Weekly Console Bug Reporting Thread - 3/26

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 11:21 AM PDT

Hey friends!

In our attempt to make the console SMITE experience a better one, we will be creating weekly threads for players to submit any console issues or bugs that they might be having.

Before our QA team can fix bugs, they must reproduce them. Our team has a much easier time reproducing bugs if they are given as much information about the bug as possible. Here are ways you can submit a good bug report:

Provide a video or screenshots of the bug. It saves our QA team tremendous time if they have a video to work from. Provide as much information about the issue as you can. Try to leave out vague terms and be as specific as possible. Provide a match ID of the game where the issue you encountered occurred. The SMITE Community Team will be in this thread collecting feedback. We'll forward this thread and its issues to our QA team.

Thanks for helping us as we aim to make the console experience a better one. Let's do this together!

- MLC St3alth :D

Bug Fixes in Update 5.5

  • Fixed an issue where spamming the accept match button could cause Gods to not appear in lobby.
  • Fixed an issue where attempting to look at boosters in the Profile menu could result in you being unable to re-select account boosters.
  • Fixed an issue where avatars were not being displayed on the friends list.

SPL week 1 VOD links with time stamps

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 04:49 AM PDT

Hello fellow redditors, I decided to make a little table with the VOD links and timestamps as many are having a hard time watching vods on Mixer while not being able to watch the matches live.

Unfortunately there is no way to put the timestamp directly in the Link, so you will have to manually reach the minute of the VOD.

Every timestamp directs you to the start of the Set, I decided not to put timestamps for every game in every set because many people are probably going to see the games for the first time so I don't want to spoil anything.

The Rival vs. NRG set is unfortunately missing from vods. *Edit: you can watch them through the player POV channels *

Teams VOD link Timestamp
Rival vs. NRG Not found Not found
SK gaming vs. Mousesports VOD 9:13
EUnited vs. Luminosity VOD 1:40:30
Splyce vs. Counter Logic VOD 3:47:00
Team Dignitas vs. Mousesports VOD 39:06
Rival vs. Obey Alliance VOD 2:31:37
Team Dignitas vs. Obey alliance VOD 4:12:30
Trifecta vs. Counter Logic VOD 46:08
EUnited vs. Spacestation VOD 3:12:00
Spacestation vs. Trifecta gaming VOD 5:07:14

Please let me know if you want some change so the table can be more clear for everyone, I will try and do this also at the end of Week 2 when I have time after work.

Have fun.

A Very Special Plat Perspective: Developer Edition with Ajax and PonPon -- Ep. 4 "Apotheosis! Building the Game of Gods"

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 01:45 PM PDT

Hi Everyone,

First of all thanks to everyone for their patience with the last episode. It took a while to get off the ground due to schedules, and I unfortunately had a catastrophic hardware failure that resulted in me losing all my video/image assets and saved preferences in my broadcast software. To add insult to injury, Fineokay's cam crapped out 10 minutes before we were due to go live. This episode will be better, I promise. Maybe not perfect, but better.

Secondly, I wanted to let you all know that the next episode of The Plat Perspective will take place this week on Wednesday, March 28th at 8:30 PM ET. Ajax and PonPon will be joining me to talk about their approach to designing the game for both new players and pros, how they approach designing gods, and what their methodologies for balancing the game are! Lastly, they'll be taking your (non troll) questions! Here's a bit about the guys:

AJAX:

Ajax is a long time SMITE player -- downloaded the game on DAY 1 of the closed beta and hasn't looked back. At the time he was also getting his Master's degree in game design and worked on Disney Pixar's "Cars" mobile game after he graduated. After the project was closed, he was picked up by HiRez as an entry level god designer, and was quickly promoted to lead developer after just one short year. On the personal side, he loves Magic the Gathering, Dark Souls, Pokemon, and Ultimate Frisbee when he's not playing SMITE and working on the game. Of my own observation: He's extremely dedicated to all of you. He's the first one in the office and the last one to leave, he's a filthy Anubis main, and also enjoys long walks on the beach.

PONPONWEIWEI!

PonPon is equally as seasoned with SMITE. He and his friend (Capslock) scavenged the internet for beta codes and couldn't wait to play. He quickly rose through minor tournaments and eventually gained a spot streaming on HiRez's official channel and was the first ever MVP at the first ever SMITE LAN. He played professionally for a few years, joined the QA team at HiRez, and eventually moved into Community to chase down bugs that were plaguing the population. In this role he was often tapped to comment on early design / balance changes given his professional background, which still continues to this day. Finally last year, he was asked to join the Design team full-time with focus on Balance Feedback, System Design, and God Design work. His first god was Achilles, so blame Pon!

I hope to see you all there on Wednesday night, and please give a big shout out to Ajax and Pon for doing this -- they're taking their personal time after work to join the show and communicate with the playerbase! Huge thanks to them for doing this!

Thanks, Wraith

Account level 1-30 (31), and some thoughts about starting ranked at level 30.

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 12:26 PM PDT

OnlyPlayAssault - Level 29.4, 360+ Games, 61% Win Rate, 99H Played
http://smite.guru/profile/pc/OnlyPlay%C3%80ssault
OnlyPlayConquest Level 30, 300+ Games, 57% Win Rate, 115H Played
http://smite.guru/profile/pc/OnlyPlayConquest

This has been a small project/experiment I had been casually working on to answer a few questions which frequently come up. Through my experience, this is what I've learned.

How long does it take to reach level 30 and play ranked?
You can expect it to take approximately 110 hours to reach the current (unnerfed) level 30. Depending on your game mode that is between 300 and 400 games. Depends on if you or your teammates used experience boosters, or if you played during double and triple experience events. I personally tried my best NOT to play during the experience boosting events, and did not personally use any experience boosters. Win-rate can affect the speed at which you level your account. I tried my best to avoid parties, and would say that more than 85% of my game were played solo queue.

How many gods should I have mastered or be able to play for ranked?
I have leveled many smurfs and can say, that my highest number of gods mastered at level 30 is 53 gods. I played during worshiper events, and was constantly partied. You can do more, but this is my experience. If you do not play during the events, you can expect to have around 20-35 gods mastered. A lot of players stay committed to a god they can play well and may not have a wide range of masteries. For ranked play, you honestly should have a good working knowledge of 70% of the gods in the game (likely most of the gods played in relevant game modes).

Will I be good enough to play ranked at level 30?
Yes and no. If all you did was play Joust, then you will have a better chance to play Ranked Joust. The game mode is more simple, there are less picks and bans to think about, and you have the advantage of a 3 man party. You will not be ready for Ranked Conquest. You will have around 300 games of Conquest. There are 5 roles. 60 games a role. That's around 10 games per meta god in each role to have the top 6 gods in each role played. It may seem like a lot of games, but most players will not have developed any game sense. They will lack experience dealing with the many remaining unfamiliar gods. New players will not be exposed to the highest quality games. If you play with new players, then you're going to play like a new player. If you play with Masters, and watch Pro teams play, you will learn quite a bit. Could a Gold/Platinum player move to Diamond/Masters in 300 games? Yes. With proper coaching, and the fact that they have many fundamentals completed. New players should focus on building their fundamentals before trying to play Ranked Conquest.

Is there an elo hell?
Yes. People will just tell you to carry your way out. This literally only applies to teammates who are somewhat functional. Some of you new players will actually get stuck in it. There will be games where you are 47/6 and the rest of your team is 3/23. It will reach hyper-late game and you won't be able to fight into 5 gods on your own. Even when you kill the entire enemy team your own team won't kill objectives. There will be times where your teammates have 20k gold and only 4 items (they keep changing their build). It exists, but the game will try to queue you with better players to bring your win-rate up to 50%. Just know that there are games that you can't win.

Does the Smite community have high expectations for skill level?
Yes. The current matchmaking (MM) places strong players with very weak players, and it isn't fair to the players. Weak players don't feel good when they get yelled at, or lose. Strong players become stressed trying to carry. Everyone expects everyone else to be at a similar skill level. This means that there will be always someone SIGNIFICANTLY better than you in your game, and that person will demand more from his or her teammates. If the MM was truly balanced, you wouldn't have all these horribly uneven games which everyone complains about.

Currently Smite is lowering the experience needed to achieve level 30 and play Ranked game modes. Players will be even less qualified to play ranked. Ranked Conquest shouldn't be a game mode where you increase the population by lowering the account level. The barrier to performing at an adequate skill level in Ranked Conquest is experience and game knowledge. Players need to play Conquest more. Updating tutorials, or having resident ex-pros/Masters (Adanas / MLCStealth / Anatoliy / Taco) make proper guides should be considered. Make the in-game god builder more permanent, and have god guides updated within the game or on the website. Tips, strategies, made in-house and updated would be appreciated.

*Ranked* Because you see something on the SPL doesnt mean you can do it too

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 09:54 AM PDT

Sounds a little mean tbh but professional gamers can do it because they practice it. Or at least high diamond/masters and have a specific strategy in making a wierd pick. I WANT people to practice what the pros do. But maybe not in ranked where almost everyone isnt that confident in your awkward pick ):

Please dont go awilix mid and get mad because we lost... shes not a mid player in ANY WAY, most mid players arent single target.

Cutesy Cerberus, dropkick, earl wukong, and nene kaiju(featured in the promo picture) missing from cutesy chest

I just tried to open my cutesy chest but it said I own all the contents, but I don't own any of the ones mentioned in the title. Will these be added to the chest any time soon and why is nene kaiju featured in the promo picture if it's not in the chest?

Cutesy Avatar Chest Banner is False

The banner in game displays that one of the icons you can receive is the Nene Kaiju one from Summer of Smite but I can no longer roll from that chest and I can confirm I do not own it. I checked the wiki and it says you can get it, if so then why can't I roll for it?

What if Kuku ult knocked people straight up instead of to the sides?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 02:40 PM PDT

Would this be a viable buff (even be considered a buff)? I feel like a change like this is definitely a buff, because your teammates will know where exactly to follow up, and it would give you time to put your tornado directly below them to apply it as a follow up.

The biggest con of this to me is it feels so good to see them get knocked to the sides and really gives the power to the ult. So I dunno, just a thought.
