Haven't played dota for 4 years. What changed? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:44 AM PDT I was around 5.5k mmr back in early 2014 and started playing less and less after reaching it. I feel like the reason i quit is the same that made my play-style outdated. I excelled at laning and farming efficiency, farming under pressure while being a subpar teamfighter. I relied on snowballing and just winning by having much more farm. I also liked jungling and its a shame that i got like 10 nerfs. I feel like that this playstyle doesn't work as well anymore. Because farming and snowballing got nerfed(creeps give less gold and comeback mechanics). Also it feels like heroes have much higher regeneration in the laning phase and you seem to gain way less advantage from winning the lane anymore. For example i played a game on my little cousins account(at 1k mmr) after seeing he played dota. I won the lane with windrunner against a smurfing sf(i could tell because he played much better then others on that mmr). I was 8/0 killed 5x sf without help and got 33 lasthits at 10 minutes. He got 40 lasthits and was 3/5. I had 5.5k and he 3.5k networth after 10 minutes. I feel that back when i played a lot this difference would have been way higher. Now to the question i have. How do you play now compared to 2014? What do supports do now at laning phase. What do cores do different now? What are good mid heroes and carries atm? Tl;dr: How do you play now compared to 2014? What do supports do now at laning stage. What do cores do different. What are good mid heroes and carries atm? [link] [comments] |
Just got crushed by a divine stack; Best experience I've had in Dota Posted: 04 Apr 2018 05:43 AM PDT Matchmaking bugged or something and I got put against a divine stack and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had in Dota. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3815711157 How do I get this good. What do I need to do, do I get a coach? Do I just keep grinding at rank? This was amazing I want this in my life, I want to earn this level of skill, It was like a different game. [link] [comments] |
Hard Support Bounty in Low Prio Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:11 PM PDT I've been having technical issues. I finally fixed some of the issues and I can play somewhat better without crashing. I need feedback on this game as Bounty.

Can someone beat me in 1v1 mid so I can git gud Posted: 04 Apr 2018 06:55 PM PDT Can I get 1v1 mids against people (preferably way better than me but I'm not picky) so I can improve? ThanksPM for steam link [link] [comments] |
Why is Shadow Fiend so popular in 5k+ mmr? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 05:49 PM PDT |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 04:53 PM PDT He offers a lot of damage and even though he can`t "manfight" in traditional sense his right click hits will make all them carries cry? So why not mid? [link] [comments] |
Hey hey is this even possible? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:09 AM PDT As I was disconnected recently(and after all items were sold managed a 5 min battlefury on lvl 25 antimage) I was clearing my lp. Now I played a match and as is Normal some guy disconnected in the beginning, poor guy. Anyway you can't quit a single draft match. I won the match BUT it was not score and I still have 5 Victoria left. WTF? Why when I won the match? Also achieved 824 gpm on mk. Personal best. Gave Alchemist a run for his money with a 15 min treads aquila battlefury. Couldn't end the game because Alchemist was keeping pace with me. In the end i had to buy 2 butterfly(sold my Skadi) since there was Abyssal ls Abyssal Alchemist and slardar all whaling on me [link] [comments] |
[EUW] New player here. Looking for people to play with and teach me the ropes xD Posted: 04 Apr 2018 03:36 PM PDT As the title says I'm a player who is looking to get into and learn DOTA2. As far as games go, I've literally only done the tutorial and one bot game (both of which were months ago). That being said, I'm not completely new to MOBAs. I still play League of Legends so I will be familiar with certain terms etc. but I do understand that the games do have some big differences. Looking to play support for now until I learn more about the game and feel more confident taking on additional roles. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions while playing too xD So if your interested in hanging out, who knows, we might play for a while until I actually get somewhat decent at the game. DM me if interested! :D Cheers [link] [comments] |
Sad in <1k MMR. Requesting surefire ways to climb. Posted: 04 Apr 2018 11:45 AM PDT Hello everyone. My names bennhur and im a <1k scrub. Always have been. I am however very tired of being paired up with 4 cores or supports who autoattack creeps and try to manfight with right-clicks, pushing alone with no wards. I know I suck as well (or else I wouldnt be there), but in these situations it 'feels' like I have more game-sense than my peers. So now I want to climb. Whichever way is necessary. Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/326718685 I think I suck mechanically and at teamfights with lots going on. Just help me please. (Cookie pls) [link] [comments] |
Battlefury instead of radiance on spectre? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:29 PM PDT I recently saw a game of Wagamama where he opts to make battlefury instead of going radiance and in my opinion it makes sorta sense as battlefury is much easier and quicker to farm. Farming radiance can take up to 20 mins more or less. So I'm thinking to try the battlefury build which build to sange & Yasha , butterfly, heart and manta. What do you think about this build? Would love to know your opinions and if radiance is a core item for spectre. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

How to play against a Death Prophet Posted: 04 Apr 2018 01:34 PM PDT Just watched TNC vs VG games 3 a while ago, and was wondering how do you play against dp right now? Aeon disk looks so broken on dp. [link] [comments] |

which hero is good against Phantom Lancer ? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 03:33 AM PDT Tried many heroes to stop him but pl is biggest pain when formed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 03:28 AM PDT sorry guys what numbers do u look for on the hp before u right click a creep when it is under tower? what other factors do u also consider (eg. qb, wraith band, null etc)? Like for example creep comes under tower with 392 hp, i am slark with quelling blade, so do i drop qb, hit it once (and pick it up), let tower hit 3 times, then hit again for the last hit? Any websites for detailed statistics? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:07 AM PDT Hi, is there any websites out there with super specific statistics about the game? I remember a few TI back there were little factoids on the stream that was something like "Teams with a gold lead of X by minute Y had a Z % chance of winning the game" which I always found fascinating. I know dota buff has some stats about pick rates and winrates but I was wondering if there's anything thats devoted to the statistics by patch, bracket etc. This is not really for anything game play specific, just to sate my own curiosity. Posted: 04 Apr 2018 09:03 AM PDT The link above is a replay commentary. Hi guys! I wanted to do Windranger support, but I was dying to figure out the change they made to Riki's ultimate in the recent patch, and decided to play him in my ranked games. I think Riki is now much stronger at ganking, and matters more in mid game. His ultimate deals fuck ton amount of damage. Skill Build I personally prefer mastering Cloack and Dagger. You right click harder, and you can juke better. At level 6, my skill build looks like this: 1-1-3-1 After that, you'll mostly likely want to master Smoke Screen. I have seen some others going for the Blink Strike. So, you can be fleixble here and there depending on your game. Item Build Start with 1 set of tango and Venom Orb. I got Bottle in the game above, but you can skip it if you don't see any value in it. You should grab Brown Boots asap. Generally it is either upgraded into Tranquil or Phase. Tranquil is for the better sustain; Phase for hitting harder and moving faster. Choose whatever that works out the best for you. I even recommend staying in Brown Boots, because you need to rush Diffusal Blade. That's where Riki powerspikes as a position 4 support. In late game, there are many options. Anything that boosts up your DPS will work. Skull Basher, MKB, SnY, Nullfier, etc. It is all situational, and you should be the one making the right decision to get the right items to win. If you need utility items, Lotus Orb, Eul, Atos, or Vladmir can work in some situations. Game Play In early game, you'll find it very difficult to kill anyone solo. In that aspect, Riki is a lot worse than Bounty Hunter. Riki needs a lot of set up from his allies to make the kill happen. Therefore, if you find yourself not making any kill, you should find something that can still contribute to the game. That includes: providing aggressive vision to your allies, sapping enemy's bounty runes, forcing enemy to purchase sentries and dust, and gather information around the map. All these plays are rather abstract in concept, and hard to comprehend if you are below 4k MMR. My advice is, try to survive the early game. Riki's early game still sucks. Do not let your carry or midlaner get completely destroyed. When Riki picks up Diffusal Blade (should be around minute 20), it is much easier for Riki to set up ganks. He is now a serious threat to the enemy. Blink in -> Smoke Screen -> Diffusl Blade -> Ultimate. Boom. Riki deals A LOT of damage. You can now freely roam around the map, and start murdering everyone. Streaming some replay analysis again Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:35 AM PDT So i've been recently following gorgc's replays, and he has a very interesting playstyle, very similar to my own, but way better. So if anyone wants to come we're analysing his replays, and can also analyse the viewer replays but make sure to state who you are in the match and prepare a question to be discussed about, don't just say ''how did i lose'', prepare some more interesting topics yourself like ''oh i played sf vs invoker, how could have i played minute 0-5 better" [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:04 AM PDT Hello, I want to try out the battle cup, but I don't know how it works. Mostly I want to know how much of a time commitment it is and what time are games played? Additionally, how hard is it to find a stack? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Can Morphling be played as support? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 12:34 AM PDT Back before adaptive strike was changed, Morph could be played as a mediocre support hero is it possible in any situation now? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 06:15 AM PDT Really want to excel in this role, and I want to watch some vods from top offlaners atm. Can anyone recommend me some? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 01:59 AM PDT Anyone have tips on playing gyro? I don't really know how to flash farm with him. Could use some tips [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 01:57 AM PDT I had a Riki game yesterday that I was pretty disappointed with. I did relatively okay but think I am probably making some serious 'systematic' errors that are holding me back.
