Why the hardest sage to unlock in Ocarina of Time is Rauru

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:39 AM PDT

Now I know what you're thinking, either "Who's Rauru?" or "But no he's the easiest." To answer the first question; Rauru is the Sage of Time. Once you travel through time from the first time, you get his coin. This is why people say he's the easiest, as he's an "Auto Unlock." But my argument is that you must unlock him, just like all the other sages. Let's take Saria, the Forest Sage, as our example. You get Sarias coin once you free her. You free her by beating her temple, the Forest Temple. You do this by getting through the temple and defeating the boss. It's the same sort of method for all other Sages, except for Rauru, or so it seems. You see Rauru is no exception to the Sage formula. His temple (The Temple of Time) is the same as any other temple, just smaller. It has a sage to unlock, a unique mechanic of unlocking him and even a dungeon item in the master sword. To unlock the sage this time you don't have to kill ghosts or free gorons, you must collect the three stones. This is the first reason why I say it's the hardest. To get through the other temples you must either a) do one big dungeon crawl segment or b) do one big and one small dungeon crawl segment. But to unlock the temple of time you must do THREE dungeon crawl segments. Once you do this you can proceed to unlock the sage. This leads me onto my second reason, the boss. As previously established you do the temple dungeon crawl segment, in this case getting the stones, and then you defeat the boss. The only other room in the temple is the master sword room. And who's the first person to greet you in this room? Ganondorf. Therefore Ganondorf is the boss of the temple of time. But you don't defeat him until the end of the game. Therefore the rest of the game is also the Temple of Time as it's in between the unlock and the boss. To recap the buildup to the master sword is all the temple of time, everything after it is all temple of time. ALL OF OCARINA OF TIME IS JUST UNLOCKING THE TEMPLE OF TIME FULLY. And Rauru is the Sage of the temple, making him the toughest. If you're saying that you unlock him before Ganondorf is defeated, that is true from Links perspective. However Rauru is the Sage of Time which means he too could probably manipulate time and make it seem to Link that he's been freed when it's not until the end that he's truly freed. He doesn't travel any further back as the OoT time travel works on an "Everything already happened" basis (as in you can't effect the future by messing with the past. You can get an example of what I'm trying to explain through the musician guy in the windmill. In the future he says a kid used the Song of Storms in the past and almost broke the windmill. He then teaches Link it. Link then goes back in time and it turns out HE'S the kid who taught the accordion man the song. You see he had to go back in time and play it for the guy, otherwise he would never learn it. The same way Rauru must go back in time and help Link defeat Ganondorf so that he'll be free.

TLDR: The Temple of Time, and it counts as a temple like the forest or water temple, is the hardest as you must get the 3 stones to complete it. The boss is Ganondorf and you must defeat him, which you do at the end of the game. Therefore practically the whole game is the Temple of Time and Rauru is the hardest Sage to unlock.

Do you think there will be an Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch?

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:48 AM PDT

The 20th anniversary for OoT is coming up and personally, I think it would be stupid for them to not make one. They would make so much money. Majora's Mask could be released at the same time or even a year after. I would just make sense. Do you think there'll be one? Which other remakes might there be?

Reincarnation and names

Posted: 31 Mar 2018 01:57 AM PDT

Hello guys, there's been a question in the back of my head for quite a while now in regards to the never ending reincarnation of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. I've only played BoTw and currently playing OOT and will soon be continuing with the other series but from what I understand so far is that these three figures have been cursed to reincarnate over and over, repeating the same cycle. But despite being reincarnated, why do they still retain their names? (Though Link can usually be named by the player, he's still canonically named Link)

Written in King Rhoams Journal in BotW, every princess was named Zelda as per tradition. Though it's unlikely that this tradition is held for millennia, it is some explaination to the reason why Zelda is always named "Zelda" in most reincarnations; but this doesn't explain why Ganon and Link maintain their names throughout several incarnations.

Could it be because the curse only affects young hylian boys with the name Link and gerudo voes with the name Ganon? Or could the LoZ universe somehow manipulate the minds of parents to somehow name a destined child Link and Ganon? I haven't seen any explainations as to why they retain their names and I can't find anything from Nintendo or the LoZ team where they explained how these figures maintained their names?

Are there any good theories as to why they retain their names? This question has been stuck in my head for quite a while. Also, if I was a Hylian and I notice there are some people named Link and Ganon I would freak the hell out because I know I'm going to be in the middle of some world ending prophecy.
