PUBG cheating is rife, if your on the fence don't commit yet.

Posted: 10 Apr 2018 04:44 PM PDT

Preface: Thanks to games like PUBG and Fortnite a lot of people on the internet are considering giving the battlegrounds genre a go. I myself have sunk a fair amount of hours (200) into PUBG and in saying this I feel the need to issue out a warning.

Hacking is still rife in PUBG.

I've been playing online games for two decades I can confidently say I have never experienced a game plagued so much by hacking as PUBG.

I've noticed (on this board) that people are interested in returning to PUBG or are interested in it thanks to Fortnite and in reply I've seen a few people stating that the hacking issue has "gotten better".

I am honour bound to unequivocally deny this claim and will continue to do so until the developers (Bluehole) make considerable leaps and bounds into neutralising this disease.

Let this post bring due attention to the issue.

Before we proceed I need to mention that I play on OC servers and am Australian. So the experience described below stems from playing on oceanic servers.

  • TPP Games.

The cesspool and spawning ground of hackers in PUBG. You will find no greater an exhibit than here. Admittedly this is the favoured mode of Chinese players and I will not hesitate to draw parallels between Chinese players and hackers - they share a direct correlation. In half of my TPP games I encounter a hacker of some kind, predominantly ESP, Recoil and Aim Bot hackers. As mentioned before I've played the game a lot and consider myself pretty competent, enough to notice any suspicious activity.

  • FPP Games.

If you que FPP then you will notice a huge drop in Chinese players, and subsequently hackers. The difference is night and day. Though it needs to be noted that there are still hackers.

The type of hacks I've noticed.

The most common hacking I've encountered are ESP hacks. This is where a player can see other players through terrain and other obstacles. When viewing replays this is evident in the hacker constantly lining up their cross-hair on other players before making any kind of visible contact (you see player name tags). In practice this means that the hacker will get the jump on you in blind corners and will see through flora related camouflage (hiding in bushes).

The second type of hack I've noticed is recoil hacking. Simply put the hacker experiences very minimal recoil on automatic firing. Even with a 4x scope at medium to long range the hacker displays masterful recoil adjustments in full auto fire.

Last but not least aim bot which we are all aware of, being able to lead a target sometimes without even switching to ADS (aim down sight) noting the instant lock to the opponents head.

There are heaps of other hacks, but these three are the ones that I constantly run into.

Thanks to the games replay and death cam system spotting these hackers is moderately easy.

Some videos for you

Take the time to check these videos, all of which were uploaded in the last month.

The worst part? when filtering for these videos I was swamped with hack ads on Youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/results?sp=CAMSAggE&search_query=pubg+hack

Countless and countless videos advertising these hacks on Youtube.

Conclusion

Content drought and developer competence aside, hacking has and will continue to be an issue in PUBG.

To anyone who's looking to get back into PUBG on the premise that hacking has been attended to? don't bother until it actually gets sorted. Awareness needs to be raised and maintained.

Just yesterday I saw a hacker jumping 4x the normal height whilst waiting for the air drop to commence. I still play the game as it's fun but the constant hacking is eroding my commitment slowly but surely.

Reviews (Credit to OpenCritic for the formatting)

COGconnected - Ricky Knight - 85 / 100

Minit's conceit is so simple and so straightforward, I thought I'd tire of it immediately. But I was dead wrong. What starts a little slow (and a bit frustrating) quickly turns into a fast-paced and rewarding experience that borrows as much from Super Meat Boy's unrelenting speed as it does from early 2D Zelda's gameplay.

Destructoid - Brett Makedonski - 10 / 10.0

There's this weird and perfect harmony about knowing you're rushed and also not caring. It's liberating. I could keep gushing about Minit but, given the source material, this review is already too long.

Digitally Downloaded - Brad L. - 4 / 5 stars

Minit itself is a huge achievement, something that comes across as so basic but manages to hide many intricate details including a narrative that is discovered as the game progresses.

Eurogamer - Vikki Blake - Recommended

A smart, witty adventure that makes a virtue of its self-imposed constraints.

Expansive - Unknown - 9 / 10

Minit pays homage to the blooming speed-running culture by testing speed and skill while also offering a traditional, yet engrossing adventure, concocted of experimentation and discovery

FingerGuns - Sean Davies - 9 / 10

A sublime concoction of old school RPG's and an innovative idea, Minit is a bloomin' brilliant game.

Game Informer - Elise Favis - 8 / 10.0

Minit offers a compelling world, and its clever concept is tied to progression in satisfying ways

GameCrate - Angelo D'Argenio - 8 / 10.0

It's a cute concept that will keep you enthralled for well more than 60 seconds.

GameOctane - Jason Germino - A-

I absolutely LOVED Minit. For looking so simplistic, it drove me to continue playing and it proved that there was so much more gameplay under that minute lifespan.

GameSpew - Erwin Vogelaar - 80%

It's always great to see a videogame try and do something different, and Minit does so with gusto: it takes a tried-and-tested formula and turns it on its head with one very simple mechanic. It makes a standard adventure game into a test of memory, of patience, of skill, and even though it'll frustrate you, it'll have you coming back for "just one minute" time and time again.

GameSpot - Alessandro Barbosa - 8 / 10

Minit might impose a daunting time limit on each of your lives, but its cleverly designed world and enriched puzzles make the cycle of exploration and death well worth investing into.

GamingTrend - Amy Kay Purcell - 90 / 100

Minit is a tiny gem of an indie title, easy to overlook but not to be missed. It's overflowing with secrets to be found, mysteries to be solved, and adventures to be had 60 seconds at a time. The bite-sized nature only adds to the charms and addictive nature of this 1-bit action-adventure game. With the small price tag of $9.99, it's more than worth a minute of your time.

Hardcore Gamer - Kyle LeClair - 4 / 5.0

Minit is a truly creative gem, putting an inspired twist on the classic top-down adventures of our youth in order to craft something truly special.

IGN Spain - Carlos G. Gurpegui - 8 / 10.0

Minit is a game you play in shorts games of a minute that you'd like to play for hours.

Metro GameCentral - GameCentral - 8 / 10

A great high-concept adventure that borrows liberally from old school Zeldas but has plenty of unique ideas of its own.

Paste Magazine - Garrett Martin - 8 / 10.0

Minit is an adventure with a twist—an adventure that turns into work, and a twist that turns into as much of an anchor as any unfulfilling day job.

PC Gamer - Andy Kelly - 69 / 100

The death timer can feel like a gimmick sometimes, but it gives this fun, charming adventure a compelling edge.

PlayStation LifeStyle - Dylan Bishop - 9 / 10.0

Minit is pure fun from beginning to end, and it's too short for its own good.

PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones - 9 / 10.0

Minit is fresh and unrelentingly charming little action RPG that does more with sixty seconds bursts of gameplay than bigger budget efforts manage to do with 60 hours. If you're after something truly unique, Minit should be your next stop.

PS4Blog.net - Ceidz - 8 / 10

Minit surprised me. After starting on a small scale that will make you think that it will be over in a few minutes, the game will soon let you know it's a larger adventure. I liked playing through the campaign of Minit, since The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is one of my favorite games of all time – it also has a bit of Half-Minute Hero in it, which is definitely great.

Push Square - Stephen Tailby - 7 / 10

Minit is a lighthearted and cleverly designed adventure that successfully builds a game around a peculiar premise. Playing in 60-second bursts can initially be frustrating, but once you wrap your head around the game's structure, it becomes an addictive and memorable little title that doesn't outstay its welcome. The abundance of secrets makes the game much deeper than it may seem, too.

Quillstreak - Jordan Oloman - 85%

A brilliant little marvel, Minit finds beauty in its arbitrary constraints to craft a compelling, puzzling little adventure game with talent beaming out of its art and audio design.

Reloading BR - Felipe Mesquita - 8.2 / 10.0

Minit basic gameplay premises are super simple, but in many ways, it is super sophisticated in the way that its design had to be thought to work in an instance that was challenging but still fair and pleasant enough to convince the player of its proposal. I loved the premise, the jokes, the secrets, the fantastic soundtrack and pretty much everything that constituted this little adventure.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun - John Walker - No Verdict

It's very charming, a lot of fun, and perhaps most importantly, executes its central conceit with deftness.

Saving Content - Scott Ellison II - 4 / 5 stars

Minit's delightful minute-to-minute gameplay is as rewarding as it is decisive. Having Minit be so focused is to the game's benefit. Never before has a game's core mechanics been in such succinct harmony with the gameplay. The short run times ensure that whether you have a few minutes or hours, the game accommodates any amount of time you're willing to put into it. And it the satisfactory return on your investment is nothing but respect for the player.

Sick Critic - Samuel Taylor - 7 / 10.0

One of the more fun experiments to test, with a sublime world to explore, and less-than-sublime gameplay attached.

SquareXO - Rob Pitt - 8.3 / 10.0

Minit is a great little game which keeps you thinking and planning ahead due to its strict time limit. There were moments when I was lost and had no idea where to go, but there was always an NPC hinting where to go or what to do, I just subconsciously chose to ignore them it seems! The art style and chiptune music is a delightful nostalgia trip back to the simple gameplay mechanics of the 90's whilst incorporating the advancement of duck-like creatures. Even though my first run only lasted 94-minutes, I had a lot of fun and I can see myself pouring many hours into this game trying to get all of the trophies.

The Jimquisition - Jim Sterling - No Verdict

You play an off-brand Tamagotchi in an off-brand Zelda game. However, its clever puzzle conceit makes a world of difference.

Twinfinite - Jake Green - 4 / 5.0

Minit's missteps are the side-effects of its complete focus on a single design mechanic, one which also happens to be the game's greatest strength. Ultimately, these problems fade into the background, allowing a smart, refreshing and impossibly rewarding gameplay experience to prosper.

Use a Potion - Unknown - 9 / 10.0

It's difficult to talk about Minit too much, because spoiling the puzzles or locations you visit would be a disservice to the game. It's so finely crafted and full of charm that each and every thing you encounter is best seen for the first time when playing yourself – spoiling it by reading a ton of reviews or watching videos on YouTube would just take away from the pleasure of actually playing the game.

Just know that Minit is masterfully crafted and an absolute joy to play. It keeps things simple throughout, but still manages challenge, charm, and even surprise the player with its grand little adventure. With such a low price point too, you'd be a fool to miss out on it.

Video Chums - Tyler Hall - 8.3 / 10.0

I had a great time with Minit and really enjoyed its unique time constraint mechanic and interconnected world.

We Got This Covered - Eric Hall - 3 / 5 stars

Minit lives and dies by the time-constraining gimmick it possesses. The constant specter of death makes the short quest feel like an epic adventure, but the game as a whole doesn't rise above being more than a curious novelty.
