Can I run an arma 3 server on a different internet?

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:18 AM PDT

I often host zeus servers and things like internet/power can be dodgy about if they work or not, so I was wondering if anyone would have the know how to run a dedicated server on my phones internet (which is good enough and is much more reliable) so that if issues pop up the server wont lose any progress.

Anyone want to play vanilla (or close to it)?

I've always wanted to get into the PvE scene on Arma, but the units are just too demanding. I don't have the time to spend 4 hours on a Sunday with them, but the biggest thing is that I just plain old don't want to have to download ACE and TFR and stuff and learn a whole bunch of new mechanics and hotkeys. Plus, I don't really want to be in a "unit" with milsim types, I more just want to play with a group of friends who are willing to play seriously when the situation demands, willing to play silly when it fits, and willing to try and get invested in a mission (like, even story wise).

Is there anyone else who fits that description? Maybe some of you on this sub have also felt too intimidated by the units and just want a more casual experience. I have some experience in mission making and working as a Zeus, which is what I'd generally prefer to do, while occasionally playing on the ground.

Also, I would much prefer to use Discord. I never liked teamspeak's layout that much and find it cumbersome.

New to ARMA

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 07:10 PM PDT

Hello! I am new to arma 3 and so far I've played the single player campaign and I'm loving. I'm also a bit new to PC gaming and am wondering how to get a part of a multiplayer server or a squad to play with. I see so many videos of people playing realistically and that's what really drew me to the game. Any tips on how to join on or is anyone willing to show me the ropes? Thanks you!

Any tips to help me support my squadmates better online?

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 04:02 AM PDT

I've played around 80 hours of Arma, mainly campaign and user created coop missions, and I've just discovered the joys of annex.

I like to play a marksman role but obviously they fill pretty quickly, so what tips would you offer me when playing other roles?

How can I better support my squad and team when in these roles?

Finally, any tips or general advice for someone just getting into larger scale coop modes?
