be the "evil" option as either the characters would be hurt or killed, and could lead to moe getting locked in the diamond city prison if say you do not convince either the mayor or head of diamond city security that is worth having them not arrest moe and keep the swatter game as a "tradition" And would be held as a regular event 1 day a week where people beat eachother to death with swatters :D and you get to bet on the winner or play it yourself to win the caps.

B : Tell moe how baseball really is played and you play real baseball, no one gets hurt hence being the "Good" option but less fun, you don't have to convince the diamond city security or mayor to keep it as it's a "Good" option, You can play baseball once a week and bet on it like the evil option. Almost like the thorn in fallout new vegas

I just came up with that for fun, tell me what you think in the comments and if you would've liked to see this in the game.

I'm replaying Fallout 4 on Survival and Goodneighbor's KL-E-0 has quickly become my favorite for her saucy dialogue: "I've got a weapon for every situation. Hunting, protection, cold blooded murder, HOT blooded murder."

Side with the pillars of the community at the Charles View Amphitheater! The pillars give you some really cool quests and perks of siding with them!

I can't believe how underrated that the pillars of the community are on this subreddit! They are the only faction worth siding with compared to the others.

Fallout : New Vegas if fun, but really fucking annoying to play

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 03:33 AM PDT

The full game is definitely better than the sum of its parts, because it's so annoying and tedious to play. Even if my character is wearing light armor and is only carrying a gun, it still takes forever to get anywhere.
The boomer area was when I realized that the game wasn't perfect. Up to that point I had been having fun, but I was then forced to help the boomers. First of all, even if you fast travel to the closest waypoint, it still takes you about 30 seconds to run over to pearl, and about 20 to run over to the hangar. Doesn't seem like a lot, huh? Well try (running in one direction for 20 seconds, then loading, running some more, talking to a guy, then running even more, fast traveling, running, fast travelling, running, loading and so on) x3. And that's one tiny side-quest.
Also, want to go to the NCR embassy from anywhere on the map? Instead of just letting you fast travel there, you'll have to fast travel to the nearest waypoint, run for like 3 seconds, load the next area, run for 20 seconds, load the next area, run for 20 seconds and then you're there. It's tedious.
I know this seems like a rant, but I really do like the game. It just gets really tedious.

Even though I'm very new for the Fallout universe, I've fallen in love so quickly with the lore and story.

Posted: 17 Jul 2018 04:25 PM PDT

I bought Fallout 4 about two weeks ago and have played it like crazy since then. The whole concept is so intriguing and fascinating. I love learning about the various vaults and stories about the various people roaming the wasteland with me. Also the music chosen for the games really hits a sweet spot in me. Elder Scrolls didn't really do it to me aswell at the same way as the fantasy-type lore doesn't really hit me as well as a post-apocalyptic setting.

Will definitely get on the earlier games at some point too. Maybe will check the Fallout Bible in the future. Too bad I don't really care for reading lol.

I'll see y'all in Fallout 76. :)

Confiding in my fellow Vault Dwellers

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 03:49 PM PDT

So After playing Fallout 4 and falling in love with this franchise, I was determined to go deeper so I borrowed Fallout 3 from my buddy and bought Fallout New Vegas. Fallout 3 was good, but I hated exploration, since everything was blasted nothing and the game forced you to travel through train stations. But I am addicted to New Vegas now. Anyway moving on

I found Jacobstown, a town inhabited entirely by super mutants. it's refreshing to see super mutants that aren't trying to kill me. Anyway, Marcus, this really kind Super Mutant, the leader of the town, and one of my favorite npcs in the game tells me some Mercs are threatening them by the entrance so I go talk to them. The mercs tell me the NCR hired them to drive the SMs out either by letting them leave peacefully or wiping them out. They offer to leave if I pay them 2500 caps. I go to Marcus, and I lie, telling him that they want 3000 caps. He tells me that's the towns entirely treasury but reluctantly agreed if it'll keep the town safe. He hands me the caps, but I want to keep them so I turn around and fire on the mercs. A shootout with me, Marcus and two super mutants vs 4 Mercs breaks out. I'm the only one who comes out of the fight alive. I talk to some mutants around the town after, and they are grieving Marcus. I was the worst thing that ever happened to that town. I bankrupted them, and got their leader killed. All for some caps.

The fact that I'm genuinely feeling guilty about this, proves how immersive this game is. How bad of a person am I, on a scale of Minutemen, to Legion?

[Fallout 4] Is there an in-lore reason why everyone's immediately hostile to us in the Combat Zone?

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 07:19 AM PDT

Go there hearing about how it's this special place, signs in the foyer all "No fighting outside the ring" which is like oh okay cool a place where we socialise with raiders, etc.

But no as soon as someone spots you past those doors everyone starts attacking you. Like what? Aren't I supposed to be indistinguishable from every other random in the world? Why does everyone lose their shit when I walk inside??

Wouldn't it be cool if fallout 5 would be green and filled with life in honor of harold

It would be pretty neat to see a green wasteland after the events of fallout 3 in honor of harold who made the wasteland green depending on the ending of oasis,

I've been able to pick expert locks all game and then all the sudden now I can only pick advanced locks. Not quite sure what happened here.

EDIT: it says in my perk chart that I can pick expert locks however I'm trying to unlock an expert safe and it says it's too difficult

A different take on the FO4 backstory

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 02:24 PM PDT

So my first playthough I pretty much followed the story as written, and ended up joining my son in the Institute. But I wasn't very satisfied with that - I didn't enjoy my character, didn't really engage with the story, didn't really care about Shaun - I was just sort of doing what I thought I was meant to do.

So for my second playthrough, I took the setting and put my own spin on it - thought some people might be interested! It doesn't totally fit with the dialogue, but I can imagine that bit! It gave me a new lease of life on how Nora (I actually called her Evie) would react to things, especially during the main quest.

Warning: probably reads like a bad fanfic but it's the only way I could think of to describe it!

My SS is in a loveless marriage with a man she can't stand. Since leaving the army, he's become cruel, violent, controlling, sneaking off at all times of the night - she suspects something more is going on. One night, he returns home covered in blood, a baby in his arms, and announces that they're moving.

Upon arrival in their new home, a small community called Sanctuary Hills, Nate keeps up a pretence that the baby is theirs. His fist ensures she has no choice but to play along. There are eyes everywhere and Nora is trapped in the lie - her fledgling law career, her only potential way out, will never take off if the neighbours are gossiping. She watched the news, reads the paper, searches his things for some way to find out what her husband has been up to...

The sirens sound - Nora sees her chance, tries to run - but fear takes over. She makes for the vault, with Nate and the child. The bombs fall, the vault closes...

Nora awakens from her slumber for a second time, groggy and weak from the sedation. Nate's body, slumped in the chamber opposite. Who took the child? Just what was he involved in? Finally free, Nora sets out to find out.
