So apparently Codsworth was a bipolar murderbot before you show up.

Was was broke between insane murderor and insane housekeeper, either killing settlers or driving them so insane with busting up in there house to make them tea and crumpets that everyone was either run off or killed.

Fallout: Dust Bowl (Oklahoma post-great war)

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 07:37 AM PST

I'm from Oklahoma, born and raised here. It's not the most amazing place but the history here is interesting enough and the landscapes (and weather) are pretty diverse. I have a ton of ideas for what a Fallout game based in Tulsa, Oklahoma could be like. It mostly harken back to the dust bowl and great depression era and be heavily focused on the crime rate, tornados, and bible thumpers in Oklahoma. The factions I thought of here are pretty, imo. First, The Last Lawmen. A lawfal good group. They were a group of settlers sick of raiders, looting their homes and intimidated everyday for their crops and water. They abandon their homes in search of a more secure place to live, when they stumbled upon a Tulsa prison. The prisoners and guards were moved into a special vault pre-war (more in the next factions story). The settlers took it upon themselves to bring law back to the dust bowl after finding the prison's armory, stocked with guns, ammo, and security armor. Second, The Jailbirds. Before the bombs dropped, Vault-Tec prepared a special vault, the only vault in all of Oklahoma. The experiment, to transport a ton of prisoners in the Tulsa area into this vault, along with only a small population of guards and their families. The vault was MASSIVE and housed over about 5000 people, only about 100 of those were not prisoners. The overseer was to observe from a highly secure living quarters and office area. The experiment consisted of trying to reform these prisoners, by granting them normal vault citizenship for good behavior, and allowing them to become guards or whatever other job they choose within the vault. But, the other half of the experiment was to observe the guards and families, possibly integrating themselves into criminal lifestyles constantly tempted by the prisoner's behavior. Last, The Faithful. Ran by a pre-war ghoul preacher. In his youth he was a preacher for a god fearing Baptist church. When the bombs dropped and he awoke to abominations like mutated animals and deathclaw, he thought ghoulification was a gift from God, allowing him to continue his spreading his message. He began a church known only as the Faithful. His message to ghouls and humans was Good had told him to cleanse the wasteland of mutants, abominations, and non-believers. Leaving only his church to remain as the messengers of an angry God.

I don't like how in Far Harbor the game tries to make you feel bad about nuking the Children of Atom

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 08:49 PM PST

Like, I guess the DLC was to expand further on the Children as a faction, but I've always disliked them, and the fact that they're auto hostile in the Commonwealth doesn't do them any favors. So it kinda annoys me that if you Nuke them DiMA and Avery get on their high horse to lecture about how wrong what you did was, when the Island is much better off without them.

So I just got to rank 275 on my final Institute character and I'm a little emotional.

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 06:37 AM PST

Was going back through the footage that I caught on mixer and was getting sore. Saw my first minutemen character step out of the vault and meet Preston Garvey. That was two years ago. IT STILL FEELS LIKE IT JUST CAME OUT! Damn Bethesda tugged at my heartstrings.

I've played Lonesome Road three times now and I still don't understand all of Ulysses's ramblings (definitely spoilers)

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:12 PM PST

Just recently finished my third runthru of Lonesome Road and I'll admit I'm still confused what the entire premise of the story is. Ulysses lures the courier into the Divide to find him and face off with him. Throughout the entire DLC Ulysses constantly mentions all the stuff the courier did, presumably pre-getting domed and forgetting everything. However we never actually find out (from my understanding), what it was that the courier was doing that caused the divide to form. On top of that, why all the unexploded warheads and masked men? Educate me!

Are there ways that Caesar's Legion can survive after Caesar's death?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 08:12 AM PST

During the events of New Vegas, Caesar was clearly the only thing holding the Legion together. But who will lead after he dies and how will their society survive even if they manage to conquer the NCR? They oppose democracy, so taking inspiration from the Roman Republic is probably not an option. So what else can they do? If I'm not mistaken, I think the Roman emperors appointed their successors and the senate had to approve of them. Will the Legion do something like that or is it inevitably doomed to dissolve after Caesar's death?

I’m disappointed with the ending cutscenes in Fallout 4 compared to previous Fallouts.

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 10:28 AM PST

I always enjoyed watching how I influenced the Wasteland. I like how even the smallest things would make me ponder if I did the right thing. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you can hear narration from you helped or hindered and see what happens afterward. It makes me feel good that I did right for the wasteland or horrible if I made the wrong choice. In Fallout 4, all it shows is two options. One being that you helped the Institute but lost Shaun. The other is that you nuked the Institute. That's it, nothing else. I just wished that they added it back.

TIL That if you leave a vault tec computer from the vault DLC at a vessel settlement for your raiders you can still control the settlers

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 07:22 PM PST

At Abernathy farm I found a vault tec computer that I forgot about. With a total of 16 settles 10 farming 6 nothing I checked the computer and I was surprised I could still tell the remaining 6 what to do. Been playing since release.

What if there were giant mutant ducks?

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 08:02 PM PST

Like seriously just imagine it as weird as it would be. Giant ducks eating you alive and patrolling the wastelands.

Essential NPCs in Fallout

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 01:25 PM PST

Normally I really don't like the idea of an unkillable NPC but I can accept it under the right circumstances like with Yes Man. What i don't understand is why developers feel the need to make essential characters who aren't needed in order to complete the game. Like Harkless, Fallout 4 companions, or the doctors in diamond city. Why do they feel the need to do this? I really don't understand why these characters need to stay alive if the game is completable without them.

[FO4] Survival mode deaths - Personal headcanon

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 12:06 PM PST

So I have a slight addiction to survival mode. The way I imagine deaths and The it resulting reload to the last sleep is traumatic nightmates.

The Soul Survivor is so freaking scarred from the war, murdering in a post apocalyptic and eating Spam daily that they undergo nightmares. The nightmares are so vividly real that they cannot tell the difference. It also doesn't help that almost all of my own SS characters have a slight chem and alcohol addiction.

Idea for a mod for Fallout 4.

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 02:59 PM PST

Imagine a mod that disables all of the story EXCEPT you trying to find your son. You know you need to find him but everyone you're supposed to talk to doesn't have a clue where he is. You travel all across the commonwealth with no idea where he is, there's no way to find him, and at random times your character will scream "WHERE IS MY SON?" and all the NPC's will look at you funny.

Would you like there to be more customisation for weapons and armour in the next fallout game like colour changing and stuff ?

If there was a "Far Harbor Freight" expansion, what would some of the quests be?

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 09:19 AM PST

Obviously the weapon repair and scrapping system would be a major part. Also, free flashlights around every turn.

Institute and Deacon

Posted: 02 Mar 2018 04:18 PM PST

I was wondering: is it possible to keep deacon as a companion and finish the institute quest line? Like, inform the institute instead of killing them and then just lie to father? I want deacon as a follower but I'd also like to be on the side of the institute.

DO NOT CHANGE AN NPCs REF APPEARANCE AND THEN DISABLE THEM (you're gonna have a bad time)

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 06:15 PM PST

Was messing around with Curie's RefID model to change her hairstyle (I was bored ok) and then later disabling some objects in a settlement that couldn't be scrapped/stored.

I accidentally hit curie instead. No big deal right? Just enable again?

Wrong.

Turns out that now I have a spoopy ghost that sounds like Curie and does all the things Curie can do, but is completely invisible. The ONE thing I was able to do to make something appear was to turn her into a cat.

This problem persists through validating the install, which means it's a save file issue.

Luckily, if I go to a save before I modified curie, she appears to be visible again (at least, the robot is), but yeah.

Don't do this obscure combination of things I did!
