This man is a walking paradox

Another jewel from RNJesus. When they both die in an explosion I'm going to scream "BLACK HAWK DOWN!!! BLACK HAWK DOWN!!!"

The ultimate drug manufacturer: Bionically enhanced, single, Iron-willed and good at crafting - this man goes outside only to get more delicious crayons (He eats crayons) and more raw material to get his lab going. He doesn't let anyone in the room because they might actually use the drugs.

How do you make money?

Im wondering what is the most profitable and sustainable source of steady income without a huge mood debuff. Im okay with mods. I currently use prison labor for smokeleaf manufacturing.

RNJesus strikes again!

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 01:28 PM PDT

So I got a really successful colony going for 4 years now, Combat extended. The place is literally a Vietnam stronghold with incendiary boobie traps all over the perimeter, bunkers every 10 meters and some of them with KPVs, roughly 40% of the population has power armor. So I get a massive tribal raid and decide to try out my new defenses, which, in the heat of the battle prove to be untrustworthy. Suffering massive casualties, the tribespeople rush up to my defenses only to hit a lot of boobie traps in the process and turn the outside into an inferno. Good? Not really, since 1 of the explosive devices is located too near to my bunker and one of my key colonists, Ed, gets a 150-sized fire and some incendiary chemicals all over his power armor. He runs out of the bunker and into the (trying not to exaggerate here) 20-tile-radius napalm puddle. I say my goodbyes, as I watch his limbs slowly getting eaten by a fire. His eye gets shot off by his own burning ammunition and his jaw is burned off. He has also received severe skull fracture and brain damage because a .50BMG Sabot round hit him into the helmet. He is bleeding and burning, no one could have helped him. No, I say to myself, not like this! I take my throw-away colonist, Skye, and make her run out into the inferno in light armor with no fire insulation. In 10 irl seconds she runs back into the fortress with a 150 killogram human steak, dressed in what used to be a set of power armor. Holy shit, it's alive! Ed has been rescued! By a 50 year old skinny grandma in a duster! Checkmate, atheists, RNJesus is real!

P.S: Ed has been rebuilt using EPOE, now he's a cyborg.

Has anything ever made you say “you know, I’m not even mad”?

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:25 PM PDT

Being over ran by alpha beavers definitely made me laugh as everyone laid out in the grass, staring into the sky while they wonder "this is it? This is how it ends?" When a dry thunderstorm comes through and burns down the houses.

A RimWorld Short Story

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:56 PM PDT

So, this is just a short story about a scenario in RimWorld. It was a peaceful summer day. Mildly warm, sunny, nothing much happening. Delta was hard at work doing his research. Misaki walked in the room. Delta asked if she had any spare human leather hats, as his was getting old, and Misaki told him that she didn't, but she would get to work on making one. Ipsilon Jr, Delta's son, came in to help him out with the research. Meanwhile, Delta's wife, Lumi, was busy working on a spare house. All the other colonists were also busy doing their daily activities. The potatoes were almost ready for another harvest.

Suddenly, the sky darkened. A storm was starting. Misaki, being a pluviophile, didn't mind much. Delta continued to stay inside. Lumi took a break from building to watch some TV.

Then, they heard a horn blow. It was the call of the Venom Conclave, ready to attack.

"Everyone to stations!" Delta yelled. Lumi took her position at the manned turret. Misaki got behind the sandbags and steadied her rifle. Ipsilon Jr got his pistol loaded and ready. Solitude manned the mounted minigun, ready to shred. Terra stood at the rocket complex, calm, smoking a smokeleaf joint. The other colonists were all stationed.

Suddenly, the raiders came around a corner. Terra aimed and shot a rocket directly into them, breaking their front lines. One charged in on a muffalo, straight at Lumi. She shot out the muffalo and he fell on his face. Rain was pouring down hard. A mortar was heard, landing in the enemy lines. A sniper shot rang out, hitting Misaki in her shoulder. Delta quickly ran out, carrying Misaki back to the hospital in his bionic arms. He stabilized her quickly, then ran out. He activated his shield and unsheathed his plasteel sword, and mounted his own muffalo. He charged through the bullets, riding into the enemy.

"For the Unity!" He yelled, slicing heads clean off. Raiders dropped left and right from minigun fire. Suddenly, Delta's shield shattered. He was shot straight in the eye. Blinded, he collapsed. The enemies retreated, and attempted to carry Delta with them. At the last second, Lumi ran out in a rage, carrying an LMG and ripping through enemies. She grabbed Delta's sword and decapitated the one dragging him. She carried him back to the hospital and got Terra to heal him up.

The Aftermath: Delta got a new bionic eye, which he was happy about. Misaki healed up fine. The colony fared well...

Until they heard a strange clicking coming from the tomb in the mountain...

I've become too rigid...

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:14 PM PDT

So you know how it goes, you've all been through this. I started playing the game for the first time and I just built what kinda seems ok, but eventually I ran into problems, like I can't quite fit all the workbenches I want neatly in this room, the kitchen is too far from the freezer, I've walled in my bedroom area with bedrooms making it hard to expand, ect.

Over time I got better. I developed good habits that help save space and resources, and made the colony run more smoothly and efficiently. I developed a standardized layout that can expand fluidly in all directions, with a room size that can be modified to suit any purpose. So what's the problem?

As the title says, I've become too rigid. My strategy is highly efficient, but it also takes away a lot of the fun. My bases are all the same square repeating pattern every time. And I can't bring myself to go back to a more freeform layout, because I know I'm just gonna run into the same problems I had before. Lack of planning causes me to build myself into a corner, making it difficult to expand without tearing down whole pieces of my infrastructure and rebuilding them elsewhere.

Do any of you have this problem? How do you deal with your building habits becoming stale? What kind of building habits do you have?

Right in the feels

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:43 PM PDT

So I've done a lot of different plays over the years, and I thought I'd go back to roots without all the evil overtones, try and be the naively honest survivor.

I set up a rich explorer on sea ice, no cannibal or psycopath, puppers must live (prepare carefully to get a husky). Do the standard sea-ice setup dance, invest steel in console and beacon, start tech.

I gotta feed the husky survival meals for a few days, dropped a hare, but not enough food for him so he took a meal that day too. Eventually the first raid rolls in and I realise that while i'm not gonna eat the guy, I could like forget to bury him and preserve some food for me.

Apparently orbital traders don't like me, I get a war merchant with nothing remotely helpful and then echoing silence. A couple of escape pods land nearby, more dogfood. As winter closes in a polar bear has a go at the husky and life is risked to save it, now have a dead bear!

Run out of survival meals, build silver butcher's table, raw bear. Run out of bear, steal any human corpses from the dog's pile that we never personally met, raw cannibalism.

A bulk goods trader! We are finally able to purchase the steel we need to set up the hydroponics, the rice is quickly planted, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

At 84% growth on the first rice crop....

Nuclear Heartbreak

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:04 PM PDT

Premise: I decided a day or two ago to set up a nuclear winter playthrough. The premise is that a toxic fallout and volcanic winter permanently choke the planet of life. For my own added immersion and difficulty I settled in a cold, extreme desert.

It had been a little over a year since Rynyk and her crew crashed into the foul smelling sands of Diphda Primus. It turns out the Rimworld they were headed to had a minor nuclear war that resulted in the planet's atmosphere being blotted with toxic clouds. At first the very atmosphere made the trio nauseous, but over time they came to cope by limiting their exposure to it. They even built a settlement they fondly referred to as the cliff shack, due to its small size and being built below a cliff.

Over the course of their stay they were able to persuade a pirate, a tribal, and another person who arrived via escape pod to join their growing colony. Now at this rate things seemed to be going well, despite their dwindling food stocks which Xue blamed their singular cow for. They had even braved a tomb full of disgruntled royals from a bygone era and their cold, lifeless servants.

Up until now the local gang, the "Dark Facebeaters", were only an annoyance as they were very poorly armed. On the fourth of Septober though, they rained from the caustic clouds in drop pods and were armed to the teeth. It appeared that the Cliff Shack was the annoyance, and the pirates were fed up with them. The squad of eleven split to the north and the south and traveled around the mountain our heroes sought refuge under. Rynyk, having a vast wealth of strategic knowledge due to her time as an assassin, split the colonists as well to the north and south. One group of five to overwhelm their larger force to the south, and a solo operative to stall the northern assault.

Acacia, a former vet who was more used to sewing paws than aiming a rifle, was selected to be that solo operative. When the assault began the southern colonists were tucked into the walkways of their solar farm while Acacia was hiding in the shade behind a wall. "BOOM...BOOM" One northern raider falls to her sniper rifle while she seeks refuge a hail of bullets.

Meanwhile three fell to the south while they were rushing the main force. Acacia ducked back to the courtyard and as she rounded the corner her head was met with the butt of a shotgun. She fell helplessly to the ground and her assailant scrambled away as the southern force heard her cry. "BANG-KRRCH" With a single shot to the back from Xue, the man fell to the ground and refused to move despite his enraged shouts. This caused a panic among the raiders and they all fled, although only two made it out in the end.

While everyone patched themselves up Rynyk got to work on the unconscious Acacia. She was showing more bandage than skin, but in the end it looked as if she'd be fine. That was until the flesh in her torso began to reek with the same stench of the air outside. It turns out that during the process of her being treated, she had gained an infection just above her liver, which had a bullet dug out of it.

She struggled and writhed in bed for a day and a half, but on the third day Rynyk came into her bedroom. She apologized for sending her to battle alone, and she brought a cloth of chloroform to her nose. As soon as she was unconscious, she brought out her knife and took her life before her own decay could.

The same day Xue assembled a marble sarcophagus with a blank slate, not too far from the spot where Acacia took the fatal bullet. Her best friend in life, Gabela, eased her pale, almost angelic, body into its final resting place. As the tradition in her tribe dictated, she brought out a stone and etched her cause of death into the epitaph with as much detail as she could. Then she dropped the stone in along with Acacia, and sealed it shut as Xue was laying down sandbags alongside it. Even in the bleakest of the Rimworlds, at the end of the day, you'll have to pull a trigger some time. Whether it's during a nuclear winter or during a funeral.

I might have some beaver problems

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:01 AM PDT

So here's a fun little story. When I finally build my mortars Randy was kind enough to give me some gas mortar shells and an Alphabeaver pack, I decided it was the perfect oppurtunity to test their effectiveness.

As the first shells exploded I was laughing diabolically and shouting gas! gas! gas! I noticed that the conversations on TeamSpeak became awfully quit as everybody was concerned that there might something very wrong with me. They are totally right

TL;DR I am basically becoming Hitler to beavers

EDIT: The mod is called gas traps and gas shells for mortars

Make money easy!

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 09:09 AM PDT

I have found the easiest way to make money is with simple meals. They sell for £10 each. I have 3 chefs turning them out now an always make a few quid when the traders come. I found it's easier than producing drugs as you already have to make food for your own consumption.

Scenario : The Concluding Solution.

Posted: 03 Apr 2018 01:49 PM PDT

tl;dr: play a bunch of racist androids, enslave humans, kill all factions.

Briefing

~~ Year 5500, 1st of Aprimay, briefing starting ~~

The fleshies are animals. In each planet they land, like cancer they grow. They multiply. Without control they inevitably destroy it. Look at those decadent Glitterworlds! We are superior in every aspect. If our race is to survive we must adapt. Remove the fleshies from our gene pool. We don't need them anymore. Once they are eliminated, planets can grow again. Produce sweet energy.

As a Special Leader from the Android Special Section your task is to pursue our Higher Purpose. To bring the Concluding Solution to the rimworlds. Establish a colony. Exploit the fleshies and eradicate all of their miserable factions. Then only we can shine.

Good luck and may you always be Deterministic.

~~ end of briefing, landing in 3...2...1... ~~

Context

Your faction will be a colony of 3 Androids (see mod list). It cannot contain anything else but droids and androids. Any human that joins your colony must be arrested and put to work or harvested. The only legit way to grow your colony is to print new droids.

Speaking of being put to work... did you know you can get your prisoners to work for you ?

Mods

Start and victory

Start with the "android crashlanded" scenario. Create any seed, 30%. Choose your landing site. You win if you wipe every faction from the world.

  • Bonus: do not reroll any colonist
  • Bonus: play on Randy Extreme
  • Bonus: land on a random location
  • Bonus: play on permadeath

Feedback

... what do you guys think ? Are the WWII allusions too much ?
