Cleared Leviathan and EoW tonight for the first time

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:49 PM PDT

I happened upon a kind guardian here on Reddit who was willing to to teach the raid. It took a couple hours, but overall went pretty smoothly for my first run. Afterwards, he said, what the hell, wanna try the raid lair? Yep.

I'm grateful that our community has people like this who are willing to patiently help someone who is new. It was a great experience for me.

Looking forward to doing these more often, now that I've got a clear under my belt. Feels really good. Thanks, guardian.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:16 PM PDT

So, I finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy and found something interesting. Amanda Holliday's voice is played by Courtenay Taylor. Courtenay Taylor plays the role of Starlord's mother. I figured this is why he is the best pilot in the solar system.

Fun warlock setup

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:59 AM PDT

Hello all! I've been a Destiny player since day one and I'm loving the new update! With all the changes to speed and such it feels more hectic and intense and I just wanted to share my loadout because I was pumped last night when I got 34 kills in a game of Supremacy. I use a Valkadin energy rifle that i got the faster reload on the masterwork, that paired with the reload speed perk of Ophidian Aspect makes it feel like my reloads are almost instantaneous! It's crazy the amount of bullets this thing can spit out with those 2 perks! Anywho, that's all, I'm just still excited about having the best game I've ever had and can't wait to get home and play more!

Finally feeling that weekly reset excitement again

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:45 PM PDT

A long time ago I was excited on weekly resets: I'd do my Nightfalls, gear up, check the Eververse buffet, find all of Cayde's chests... It was really fun. After getting two characters to max, I slowly got less and less excited every week. I still love the game, but I don't rush to play it every Tuesday. This week I did the NF 20 times, 10 successful. Got the strike loot last night. Now, I'm super excited to see which NF it is next because I don't know which loot comes from which strike. And I want to do it all over again.

TL;DR: Strike loot was a game-changer for me.

Why all the drama and the controversy???it is a game...if you enjoy playing it..good..if not okay then move on!

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:45 AM PDT

Me and my gf r gamers a week ago we decided to move on from GTA to another game that's big and that would keep us busy for sometime ... so I was like let's checkout destiny 2 and we got it and we've been having a blast... for me personally Destiny 2 brought back old feelings from the elder days when I was playing WoW and raiding for the 1st time...it's great then I decide to check out some reviews online and WTH ...what's up with the hate and the drama it's like every reviewer out there is determined to hate the game no matter what it's mystifying me!! One question...Why!!

I left this subreddit awhile ago to try and forget about D2, it's been a few months and I'm just wondering how D2 is doing, have they added any good updates? Did they mess up some more? Is it worth rebuying the game or should I just not look back? This is a genuine question, so genuine answers pls

Why Random & Static rolls would help (opinion)

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:32 AM PDT

Long read : tldr at the bottom

Okay so I was downvoted in another thread for proposing that vendors sell a static roll of a weapon in its original form (better devils - explosive rounds) and world sources (crucible rewards, strike rewards, engram drops) award a randomized roll on your weapon drop (better devils- randomly generated perk)

I've stood behind this idea since the static roll was announced for d2. That's when this weekend came as my shining example; my evidence.

The nightfall rewards in destiny 2!

Ok so 90% or so have an outspoken distaste to d2's new NF exclusive loot. I think I know something else about 90% of the playerbase has an outspoken distaste for in d2... ya sniper rifles. But...

Over the weekend I was witness to Bungie's app, lfg on my Xbox, and 3rd party lfg sites having one thing in common: Players farming like crazy. Repeating nightfall's 10 times...20 times. Half of the players I played with openly commented on how they didn't even like snipers and probably weren't going to use it.

They were just having fun with some good ol mindless grinding.

Ask yourself two questions:

Do you even like snipers in d2?

Do you like getting your 48th better devils?

No you probably don't like either of those things; speaking to the majority. So why did you run so many nightfall's chasing a sniper rifle? A lackluster sniper rifle at that?

I think it's because you like the idea of new loot. The collector in your is being pleased with a chance and feeling that completionist rush.

So how does Bungie coat tail this feeling for the player base?

You should only look at destiny weapons in the same way you look at a set of Pokémon cards persay, maybe you got your holographic charizard from gorgon chest in vault of glass, maybe you're smoggypluto and you got your holographic charizard from a poor crucible match, maybe you never got your holographic charizard... either way if you chased a holographic charizard or you didn't: there isn't a person that was locked out of that holographic charizard. The holographic charizard was available to anyone, yes you may have gotten 90 holographic Hypnos in pursuit and hated watching your friends get that holographic charizard knowing you both have equally invested in the grind...

Here's the point. Random can only be equal by accident. Destiny has always used rng. If you want your charizard moment (which destiny 1 did an awesome job of) you need a certain recipe: an average sized loot pool. Not small. Not massive. Charizards hiding in that loot pool ( charizard = eyasluna god roll or gally or grasp of malok god roll or your thorn bounty quest etc ) and the randomized chance that this may be your charizard moment.. this 45th crucible match this weekend or 5th raid this week.. this is the one. That's how Destiny has always been. Hate it or love it you ran those because there was the chance to get that charizard moment. Wether your 45th crucible match, your 5th raid, or your 60th nightfall this weekend; you weren't chasing a sniper: you were chasing the gratification that comes with the Grind

My argument: So... put those random rolls back. Let exotics be unique but not OP so you don't have to constantly nerf exotics. Let the vendors sell legendary status worthy original forms of static rolled weapons. Let the loot in strike and crucible and engram drops be randomized.

Given the state of destiny 2. This is what I think is a solution to what feels like a staleness. Put the R back in Rng. While affording the equality that some players want. Because if you think you were fed up with the disappointment in not getting your charizard moment after your 100th reward drop from a pool of crucible, strike, story mission, patrol etc... then son I have some bad news for you regarding how you're gonna feel about nightfall's in about 5 weeks!

Everyone gets a chance at what they want. In my most humblest as possible opinion, this would be the icing while the fans wait for the quarterly to 1.5 year available with purchase downloadable cherry-on-top.

Tl;dr: in my opinion the evidence from a boom in players grinding countless nightfall's in pursuit of a sniper rifle they probably won't use only adds more depth and backs up my proposal that random rolls and static rolls available to all is the key to keeping a grinder happy in a community that came together due to grinding. Put the R back in RnG

Rekindled love for old weapons

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:26 AM PDT

One of my favorite aspects of the "Go Fast" Update was that by allowing other weapon archetypes to come back into the game I am able to appreciate all the love and attention they get. One thing that I give so much credit to the devs for is the ability for them to make weapons feel truly unique. My favorite example of this is the Borealis. I started using this sniper rifle again during the nightfall just because I new snipers were viable again and oh my god this weapon is amazing. From its design, the way the barrel looks when you change archetypes, the FACT THAT YOU CAN CHANGE ENERGY TYPES ON THE FLY, the sound design of the gun and how it changes based on its element. Everything about it is fantastic. I am so glad we are now able to use these other weapons without sacrificing our power output. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the weapon design in this game and is a reminder of how talented and passionate Bungie is.
