Origen back in EULCS?

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 12:17 PM PDT

Origen just tweeted:

With the news of franchising yesterday could this be the return of OG? At least they didn't put any motivational words under the picture...

When there's a support in the game like Brand who deals a lot of damage, the comment "you did less damage than support LOL" means absolutely nothing

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 05:28 AM PDT

While Brand and Vel'Koz etc do usually have stuns or some kind of CC in their kits, they are essentially a carry support, just like Riven is a carry top laner. They (usually) build full AP with the frost queens item so of course they're going to do a lot of damage. On top of that, they usually have AOE abilities in a 2v2 lane where they dont even have to focus on last hitting. It's their job to poke down the opposing laners. Next time your bot lane is the carry of your team, telling your mid laner "you did less damage than support" is completely irrelevant - Im not saying mid will never do as much damage as Brand support, just saying that its not a surprise that Brand may end up doing the most damage in the game.

EDIT: I forgot not everyone has even 50IQ. To clarify for those unable to think about it, I am not saying regular carries shouldn't be doing more damage than Brand. I'm saying if a game did have an outcome where Brand did more damage, you shouldn't be surprised.

Getting Champion Shards Out of Hextech Chests is the Worst Feeling

Posted: 28 Mar 2018 07:51 PM PDT

I used to absolutely love getting key fragments and opening chests to see what (possibly) sweet loot I would get, but now that champ shards drop more often than not, I find myself not even caring about hextech crafting anymore. Anyone else in the same boat?

Edit: So just to clarify I made this last night after opening my third hex chest in a row getting champ shards and was definitely ranting a bit. That being said, I did not intend to bash hextech crafting heh, I love the system but as a veteran player I just felt it could use a few tweaks. Someone suggested I move one of my replies up here for visibility so Ill try to that here on my mobile (rip)

"I totally understand that skins are not necessarily supposed to be free, and heaven knows I've spent a small fortune on skins since season 2! The problem is that hextech chests are rewarded for great gameplay and/or behavior (I get about a key a week from honor stuff) but then they just FEEL so un-rewarding when you open it and get the same thing you've been getting every 4 levels for doing nothing but play the game win or lose. Then when you DO hit S-rank and snag one of those boxes, more than half the time they are no different than those level up chests. Just makes you feel like "whats the point" in the moment"

Edit redux: There is a lot of feedback about how its a free system and we shouldn't question free stuff. As someone who plays mostly the same champions again and again and ends up with a lot of keys and no chests, I used to spend RP buying chests and opening them (I really want that Hextech Kogmaw) but even that feels out of the question now because I can actually lose out on all my RP just by hitting a champion shard. I was unaware that "Masterwork Chests" are a thing that are coming (thanks /u/ArmadicVortex for pointing that out) and I look forward to them. In the meantime I was just venting when I made this and had no idea it would turn into this monstrosity. Fun discussion though, thanks for all the feedback and opinions!

Getting denied a trade, rerolling and getting a sweet poke mage, and then being able to deny that person's trade.

It brings tears of sweet vengeance to my eyes every time.

EU LCS Spring Semifinals: Legacy Lasts Forever

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 10:07 AM PDT

When the cannon patch hits, why not make cannons count for 3 CS as well?

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 01:46 AM PDT

It's really just because it feels more representative for how much farm you're getting, consider that a cannon minion will be worth 60 gold, which is about as much as 3 minions. It would just be a small thing, but it's something that just fits the same change we had in the jungle (unless they reverted that, I might be mistaken) that every jungle camp counts as 3 creep score as well.

Do you have the Main Champ Jealousy? More likely than you think!

Posted: 28 Mar 2018 10:57 PM PDT

Symptoms include:

  • being bitter or salty when an enemy first picks your main (alternatively, if a team mate refuses to trade your main to you on aram)
  • being critical of that person's play style, you cannot help but roll your eyes when they make a rookie mistake
  • if theyre playing badly, you lowkey judge them but also give them lots of advice.......because your main deserves to be treated better
  • if theyre playing better than you wouldve, your bitterness increases by 100% if theyre on the enemy team

If you have one or two of the following symptoms, please consult your therapist about your life choices.

The math behind the Jhin Rgaeblade bug revealed

Posted: 29 Mar 2018 08:19 AM PDT

Tip to /u/FluorineWizard for kicking off the discussion at summonerschool.

As many suspected, it's simply a recursive process error where Jhin's passive and rageblade bonus AD% get stuck in a loop.

Level 18 w IE, ER, Shiv, RFC, Swifties, and Rageblade. No AD/AS from runes (resolve/inspiriation).

This gives you 129 BASE AD, 165 BONUS AD, 100% CRIT, and 90% bonus AS with zero rageblade stacks.

As calculated easily on a spread sheet, this gives us a passive multiplier of 1.065 (44% + 100% x .4 + 90% x .25). This allows us to easily calculate an expected total AD of 607.1.

With a full stacked Rageblade, you gain 48% bonus AS (not total AS) and 25% bonus AD.

The bonus AS increases the passive Jhin multiplier to 1.185.

Going through the basic motions, applying Jhin passive to base ad, then to bonus AD, then applying Rageblade 24% bonus AD to the combined total bonus AD yields the previously expected total of 765.6 AD. You gain 123.2 bonus AD from rageblade.

However, the game then applies Jhin passive to this 123 AD. This gives you 146 MORE AD.. Then rageblade applies to this for 35 more AD. THen passive for 41.5 more. Then rageblade for 10 more. THen passive for 11.8 more, etc.

The process eventually tops out at 1,018.61, effectively, but probably continues for a while. After the 3rd extra full passive/rageblade loop you get less than .1 AD

You're welcome to build it out in excel like I did, but this is clearly how the game is behaving since I am getting the exact same results via calculation that /u/FluorineWizard observed in practice tool. It's also clearly a bug and should be corrected.

** EDIT:

Triple infernal and rabadons would only give an extra 3.5% bonus AP on a recursive loop beyond the first iteration. That's not a gameplay issue.

Ryze's passive loop is meaningless. You need 5 fully stacked seraphs to get an extra 20 AP out of the recursive loop beyond the first iteration.

Neither of these things are game wrecking like Jhin having an extra 400 AD. It's just like animation cancelling. Sometimes it's ok. Sometimes it's a bug. Depends on how it impacts gameplay. **
