Why the new level 25 Spectre talent is inconsequential. Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:12 AM PST I'm an Ancient 5 Spectre, um, enthusiast, and I feel that this buff changes nothing. Why? Look at it this way. People are saying that bolstering your 80% damage illusions with the Agility build (no Radiance, but Manta coupled with Butterfly or Diffusal) is legit. Now while the damage indeed is impressive, you have to ask yourself just how many games is the Manta -> Butterfly build useful. Probably not that much. The strength of the Radiance -> Manta build was that once you've got those two items, you're set as a carry. You can deal consistent damage, burst damage, as well as split push. With the former build, you're pigeonholed into a very kitable burst someone down hero; meaning you still need some combination of BKB + disable, be it Abyssal or Nullifier or Skadi, to properly do your job. In the current meta, it's simply an inferior way to play Spectre, imo. (Now, I shouldn't have to explain why it's bad to adapt your crucial 90% portion of the game just to accomodate that sweet sweet level 25 talent. Game's most likely over at that point.) And when you DO build Radiance + Manta on her, I feel like the biggest powerspike /game closer you can purchase next, if the game allows you to, is Heart of Tarrasque. You'd want the Dispersion talent instead, then. Heck, even the recent popular Battlefury progression migrates to HoT from time to time. Tl:dr - Spectre buff is not a buff, nor a reason to play her differently. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:05 AM PST So, while watching ESL Katowice, one of the panels, I think its Fogged, said that the game that change his views on Dota2 was the one with Wings Gaming winning a long game, I think he said it was a 70min game, with timbersaw and OD cores. So, I'm trying to find a video of this whole game but to no avail. Does anyone here know the match ID or where or how I can find it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2018 11:56 PM PST So i was dicking around on demo mode trying out the changes to the heroes, and i realized title. At first i thought a bug was happening, but only later learnt the truth. I also learnt with his talent revamp of AOE living armor, it no longer activates on creeps, whereas before, you could target creeps specifically. (somewhat useful in pushes or protecting that one creep that turns off backdoor protection) Also, anyone know the usefulness of making trees on the map respawn in 2s? Can't imagine it would be game-changingly useful though +90 dmg isnt a good alternative either. PS. i'm divine 0 but truly with dota and constant gameplay patching, you cannot ever stop learning. Esp if you push ranked and play that constant few meta heroes, some changes easily slip past you (looking at you, that broodmother-no-longer-turns-invis-in-web post) [link] [comments] |
Is 1v1 mid mode good for mid practice? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:56 AM PST I am 4k and can play 3, 4, 5 and even 1 pretty well but I am dogshit at mid. No doubt about it. Low 3k at this role probably. It's really hard to practice this role because someone wants it almost every game so I don't really worry about it, but that also means I rarely get to practice it in a real game setting. Plus I just feel more comfortable with safelane/hardlane because I mostly play position 5 and I'm much more familiar with power spikes/timings/etc for safelanes and offlanes. So in the rare event that I have to pick mid I usually get crushed. I've read the ChaQ's guide, I know what most mids are supposed to do and I think I know most item progressions, I simply cannot perform in lane. So is spamming 1v1's any good to rectify this? Best way to build core visage? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:49 PM PST Hey guys, noticed a rise of visage in high ranked pubs recently and I was wondering the best way to build this guy.
Wand > Brown boots > Aquila(optional) > Doms > Solarcrest > Aghs > Luxury items Eg: Fly and Kky https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3762667692 https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3762525745
Brown boots > HoD > Medallion > Orchid > Nullifier. https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3762683442 https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3762589326 https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3762034769 https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3760739577

What to do when there’s no support in lane? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:27 AM PST If you are carry and there's no support in lane vs a strong laner like Necrophos what should you do? [link] [comments] |
Changes in Sven's talents, possible nerf? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:26 AM PST Hey guys, What do you think about the latest changes in his talents? Sven: Level 15 Talent changed from +30 Damage to Storm Hammer Dispels Enemies Sven: Level 20 Talent changed from Storm Hammer Dispels Enemies to -5s Storm Hammer Cooldown Sven: Level 25 Talent changed from -9s Storm Hammer Cooldown to +0.75s Storm Hammer Stun Duration I was a really big fan of the +30 dmg talent, it speed up his farm and dps potential. I see Storm Hammer Dispels Enemies as a pretty situational pick whereas +30 dmg was my go-to talent. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is Battlefury on PL still legit now that it no longer works on illusions? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:37 AM PST I know that Battlefury can always work in games where u just want to farm. But is it still core on him like it was when it worked on illusions? [link] [comments] |
An interesting early item choice for Zeus Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:32 AM PST Recently I saw something very interesting and also tried out later with Zeus. Usually the most common starting item for Zeus is either 2 branch + 1/2 clarity or one null + clarity, after this is very normal people go get a soul ring or bottle as to keep spawning spell. What I saw and tested however you go for energy booster first(I am testing out go with just one branch and one clarity). The interest part is that if you manage to control well you mana and stay with above 70% the moment you get it you instantly get +100-250 mana. Then after this you try get mana boots and try spend all your mana pushing the wave and go base to heal. The time you get lvl 4 and go for the 2-2-0 build it's very hard for some heroes( like Invoker, Sf,OD or Tinker) stay in lane as very few heroes and withstand the the almost the amount of spells that Zeus can throw with mana boots at this stage of the game. Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:33 AM PST What do you guys think should be the way two play pos2 in this patch? I think you must pick heroes that can survive the lane by themselves, as rune changes are probably gonna reduce rotations. On that note, are we back to pos4 duo lane? I'm very confused on how to play pos4 as it feels extremely risky to roam around, if you don't get a kill you will be terribly under leveled. Any ideas on what heroes will start to show up / fade out in this positions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:18 AM PST Sub-2k here. I love Ench', she's my favourite hero. I have been having some success in the laning phase with her, basically forcing supports to stay or triggering rotations, getting kills, last hits and denies. I more often than not go the whole "hard jungle creep at level 2" with enchant route to gank or just zone or get last hits. I generally don't fail and usually get the T1 tower relatively early either alone or with teammates who rotate correctly. After this phase though, if I am not roaming around ganking and pushing towers (because of good defence from opponents or counterpushing, for e.g.), then I fail to farm effectively. I usually push a lane to the river and farm jungle meanwhile, stealing jungle creeps and sending them up the lane to stall the wave etc, but I just don't seem to get items quick enough. Any tips? What should I be doing once that T1 is down? Here are the last few matches where I've failed on that front: Many thanks for any help or guidance you may have. [link] [comments] |
