I'll forgive you Ubi, on one condition... Posted: 01 Feb 2018 07:43 AM PST Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've been over this 1,000 times this week, so sorry in advance. You've already addressed one of the biggest issues, that being the increased price of the Starter edition, and I'm glad you were quick to respond to those concerns. I don't care about being a "veteran" player nor do I expect anything for having stuck around. Honestly, I've never played a game that's provided me so much additional content for free and as a result, I've invested a lot of time and some real world money into this game. So here's the deal. Microtransactions. Fine. Do it. You're a company, not a charity, and so long as these transactions are only cosmetic, we're cool. Just, for the love of god, don't expand on this fucking Lootbox concept. You're better than that. You've stayed away from monetizing alpha packs thus far and I commend you for that, but there are real world consequences when you add a gambling aspect with actual currency. Expand the amount of content that can only be purchased with R6, I don't care, but we both know that you're well aware of the ethical implications of the lootbox system. Sure, your current loot doesn't include game changing mechanics, but it still preys on people compulsions and can do real world harm. Personally I'd rather pay for my Black Ice skin at twice the R6 and know that I'm not perpetuating the predation of other's compulsions. If you're going to continue with it, there needs to be a balance. All lootbox content needs to be available openly for purchase. Period. If kid with a compulsive predisposition comes to this game and just wants that cool weapon skin that he saw in-game, he should be able to buy that skin without running the risk of developing a nifty new addiction. It's not too late to do this with Outbreak either. You can still sell your packs and offer the content at a jacked up R6 cost. At least at that point you've given that poor kid some semblance of an option in the process. But hey, I'm just a gamer and at the end of the day, you'll do what you want. Theory: Tachanka is not necessarily one of the good guys in Outbreak Posted: 01 Feb 2018 12:14 PM PST Despite the memes, it is no secret that Tachanka is not a good fit in R6 Siege. His ability simply does not work well with the way the game is played. Ubi has said in the past that they have been thinking of ways of adjusting or redesigning the character to make him viable, and many people have suggested options like a more portable LMG, but so far nothing has happened. Then, the cinematic Outbreak trailer was released. There are two key details to be noticed in this trailer. The first is that the fallen satellite/object in the barn is clearly of Soviet origin. It has several Soviet symbols on it and looks like it dates from the Cold War era. This might indicate a Russian/Soviet origin of the virus/parasite that Rainbow is dealing with. The second key detail is Tachanka's helmet in the barn. This could be a random Easter Egg (like the Operation Health Charm) but I don't think so. So far, we have never seen Tachanka separate from his helmet in the game. This would strongly imply that he is in the barn before the sheriff or police officer makes the initial discovery of the contagion. Why would Tachanka be in rural New Mexico before the team knows of anything going on there? My idea is that Tachanka has been sent in to the site by the Russian government to handle the outbreak before it gets out of hand and before even Rainbow knows about it. Tachanka is one of the oldest members of the team, and he was clearly active in Soviet special forces before the end of the union. He might have some involvement in or knowledge of the program that created the contagion. In fact, he might be there to destroy evidence or obscure facts to hide his own involvement in that program. Clearly, this would not be acceptable to the Rainbow team or its leaders. In fact, it would probably result in Tachanka being removed from the team in one way or another. If Tachanka is removed from the team, he might be removed from the game. Outbreak is the first time the dev team has been able to inject significant amounts of plot to the game. My theory is that they might be doing this in part to explain why Tachanka is being removed or otherwise changed. This is my idea, but I'd love to hear your take on this and your thoughts on the trailer! [link] [comments] | ||
