So what exactly triggers the yellow arrow on the map, is it completely random? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:36 PM PDT I've been playing since vanilla, and doing seasons regularly since season 10. I still don't know what triggers it. Sometimes it's there the moment I port in to a zone, others I feel like i'll search 90% of the map before it tells me where to go. [link] [comments]

Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II is on Kickstarter – AMA! Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:19 PM PDT Hi, everyone, Almost five years ago, I published Stay Awhile and Listen, the first volume of documentary-style trilogy of books that explores the history of Blizzard Entertainment and Blizzard North. Today, I launched the Kickstarter for Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II – Heaven, Hell, and Secret Cow Levels. I won't link directly to the Kickstarter because I don't want to violate any rules about crowdfunding and promotional posts. Instead, I'd like to tell you about the book, link to full chapters that have been published, and answer any questions you may have. Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II continues my history of Blizzard Entertainment and Blizzard North: their culture, their games, and the people who made them. Book I covered the making of WarCraft 1, WarCraft 2, and Diablo, as well as the humble beginnings of Blizzard Entertainment and Blizzard North. Book II picks up where the story left off, chronicling Blizzard North's long, arduous journey to develop Diablo 2 while the team at Blizzard Entertainment makes (and then remakes) StarCraft. Along the way, both teams struggle to define the culture of their respective companies as they grow. Book II also delves into cancelled project such as the MMO-ish take on Diablo 3, Diablo for Game Boy, and incarnations of Blizzard North's "Project X" such as a sci fi-themed action-RPG and a more story-focused fantasy title. I've partnered with several outlets to publish chapters from a near-final version of Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II. Chapter 3, on Polygon, reveals the behind-the-scenes creativity and turmoil of Diablo's Hellfire expansion. PCGamesN hosts another full chapter, this one detailing the pressure Blizzard felt while making StarCraft. US Gamer offers a sizable chunk of Chapter 8, looking at the creation of Diablo 2's Amazon and seamless levels. Finally, you can read the entirety of Chapter 9 on Shacknews to learn about the making of Diablo 2's desert-themed Act, and the team's mixed feelings on the game's shift in tone. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, and I'll be happy to answer them here. You can also follow me on Twitter (@davidlcraddock). Thanks for your interest! [link] [comments]
What are some good QoL mods for Diablo1 that don't change or add things in big ways? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:01 AM PDT Basically the topic title. I tend to just want to play the main game, and most mods I find add new campaigns, enemies, spells etc. I honestly don't want that. I just want to play Diablo 1 with some QoL changes like let's say faster walk in Town, maybe the ability to change the controls and not have the game crash every 3 minutes. I saw the Belzebub mod and it looked great, but it also adds so much stuff that I don't really want tbh. Any suggestions :)? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:17 PM PDT I play and love Diablo 3 and whenever i try Diablo 2 I feel it's a little unintuitive and some more things could be explained. Is there a good guide on the more advanced and intermediate things to playing? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:12 PM PDT So, first off, I'm been an extremely casual player up until recently. I never even broke T3 until I started playing seasonal. I don't really care about pushing to see how high of a GR I can do, I just want to be able to finish the season's content, or at least play at T13. I'm currently playing with the full Pestilence set. I have a scythe that boost damage for every poison skill used, so I'm building towards that. I can comfortably farm GR40, but that's about where my CLs stop one-shotting elites and I can't stand in the middle of a pack and spam my lances without needing to blink out and heal. I don't have any relevant gear cubed yet, and I know there's a belt I can get that would help with damage reduction. I also use a less-than-orthodox skill set. I don't care to constantly spam everything with Decrepify or Consume , so I use the auras instead. I use Bone Spear usually to get my CL started and then whenever I start to lose my momentum. LotD is generally not needed until I reach a champion or boss. So the question is: will I be able to reach higher levels without sacrificing my more casual skills? Or is my "wall" due to my lack of ancients/specific legendaries? Edit: I'm also only Paragon 168, I don't know how much of a difference paragon makes as my main account is only 150. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:49 PM PDT New player here, just got to level 70 so starting to learn about what to do next. I think I want to go get outfitted in some decent gear first that cause some major damage, so I can chase set items and stuff at a decent speed later. I just completed my first set of bounties and got my first Horadric, full of recipes for the blacksmith. Couple of set recipes for armour which is cool and a bunch of legendary recipes. All the legendary items seem to be special effect free when I preview them. I assume they just don't have effects like a lot of legendaries but it's not something that's randomly applied while forging is it? I can't seem to work out how levels are applied to items while crafting them, I really want to make some legendary weapons to use but they seem to be limited to low levels. Are legendary items level specific? Like is, say, 'Unending War' a really nasty looking two handed cleaver looking mighty weapon for my barbarian always going to come out at level 23? Seems kind of a pointless drop of a recipe if so. Is there something I can do to raise the level to max? I just got Kanai's cube and am learning about that but obviously making a weapon and then taking the special enchant and applying it via the cube is a bit of a waste in this instance. Finally, a quick question about Kanai's cube. Am I right in understanding it's ability? I have this belt 'Saffron Wrap' that has this killer special enchant that raises the next damage of the Overpower ability by 47% for each enemy hit which is amazing when combined with something that draws mobs into you for clearning large groups. Using it is key to the way I play so I've stuck with it but the belt is level 9 and obviously I'd like it to be higher. Am I right in thinking that with Kanai's cube I can extract the special enchant and apply it to another item that's at a higher level? Thanks and apologies for stupid newbie questions. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:58 AM PDT Has it ever occurred to anyone that when Tyrael turned human, he took on the form of an african american man? Which leads me to wonder, if Ithrael, Auriel, Malthael turned human, for whatever reason, what or how would they look like? Ingame, their voiceovers are strictly african american, which leads me to believe that they would look similar to Tyrael? Aside from Imperius who has a very Caucasian accent, the other 4 angels (tyrael, auriel, ithrael, malthael) have a very strict african accent. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

Am I the only person that has issues with the Zunimassa Gargantuan build? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 03:25 AM PDT I'm talking about this build, for clarification. I don't have Mantle of Channeling yet so I've been using Haunt instead. But anyways.
I dunno. Maybe I'm just a really bad WD player (I've only got about 40-ish hours into the "endgame" (by which I mean I have one set for one character, this WD, from the seasonal journey and I'm almost paragon 300) so I'm still learning things and stuff. So that could entirely be the issue. But it just feels like once I add in Firebats, the fights themselves will slow down considerably from losing Haunt nuke and Gargs damage on anything not hit with a Firebat channel. Unless the build is meant to give you the maximum damage and survivability, then I guess it's a little more understandable. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 05:09 AM PDT I've played both on hardcore enough and I really can't say…here are my thoughts: Proc: In D3 you have a passive which saves you, in D2 you do not. (D2 wins) Potions: In D3 you have a single use of potion for 60% health every 60 seconds. In D2 you can have a full stash of rejuvs for 100% health (D3 wins) Single player only: If you play single player only, in D3 when you die you lose all your gear + all Caldesann's Despair augments, but you keep your Paragons and if you have Gem of Ease lvl 25 + Kanai's Cube you can level up in less than 30 minutes. In D2 you lose all your gear and you have to level up all up to where you were before. (D2 wins, though augments are a pain to lose). Multiplayer: If you die in a party in D3 you lose all gear + augments (which are a pain i.t.a. to get again), in D2 you can get looted by teammates and all you lose are your charms. (D3 wins, though boosting in D2 is slower) PvP: In D2 you can get killed in a duel/portal kill, in D3 you can't. (D2 wins) Life leech: In D2 you can get from 1% HP to 100% in a few swipes, in D3 leech is of flat number, not % so you can't rely so much on it. (D3 wins) One-shotting: I can't give proof of that but I've been one-shot in D3 more than in D2 for sure. Basically if your resistances are fine and watch out when you're cursed in D2, you won't get one-shot. In D3 if you push the leaderboard there is always something that can proc you instantly. (D3 wins, though debatable) Am I missing something? What do you guys think? [link] [comments]
The Necromancer playstyle - a bit excessive? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:30 AM PDT I was thinking the other day playing necro requires way more attention and resource management than any other class/spec in the game. Does anyone else feel the same? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 11:08 PM PDT I got this d2 mod, eastern sun, and it's like playing diablo for the first time all over again! Today was easily the most fun I've had playing video games in the last decade. This mod is so polished, I can't believe there isn't a thriving community around it... has anyone else played this mod? I need people to talk to! [link] [comments]
Gearing up second seasonal class Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:15 AM PDT Just getting back into D3 for the first time in over a year and made a seasonal necro. I picked up 4/6 of the gift items so far and have come to the conclusion I hate how the pest. necro plays. Not a fan of all the downtime and grouping up for a 10 second burst window. I was wondering if I started another character like a wizard how can I gear it up quickly without the gift set. I'm about paragon 200 right now. Also is wizard a good choice? I don't really know how all the classes play at high level I'm looking for something that is fairly safe and can push solo. I don't need the best of the best build just looking for something that is fun and active with shorter cds if possible. [link] [comments]
