Ana Seriously NEEDS a POTG Chance Buff! Posted: 24 Feb 2018 12:43 PM PST As an Ana main, I just can't stand not being able to get plays. I've gotten two in my entire overwatch career and it sucks! Moira and mercy can both get plays for doing a lot of healing and damage, so why can't Ana? Honestly you either get a saucy nade, or you get a play for doing nothing. Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:56 AM PST I never thought a script made of two hours of work and research would be so well received! You guys made me have my first "RIP inbox" and gave my post almost 1k karma. Thank you all so much! Truthfully, I needed all of your emotional support that day. I've been trying to get my first writing job for video games for almost ten years. At one point, I gave up because I couldn't take the disappointment of being passed over for someone with experience (which is understandable). I grew bitter and resentful because everyone who works in the industry seem like this club that I couldn't join. The party was behind a wall, and no one was showing me the way in. But I couldn't give up, it was like an itch that I couldn't scratch, a fire refusing to be extinguished. Life got in the way, bills need to be paid, and I'm not getting any younger . But every single one of you fill me with hope again, and I hope one day Blizzard hires this thirty-something old coot. Anyway, I'm thinking of making this a monthly thing! Blizzard is playing some MIND GAMES re: Hero 27 Posted: 24 Feb 2018 01:41 PM PST Let's do a detailed rundown of the details we know so far: Ana's report describes 4 heroes on a mission in Istanbul. The fact that Reinhardt is being commended for saving Torb's life is another standout detail. When Jeff was asked about a hint for Hero 27, it was right before the tweet with Ana's report went out. So we know Ana's report has to do with Hero 27. Torb's letter to Ingrid indicates that he loses an arm, that Ingrid is about to go into labor, and that Reinhardt gets to be the godfather AND suggest a name for the girl. The operation codename was "White Dome" with an attached number of "ZX24AL." The story update post that contained Torb's letter was released on Feb. 24th. Briefly, let's review the Orisa teaser campaign from last year (Feb 21st through the 27th, and Orisa was revealed on March 2nd): the first post was the interview with Efi (establishing her character, her relationship to Numbani, and her engineering chops), the second post showcased the attack on Numbani by Doomfist (mainly the damage at the Numbani airport), and the third post was Efi's parts list for her build. The throughline between all three posts was the mention of the OR-15s (Efi mentions them in her interview, they're identified as being destroyed in the airport attack tweet, and an OR-15 chassis is at the top of Efi's parts list). Now, back to the stuff we've got right now: Ana's report gives a ton of evidence to suggest that we're getting a new Uprising-style event, taking place on a new map (rather than a re-decorated existing map) AND that we're getting Emre as a hero. Three of the four actors for this mission align with one of the four role categories: Ana - Support, Reinhardt - Tank, and Torbjorn - Defense. This aligns with the line-up from the original Uprising mission, where Mercy was the Support and Tracer was the Offense. That supports the idea of Emre being an Offense hero. The context is identical to the King's Row Uprising mission, in that it's a past Overwatch operation meant to showcase the organization in its prime. Given that the Uprising event was April 11th - May 2nd last year, we're approaching a time for this event to cycle back in. Uprising's event took place on a redecorated version of King's Row. This mission is situated in Istanbul, Turkey, a location that is not currently represented in-game. "White Dome" as the codename certainly suggests the notable architecture of mosques in Istanbul, which lends credence to this mission taking place on an original map. This also aligns with Blizzard's tendency to iterate on their own event design: their first co-op event, Halloween Terror, took place on a cordoned-off section of the Eichenwalde map, redecorated for the occasion. Uprising took place on a redecorated version of the entire King's Row map. Introducing an entirely new map for this year's Uprising event is a reasonable next step. "Emre Sarioglu" is a Turkish name. For a mission to take place in Turkey with a dude with a Turkish name certainly suggests that he's a Turkish hero. The unidentified man in the group shot in Ana's Origins video could very well be Emre, since it has otherwise been confirmed that he is not Liao. We're due for a new hero. Moira was announced at BlizzCon in November, and we're most of the way through February. We're at about the same timeframe that Orisa's teaser campaign started, with her being released in early March. Releasing Emre now would give players the opportunity to learn how to play Emre, and then we'd have the opportunity to play with him and the team specifically in the context of the April Uprising event. Hence, there is a lot of evidence to support the idea that Ana's report is teasing an Uprising-style event, and that this event will take place on a new map in Istanbul, and that the fourth character on this map will be Emre as an offense hero. However, Torbjorn's letter never mentions the mission or Emre. As the second teaser in a series, it's weird to say "we're teasing an event and map and hero" and then release something that doesn't have anything to do with the event or the map or the hero specifically referenced. Instead, Torb's letter focuses on his relationship to Reinhardt, and Reinhardt's relationship to Torb's daughter. It's been established elsewhere that Torbjorn's daughter Brigitte grows up to become Reinhardt's armorer, which a lot of people are using to springboard to a conclusion that 27 is going to be Brigitte. But there are a few reasons to question that conclusion. While Brigitte appears to be Torb and Ingrid's eldest child, nothing in Torb's letter indicates that he's missing their first child's birth. Only that he's missing the birth and that the child is a girl. No other children are mentioned, but none of Torb's other (eight!) children have been previously named in any source. Brigitte as a potential new hero has a lot to support it, but not in conjunction with an Uprising-style event that doesn't involve her directly, or a map that she wouldn't have any reason to be associated with. All that said, there's reason to believe that Brigitte IS Hero 27. The first teaser gives us the catalyzing event for Reinhardt and Torbjorn's close relationship. The second teaser expands on that by showing Torb's interest in making Reinhardt a key part of his daughter's life. If the third teaser continues to focus on Torb and Reinhardt or suggests Brigitte in a more overt fashion, then it means the entire campaign was JUST about Brigitte, and the map/event/Emre speculation were all red herrings. Aside from that, Brigitte has made a lot of appearances in the lore so far, most recently in the Honor and Glory cinematic where her design has clearly been firmed up. She's got a voice actress and a ton of connections to existing characters to build off of. It is also possible that Blizzard is teasing both at the same time: Brigitte comes out as our spring release hero, and Emre comes out as our summer release hero after being previewed in the Uprising event. So, the TL;DR is that this could be teasing Emre AND the new Uprising event on a new map, OR it could just be teasing Brigitte. OR BOTH. submitted by /u/unlimitedblack [link] [comments]
